Framework for re-establishing SC4 on a global scale!

i'm convinced there's an ATL scene that can be brought back to life. i haven't attended an actual tourney since regionals and can't make it to FSAK due to fall classes and $, but after this quarter is over, i'll have my license and get my shit together enough to start trying to make things happen down here. more gatherings and more searching on PSN to find good Georgia players who are willing to try to revive our dead scene.

there are venues down here, a couple quite close by, as well as people who'd be willing to use their homes (me among them). <3u soul calibur.

Wow 3 pages in a day...

Listen, to everyone who's stuck up for me and what I've done/tried to do, thank you. I appreciate it.
I just want to make it very clear that after FSAK, I am very very done.

I have really had enough and it stresses me out. I love the game, and I love alot of the people in the community; but that has availed me nothing. That said, to those in this thread who DO want to do something, whatever it is; don't make the mistakes I've made.

Tournaments don't do shit without the grassroots community to support them. Grow communities first; grow friendships and brotherhood amongsts communities... then you can do all the hype shittalking $$$ tournaments you want. Every other way is destined for failure. I know; I've tried.

Now, to throw Jian under the buss, talk to him about NE. Actually, anyone in NE. They are all capable people who love this game too.

Now onto MOD MODE; just try and keep it civil please.

Attention, thread: "Haters" is officially cliché. Stop saying it, it sounds childish, not to mention annoying.

S-U, I'm just a GA player, but I would like to lend my support to your idea, because it seems to be in good intentions. There's not much I can do ('cause of grad school and cash), 'xcept spread the word with people I know, but it that helps, I will be glad, because it will give me a reason to get serious about SC4 again. But, man, honestly, first you have to stop all of the finger pointing. It takes away from the point of the thread and devolves it into something entirely different. I don't see why, but I guess I can understand why you might be frustrated, if you feel people are crashing in and trying to derail your intentions. But all of the (thread-related) criticisms just seems to be about 'what' this goal is supposed to accomplish, which, what I am guessing from what I read so far, is to create a list of interested SC4 players and inspire those people to create and/or attend local tourneys. If that what its for, then great, sign me up for GA. But first, you should make a defined statement stating the intention just for the sake of clearing up the confusion. I say this, only because I want to see good things come out of this thread. With that in mind, props for trying to jolt some life back in the SC4 scene (which, by the looks of this thread, you seem to have succeeded, one way or another.... ^__^;;....), thanks man.

G-Sides: I'm like 90 min south of ATL. I only have a 360, so I can't see you on PSN, but if you ever know of anything SC4 related going on in ATL, please let me know, send me a PM or something. I have myself as well as a friend (or few friends, depending) interested in trying to play more SC4 (since it's usually only us playing down here anymore)

Here goes the important points.

This game cannot be revived without some important key points.

If u notice in the first post of the thread I have re-establish the east coast first. Some might see this as bias if their simple minded but its important. Throughout this games life cycle the east coast Tri-State Region (NY-NJ-PA) in combination with the New England east coast region have been the biggest supporters of the game. It had the most life. Therefore its the most important and without focusing on here first the scene cannot grow or be revived at least not on a huge scale.

Then under that I have listed as #2 re-establish the west coast. The same things that I stated for #1 apply here as well. The west coast California region was the next biggest supporter of this game. You need this area as well but their is no need to be hasty without jump starting the east coast region I spoke about above first. Which is the reason I laugh at the unknown RANDOM DUDE while he questions me about who I'm contacting and did not contact this and this person cause he spoke to them. I did not need to at the time contact KrayzieCD even though I actually send him PM'S on PSN that he did not get a chance to get read at the time. This is the initiative I took and I'm aware who to collaborate with and who not to.

That's another reason some people should be left in the dark cause they're to quick to criticize and even if u did explain it to the a fair number would still be quick to criticize even though their not doing shit themselves. This is a fact of life and should make sense. The only reason I even created the thread was for two reasons HELP ON GETTING NAMES TO PULL FROM HENCE THE LIST making my initiative easier and AWARENESS which is really important and I will explain more about that later.

Then #3 is getting back the other regions that are scattered. Here goes the cold hard truth about #3. All of these regions might not be revivable simply because the install base is to small and scattered but its still good to be aware of who is in ur area active or inactive. Inactive is just as important because first u know who is there and believe it or not inactive players can come back and in some cases do through incentive. I stated this earlier in the thread. Some people have the kind of personality that they will only show up or comeback based on what else had been achieved. I am partially one of those people so I know. I just revived 2 complete inactive players from NY that have been gone for quite some time that's enough proof in itself to back up my grounds for doing so.

