Who would you buy?

Now, I want someone to explain to me what's so cool about Talim.

Talim has a 100% unique move even when compared to the SCV cast.

Talim has a fun evasive/guessing game based movelist that still has room for improvement. But could easily be improved through stance cancels and frame adjustments.

Talim as a personality is still unique when compared to the rest of the cast. Although sort of similar to Pyrrha she is no where near as big a pacifist as she is. In fact Talim never says anything about not being willing to fight.

Talim is so fricken cute I just wanna pinch her wittle cheeks @_@

Her style was quite unique as opposed to other characters. Her design and background brought something fresh to the series (well, I mean, when the series was still fresh a la SCII). I think her and Zasalamel helped define the series as a diverse weapon based fighting game, using styles and weapons that were out of the ordinary.

Agreed. Their absence is conspicuous.

Imagine Street Fighter without E. Honda or Dhalsim. Not the most popular characters, but the fact that they were there somehow reinforces the "Street Fighter-iness" of it.

Does that make any sense?

Call me an ass, but I could probably stand a StreetFighter game without Honda :P

SoulCalibur is different though...somehow. It really DOES feel like a loss when a regular cast member isn't present.

Talim might work online, but she doesn't stand a chance against most of the cast in real life.. Her personality isn't really unique, she's just a random cute anime CaS girl that wants to save the world. Her design is terrible and hard to understand, and if she had returned, her boobs would have inevitably been massive. I think that there are several styles that are similar and yet much better, like Taki, and that the character needs a major makeover both in her moveset and her design in order to deserve a spot in the next game's roster.

For "out of the ordinary" we have Tira, Setsuka, Ivy, Yoshi, Voldo, and several other much better characters, and Tonfa were a very common weapon for a very long time. Soul Calibur has been diverse since the very first game, and not just for having different kinds of weapons. All of these reasons are just superficial and don't really affect the actual gameplay.

Considering we will most likely be getting only 1 DLC character just like IV, and that 1 character is Dampierre....

Well, actually, if we did get DLC characters, I'd pick Talim. It does not depress me she's not in V already but she was sweet and kind and generous and annoying so I'd buy her.

Couldn't you say that for pretty much all the newer characters though? Especially Pat and Pyrrha. Kawaii desu ne.

Plus Taki did get a makeover. She's now a 17 year old ginger ninja who does in fact have a spot in this game.

Actually a big boobed arrogant ninja sounds very familiar doesn't it?

COUGH doa COUGH.

Also we no longer have setsuka as a character any more.

ALSO are you forgetting that Kura got to finals with Talim at Nationals?

Not to mention Zero Effect placing 8th very VERY recently.

Also. Talim is unique within soul calibur. Her style, again, does need tweaks but these are relatively easy fixes. Frame adjustments and damage adjustments and stance cancels would make her amazing.

So you asked us just to be able to throw your opinion ?

Actually, she's not very powerful. So online, facing a good Talim-user often lead to a long match.
But speaking of personality, Taki is just blank.
And... "In real life" ? Seriously ? What kind of lame argument is that...

Just accept the fact that as a whole, she's more enjoyable than other characters.

That's the thing. If i can share an unbiased opinion (seeing as though talim was my main,) it'd be awesome to see her back. I mean, she had alot of potential. Alot. She was young, and you could take that places. She could turn into a dark priestess, she could actually change her mind as she grew wiser, she could have children with Seong, (hand-me-down style?) to cut her off like Project Soul did is really ... questionable. Which also takes me to Zasalamel. In a way, he formed a serious foundation in the series as a whole. For story, he was a pretty big sacrifice, but i doubt we wont see him in the story mode. Could be wrong though. Hopefuly the bros down at Project Soul will see this thread and be like "...we need a DLC." but we can only hope :L
