Evo 2010

Azukin: I play in MTGO, nick De Praestigus Daemonum, but I just recently picked it up, so I dont even have a constructed deck.

Ah...I can see you as an MTG player. Putting together a constructed deck on there is too damn expensive. Running people over in drafts is much more self-sustaining. ^_^ Not that I've had time to play in years.

I use the free Magic online apps:

Magic Online Workshop for constructed/casual play testing

draft.bestiaire.org/ for draft play testing

But as far as MTGO goes, I have far too much invested in the real cards to go and try to buy/collect the online equivalents, so it will not be an option for me.

Anyone gonna bring decks to Evo :) ?

Vints - Lmao!

Noface - You can't blame ppl for that. Shits jus bound to happen. In all honestly its easier to blame Namco, cause they always find a way to fuck shit up. Ppl tried not to make the same mistake with VC by banning what looked like broken shit this time around. Either way u look at it tho its ugly and everybody will never be satisfied.

Magic Workstation is generally the standard for free online Magic. Supports card images and a bunch of other stuff. magic-league.com will help get you started. I quit the game because the luck factor was far too prevalent over in-game skill, anti-meta deck choice, and other factors.

There's still a few places in vegas that do FNM at comic shops so check it out. I'm out of magic forever though, moved on to more skill intensive games so no deck.

Clearly I stated i'm not interested unless Thuggish/RTD is at a tournament or its international. Yes my tournament life not my life for SC4 revolves around those things as I feel that's all that's left to feed my challenge in a game that's dead.

Now it's THAT kind of attitude that has also contributed to why the game is on it's deathbed. First off, what makes you get off saying you're not going to travel unless it meets those requirements? Instead of doing that, is it too hard to bring everyone else in your area up to your level? Wouldn't that make things more interesting? Or is that too much work?

Honestly when i read that i stopped reading your post becase that alone is a bullshit post that should've been kept to yourself, much less the signature of yours. Sure there are a number of things that contributed to this. But people with that kind of attitude should just leave. Period. Providence is right about that. Negativity doesn't help the situation.

Now thanks to everyone else who has answered the question,

Malice: Smash is still going because there are WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too many kids. Otherwise, that game would've died long ago. Never have i seen in a game to where you have a limit # of times you can do a certain move/setup. That alone is a reason why the game would be dead. You and i both know this.

Belial: I really don't know what the scene is like in Europe, but i can see what you're saying to an extent. But is it true that Hilde was banned long ago in Europe? (PLEASE DO NOT BRING UP WHY SHE SHOULD'VE BEEN BANNED, THIS IS JUST A SIMPLE YES OR NO QUESTION)

Noface: QFT, people DO need to compromise, because in the end it REALLY is about the community. However, there is a line that needs to be drawn. If something is overpowered, fine. But if it isn't broken, banning it shouldn't even be an option. Period.

just adding my .02

Hajime: Me and MTGO go all the way back. I quit when I picked up Calibur around 2005, now its time to get back. But hell yeah, right now some _standart_ decks cost something like 1000$ lol.

Azukin: Yeah I know what u mean, I'm doing drafts so far xD And no I dont use this free software, maybe in the future, I'll let you know.

Chicken: No she wasnt banned so far, she's been only recently banned in France, in russia and afaik the rest of europe she's still unbanned =(

ChaCha: I was a fan of Apprentice in my tourney days. Made practicing with my group a hell of a lot easier.

Perhaps you'll be disappointed in the "new" (not really that new) UI then. I know I am. =/

no standard deck costs $1000, even if using lots of "money rares". T1, 1.5 and maybe extended but never T2. I had a competitive Rogue deck in Mri/Rav and that beast was $350-400. That's about as high costing a deck as one could own. Bah why we talkin bout MTG here?!?

I have a buncha old magic cards in the attic from when I used to play in grade school rofl. Arabian Nights or whatever, and the one after that? Those worth anything now?

Haha I used to play mtg in grade school too. My brother and I use to steal boxes of them from walmart. Then my brother broke my GBA, and I sold all his cards to a bunch of people at school.

Lol @ this thread.

Interest died off. What can you do? NOTHING. SC4 still has a lot of untapped potential IMO (and I think everyone who was at Cannes can agree with me on this) but the interest just isn't there. The damage has been done. Most people outside the community feel the game is trash. Many inside the community think its trash. The game is no longer new. And finding new players is hell without an already thriving scene. I really only hope that SC5 is announced soon (and for God's sake please have an Arcade version) and they make it at least fun to play and patch the shit out of the really dumb shit as it appears.

I don't think it's trash and nor does the community. The online community is another matter and lets be honest, who really gives a fuck what they think? When I talk with casuals sadly I hear "I loved SC3 more" or sometimes "I loved SC2 more". The casual gamer likes these simply because of SC3's customization and 2 and 3's single player. In fact they almost seem to prefer a better single player experience than the online offered by SC4. Naturally they're disregarding the games mechanics and the actual important stuff involved in game play, but that's a casual gamer.

Arcade version...probably not gonna happen. SC just isn't that popular in Japan and really that's the only place keeping arcades alive. Arcades are sadly dead (why someone hasn't created a "console" arcade similar to a LAN Cafe, still baffles me). Tekken 7 will see an arcade release possibly. However, to play devil's advocate, their is a huge rise in popularity with fighters since SFIV and with Tekken still in arcades, SSFIV, and the announcement of MvC3 that will likely go to arcade, we may see some kind of return.

