I haven't taken my black ass anywhere in hella long, Phoenix AZ is a short and cheap flight, everybody bailing out on Evo because of no SC4 so fuck it, count me in!!! Lobo, you still got room homie?
 
I'm trying to see what TX is gonna do tbh....Devastation is a later time...meaning cheaper flights....
But i'll run it by Dallas and everyone else come out tournament on the the 27th and see what's up.

What WOULD help...if anything is pot prizes...that'll help make our desicion for sure.
Plus, ICE was at Devastation so he can vouch for you all anyway from last year.

like i offered previously...whatever you guys want, within reason of course. yall have to agree on something, though, and dessert is chef's choice ;)

edit: tag is in if she wants to come along. i think 5 is reasonable, plus i could use an extra set of hands in the kitchen :D
 
Everyone new who's making their way to DEV, please tell me your opinions on the Hilde/Algol ban and if you'd like 2v2 or 3v3 for a side team tournament.

I would assume that at least Houston and Dallas will roll down for Tekken and SF if nothing else. They were in attendance last year and Dallas comes almost every year.

We're not quite ready to announce our guaranteed pots yet (they're coming), but for the time being I can guarantee that SC4 will see AT LEAST a $500 guaranteed pot. I'd like to say we'll match GAMME's pot, but the $500 is all I can say for now. Official announcements will be coming, but I can guarantee at least $500. ^_^

I'll update the first post to confirm this.
 
drdogg i'd be in favor of a 3 v 3 team tournament. also, as a show of solidarity we cannot deviate from the rule set of GAMME. we will have international players and many travelers attending game, and if we intend to lure them over here after, we simply can't have 2 separate rule sets. GAMME will be setting the bar for USA tournaments as well as the standard, and their rules have been tried and tested in NE.
 
Algol and Hilde turn people off from the game.
You'd prolly get a better attendance if you ban em. Just my opinion.
I think we should vote on a Low Tier Tourney instead of a Team Tourney =P

Last I checked GAMME had not decided on a rule set. I'm not opposed to following what they use since we are so close to them and they are the only other major (that I'm aware of) between now and DEV. BUT if the community as a whole (especially people who already plan on coming to DEV) dislike whatever GAMME decides on, I would be more open to going with what the community wants as opposed to blindly following GAMME.

Also, while I am impressed with what GAMME is bringing to the table, right now they're pretty close to what DEV did last year. They have $11k in prize money, we had $10k. They have taken what we did and raised the bar in terms of bringing in international players in addition to everything else. I applaud them for their efforts and am looking into attending, but I don't really think they're setting the bar in terms of rule set, especially where SC4 is concerned (maybe prize money though?).

Dreamkiller: It looks like things are leaning toward a ban on both characters, I just don't want to make a hasty decision since we do have some time to see what the general opinion is. That's also why I asked for opinions. No point in running a tournament if the community doesn't agree with the rules.
 
Dr Dogg I will be banning Hilde/Algol at GAMME. I will also be attending Devastation myself.

Looking forward to it. I'mma see what I can do to get cross tourney traffic between our two events.

Thanks for the heads up. It looks like that's how DEV will be also, but I'll hold out for a little more feedback since I just asked the Cali guys what they'd prefer.

With EVO out of the picture we definitely need to make sure that our tournaments are supported. With one on the EC and one on the WC there's no reason for anyone to miss out. Let me know if you need anything from our end.

I'd post on Smash Boards or AllisBrawl for a Brawl partner. Some of the people on Smash Boards want a Melee tournament as well, but that's still up in the air.

I wish i could, but the family trip is to VA. My family lives there, plus i have a 6mo. old now. So, she's always going to be a factor when it comes to travelling to Majors. because if i didn't have a kid...
