Discussion: Fighting Range and Power.

It's always good to play top tier characters. I consider myself lucky when characters that fit my playstyle are top tier. Playing worse characters does NOT make you a better player, it forces you to PLAY better, but someone of equal skill/knowledge of game mechanics/ect will prob be able to edge out more close matches with the top tiers.

Characters are top tier for a reason, that said, you should always play the characters you feel comfterble with. Tier charts mean nothing without proficiency anyways.

Playing a worse character CAN make you a better player, if you can use your experiences to make you a better player. It depends on how aware the player is to the opportunities around them.

Leixia is my natural character, even though I played Taki in SC4. Strangely enough. Unfortunately, her 44B was nerfed too (come on Namco...at least let her backstep...)

Can I please has Xianghua's backstep back?

Sounds like your problem is whiffing. Just don't whiff. Has nothing to do with the lack of ranged moves. She would be too good if she had something more ranged.

I have no trouble getting in against range characters. Once I get in, it's over. Knowing the maximum range of your moves so you don't whiff is key.

Too good? Seriously? Compared to what, the insanely high damage output of the rest of the game, or the fact that 2A's from many characters stop rush-down characters in their tracks because they're globally fast? Or because when you're getting rushed from her, you can easily sidestep her faints and whiff punish. Or because she can get easily zoned out? Or because her only good brave edge out of her brave edges gets blown up by horizontals AND grabs unlike the old version? >< With Natsu existing, that's really not fair to say...I mean, she's extra ridiculous.

And, even if you're really right, it wouldn't have been too nuch to give her Xianghua's 44B. It would have made a fun reverse mixup game with B+K, but now she doesn't retreat far enough. Can we at least agree that Xianghua's 4B would not have made her overpowered?

Is there any way I can see you play? I'm not sure I understand exactly how you'd go about this. I mean, I'm decent, but these are problems I never really had to deal with as much as a Taki player, of course.

Unfortunately, I have no means of getting any of my videos up. I was an Amy player if that makes anything different. I'm used to having short range and without relying on certain moves to get into people in order to run my offense. As for my skill level, I would put myself above the casual player and someone who would place mid tournament level.

I've played a bit more, and I think her 4K mixup is the only thing that will make her as a viable character. Get in, 4K > mixup, build meter, BE mixup, repeat.

4K puts you at -2 on block. AAB after if you expect a counterattack and you will often counter hit it. Fast characters like Natsu likes to counter your counter hit bait with her AA, but then you can 2A or 1A under it. If they expect a 4K then will most likely duck, but if you think they expect it, just 3B. Repeat until you have meter.

I basically learn off of Kayane's videos and I try to play like her.

I considered that, I've seen some of them. I think I can work on it. At the same time, I'm pretty sure those 4K options would be considered reverse mix-up, would it not? =P Options to beat another's options, or am I just losing my mind?

Well nova you'll have to get better before you can see what im tryin to say

I kind of want to play you to see what you're talking about. I say I'm decent simply because I haven't had the chance to test my abilities at a place outside of my state yet at a mass tournament level, though I have battled decent tournament players, definitely.

Does anyone have any tips to handle fast chars like Natsu?

I have an incredibly hard time just trying to hit her

>_>

Leixia 2A = God. Use it. =P Plus, you're just as fast as her. You shouldn't be getting outspeeded.
Play good defense, and you likely have the advantage in this fight.

Or they can just 2a after 4k, beating everything you do.

44B doesn't jump back as much as before but it should dodge most 2A's. If the guy always 2A after your 4K you can GI or JG.