Patching should be a huge thing with fighters. Shooters and MMO's constantly patch when things are broken (except MW2, but that's run by the biggest ass fucks in the industry). Fighters could save themselves if they did this more. Blazeblu needed it, SC needed it, SSBB REALLY needed it (but leave it to Nintendo to make that impossible), KOF...well KOF needed full refunding...still Fighters in particular suffer the biggest issue of balance. In the past they only had arcade to test and then had to bank on the console to come out right and were stuck after that. Now they can tweek things and keep people playing. Not patching Hilde and Algol was a serious mistake that hurt this game a lot. If people expect patches as well, they will be willing to deal with mistakes better. Look at TF2, those guys patch all the time. No matter how many people bitch on the forums, no one makes "Well I retire" threads because they know their bitching is being heard and will eventually be fixed if valid.

with that being said (since Tekken at least attempts with different versions of it's series 5.0, 5.1, DR lol) is there anyone that has ties to Project Soul to suggest game testers either that OR

Within each character forum, we should have a thread indicating buffs as well as nerfs that their characters would need to be balanced...or something like that.

For Example (IMHO)

Astaroth:
6K should be -12, not -14. Either that or offer more pushback just like in SC2
Bullrush cancel should come back for mindgames
66B should have his High & Sp Mid. Propertie again, however, the high does knock back while the sp mid is negative on hit.
1B should be -18, not -16, however regain the ability to RO
The A-throw should be how it was animation wise
66k should be tougher to step

something like that....

So all the preaching and filibustering aside...

Who wants in at my Evo side tourney? I will just up and run one, and it will be efficient as fuck. Afterwards we can all QQ together about the game and community that could have been, exchange bittersweet embraces and drink milkshakes in sorrow together.

Sign up now so I know how many stations I have to secure.

cha cha

im definitely in. IFB at Evo is confirmed (assuming some job doesn't demand my time during those days). How would the side tournament be handled. Also please tell me we are going with the Algol/Hilde ban like the rest of the civilized world.

I really don't care about banning either. If allowing them causes 'more' people to not join, I'd allow them. If banning them causes 'more' people not to join I will ban them.

For now, I guess let's say they are banned and if it causes some kind of emo lashback, then I will allow them.

The goal here is to get as many people as possible, and show that we can still have competition and fun with the game.

Now it's THAT kind of attitude that has also contributed to why the game is on it's deathbed.

Possibly, but I beg to differ. Think more critically and you will realize I probably have less than 0.01% to do with any contributions as to why this game is on its deathbed. Its a recurring theme in SC history that it dies in its own special way everytime.

First off, what makes you get off saying you're not going to travel unless it meets those requirements?

What makes me get off saying i'm not going to travel unless it meets those requirements is ME! Why? Go back a few posts if u like.

Instead of doing that, is it too hard to bring everyone else in your area up to your level?

There are a couple people in my area that's on my level. Ramon beats me based on our last few outings, BUT I refer to him as local Ramon cause he travels no where except his own local scene where well the outcome is always the same. Then based on the few occasions where he did travel he doesn't or didn't do so hot hence local Ramon. If ur thinking why even relay this information. Well its because he talks a lot of shit behind the scenes and makes excuses for why he didn't travel and if he did from what I remember so i'm content that he can beat me based on our last few matches. Everyone loses to someone even within the greats but that's where his status ends.

Dreamkiller is boss and needs no explanation even if I don't associated with him like that. No hate here he's cool regardless and he's another that backs things up when he needs to. If the France character lock wasn't one person per character he would have been an awesome NY U.S representer.

Woahhzz is boss and hella cool and would love to play him on a regular basis but I have no interest in the game any longer. Unfortunately he genuinely can't travel which is why I once offered him travel expenses.

Wouldn't that make things more interesting?

No! What would make things interesting is if all the high level competitors who was once here come back~ Omega, The entire ATL, Ceirnian, etc. (u get the idea) along with the above mentioned and in my signature and get to mash it up (Where's IdleMind GU PART 2?). Then I would pop the game back in for training. Sorry bro that's just my perogative and trust in this statement TOP COMPETITORS ROUGHLY ARE ALL THE SAME IN OPINIONS OR MOTIVES.

Honestly when i read that i stopped reading your post becase that alone is a bullshit post that should've been kept to yourself, much less the signature of yours. Honestly then I hope u didn't read this one because I have a tendency to blurt out what others are thinking but keep to themselves. I'm actually someone that has traveled a number of places for this game and still have or had numerous conversations with a number of SC competitors and TRUST ME THEIR OPINION IS NO DIFFERENT THERE JUST MORE QUITE ABOUT IT.

ShenYu's post not to far above explains just a little. A number of people outside the community look upon this game as trash and a number of people inside the community look upon this game as trash for whatever the reason.

Ironically I favor this game over all fighting games which is new since TK was my favorite but T6 not so much so it moved out of the way. I look upon this game as trash however because of a number of different aspects about the community and not about the particulars of peoples personality within the community.

Seriously this community needs to get it together and stop making so many excuses. Making things look like all beautiful colored rainbows and pretending the game is alive is getting no one anywhere either :) for those of u that take that stance. LOOK AROUND ALMOST THE ENTIRE USERBASE IS GONE. Sorry my posts are not rainbow flavored.

Hey SU, just cuz I don't respond to troll bait anymore doesn't mean you get to use my patented "Wall-o-texty-text" without citing me for credit.

It was done just for him in the hopes that he stopped reading where he got to the point where he stopped reading. Get it.

I apologize for not crediting ur wall-o-text skills...

P.S credit goes to Ivyfanboy! :)

Troll bait needs to be re-defined in definition by the way... Happy go lucky people get to salty when there is non-rainbow flavored posts and or responses...