Next Nationals was special. It gave people something to look forward to for the game. There was nothing better. In fact Nationals was only bogged down besides of the unbelievably dumb decision to have Nats and Evo a week apart. In all seriousness how could whoever did that not see such a huge flaw in that design. Other than that one flaw its design was to bring the best of the best in one area. It succeeded but lost at least 30 of those who qualified cause of choosing to go to Evo and not being able to afford both which makes sense. Nationals is also the perfect invite for international players to come here. It gives them the incentive to do so with this tournament being expected to have the most support and turnout behind it. We need this back and the name needs to be changed to something that fits for international players as well as something that brings massive hype like World Game Cup from France and it needs to be advertised/sponsored or something. If no advertising or sponsoring is done it can still succeed but why not go all the way out.

Soul Calibur should not isolate itself either. That would be dumb and make our lives more difficult. We need to be in the spotlight among other more popular games such as SSF4 and T6 even though are game is not as big. We can easily match any other fighter in numbers except those 2 and MvC3 when it drops. Which brings me to #5. Not only do u need a local in each region but people need to be AWARE of the most important majors to be at and travel for and support. The East Coast had 2 and now just has 1 which is FR who dropped us cause we did not support and NEC which we still have. People need to support both the selected local and major for that area above all. There are many majors and tournaments etc. but no offense to those organizers some need to be more supported than others. That's what my post somewhere in this thread with the tourney layout was made for. So for example the tri-state region in combination with the NE region has NEC that comes along once a year. Make people aware it needs to be supported and its one of the majors people need to travel for.
So when u think the upper east coast u think the local I'm going to create and NEC.

Then comes the last one #6 focusing on a neutral geographic location. This should be self explanatory. Figuring out what's the easiest for ur player base to get to increases ur turnout making more people more likely to travel. This is common sense.

I wrote this up on the phone just like I always do so it will be edited later on. With all that said even though I created this initiative solo and started the spark I am not alone nor ever planned to be alone and I am working with Nori, KrayzieCD, and Oof. For the hidden haters that claim this is damaging to the matchfinders its bullshit. Certain parts of this site receive more traffic than others. There are a billion people that do not even frequent there let alone read the forums. This is where me using my name S-U and the controversial shit that surrounds me comes into play. I am very intelligent and just like I said I know how to manipulate my haters. All of my threads blow up and fast because of 2 reasons. 1 people know me and those who do not in person have heard of me on some level. Then 2 my haters will increase that traffic through drama. Just like Lobo and whoever else which I knew before the thread would come in somehow someday I just underestimated how much.

It's a win/win situation. The AWARENESS is out goal achieved and u could consider me cocky by it or smart.

With all that said this could be the last SC game. Do people honestly want to give up and let it die? If this dies then what do we have? I don't think people are really looking at it this way. Again I wrote this on my phone and it will be edited on a computer later.

Jaxel: Thanks for ignoring my entire post and proving my point. If you don't support the game, you don't support the community. At least you finally admited it, so thanks for that.

Everybody else: It REALLY is as black and white as we are making it. Don't worry about anybody else but yourself. Don't worry which top player is doing what, or what random guy or whoever is doing/saying. If YOU like the game, we will announce the dates of tournaments and show up. We are hard at work planning big things for SC. We will find the money, all you need is a plane ticket and fire to win.

WTF are you talking about? Once again, S-U, you completely ignore reality. NOBODY forced bans down anyone's throats. I banned them from my tournaments as a TOURNAMENT ORGANIZER, not as a mod, I didn't force anyone to follow my rules. And you know what? These bans DIDN'T make people quit; if anything they made people stick around for longer than they would have if we didn't make the bans. YOU are the only one who said you would quit if we banned Hilde, and you know what? YOU STILL SHOWED UP!

You complain that the bans came at illogical times... The problems with the bans is that there really wasn't a logical time to make them. It was easy to ban star wars and bonus characters because they were obvious. Hilde, not so much. Sure, she appeared to be broke after a half a year; but who knows what would change. For the first 3 months, everyone was saying she was the worst character in the game. After half a year, everyone was saying she was a best character in the game. When would have been the logical time to ban? Maybe everyone was overreacting to how good she was, only time could tell us.

Why were ban threads closed? Because there were five billion of them and there was no reason for people recreating MULTIPLE threads stating the same shit over and over! If threads already existed about the legality of Hilde, why did we need five new threads a day bringing up the same issue! We closed you're threads because you are an IDIOT and still don't understand simple things like this. There was nothing wrong with what my moderators did.

You are a TROLL. You may be an offline player and show up to tournaments, but even in real life you are a troll with delusions of grandeur. "this is bigger than me or anyone else but low and behold my haters are to concerned with my popularity as opposed to what I could potentially do for the community." We're not talking about your popularity, we're talking about what YOU COULD POTENTIALLY DO FOR THE COMMUNITY... which is NOTHING.

This thread serves no purpose, you say you can do stuff for the community, but then don't actually say anything that you can actually do. Stop self aggrandizing yourself. If you want to do something for the community, then do it.

Hmmm....what about CW's Question?

S-U, KDZ is my friend, so its only natural that I ask his opinion on things, just as I asked anyone else within my community. I may not have asked YOU, because you live in your own little world I have no interest in your thoughts. You can't insult me out here in public, then send me a private message, and not expect me to answer your PUBLIC message in PUBLIC. Besides, I could barely read your illiterate mumbo jumbo in your private messages.

But yes, KDZ is my friend, and I hang out with him 3 times a week, but that isnt what made me decide to run the streams at The Break. I run the streams because I LIKE SSF4. I may not be any good at it, but its a fun game and very well balanced. If you notice, I never ran the streams for the SF4 tournaments. Why not? Because I didn't like the game. If you recall, I used to record and upload videos for SC4 as well; in fact, I put some pretty good production on those videos and they were available in HD!

Yes, there is occasionally a RARE game that can survive the test of time, but for every 1 game that survives past the second year, there are at least 30 that don't. Not just in fighting games, but in all genres. And those games that survive the test of time, usually have corporate support from somewhere. Where do I stand when at this point? Well I'm sure its pretty obvious, and I've never lied about it...

I SUPPORT THIS WEBSITE AND THIS COMMUNITY... I will not support Soulcalibur 4; until NAMCO shows me that it deserves it.

......what about nori's post?

Wow 3 pages in a day...

Idle, i would like to apologize for my post. I completly forgot that you are Running FSAK. Thank you to whomever pointed that out for me.

Case in Point Jaxel, you have also proved me right as far as this turning into a "i hate SU thread" or an "i object this thread because SU started it."

Besides, you're contradicting yourself. you can't love the community w/o loving the game. Period.

Its funny Jaxel has been calling me an idiot, delusional throughout this thread yet his post explains it all. He uses backwards logic and states Namco has to prove to him that they deserve his effort.

lol.

Not to mention I simply asked for him to show up and nothing else. This is part of the reason my stuff makes sense.

Out with the old, In with the new, and he is not good as anything more than a site admin.

By the way Talim_JP, Jargen88, etc. I read ur posts and it will be edited in when I get a chance.

QFT. At this point, most of you have ignored the "hating" posts and decided to move on with the help and support from this thread to keep the fire alive. For that i say congrats. But it doesn't stop here.

Now it's the time to show up, and play. But here's how i suggest to do so. Play other games. Hold monthlies in which it would help other games and possibly support them. In turn, MAYBE they might play this game. With it FINALLY being structured this will allow SC to move on from this dark time we've experienced.

Also, as a community i suggest we do away with the current rules and play the game as it should. (i do dislike the custom characters being allowed ONLY because of the fact that they can't be transferred like how it was in SC3, not because of hitbox issues...)

Damn! SU got motherfuckers writing essays!!!

Either way, to stay on topic, I think, speaking for Chicago alone as I don't know other place's situations, the potential for a SC scene is huge! We're honestly just lacking a way to get out there that, "Yes, we do play SC offline regularly" and that we need some type of actual place for the players to call home. I'm going to look more deeply into obtaining a dedicated venue, networking with other communities and events (You'd be amazed at how simply being at some place such as an anime/gaming convention can draw people in who love the game and lament over not having anyone to play regularly with), and pretty much...just learning how to get stuff done.

Said it before, but I think Idle would've personally been the best bet for a 'leader' for this community. He had the right ends for the community, but I honestly don't think everyone (myself including, though I have my 101 excuses) save for a few scenes were even trying to do something near the write thing to support a nationwide community (and. say what you will, no one scene can save all of the Calibur in the States).

And this is why I'm saying, for whatever problem you may have with SU, you should all just save it. Right now, he has a direction and a goal and that's more than damn near 95% of us have. His shit fails? So what? I'm sure, so long as we all love and keep playing Calibur, supporting the COMMUNITY rather than how we feel it should be, someone else will come along with a bright idea or two. And, though I'm not giving up on SC4 by a long shot, if SC5 rolls around, we've had enough practice to lay actual foundation down that a little hateful clique or two doesn't cause a schism and ultimately hurt the entire community.

Just wanted to give a shoutout to KingAce, too, because I thought I was the only one seeing it. All of this negative bullshit we have going on here, no matter how little, hurts the community in a big way (especially when coming from people who are supposed to be leaders within it). You all don't know how fuckin' annoying I think it is when you have people telling new cats who come to the site that the games dead and then turning around and bitching because they only get a couple of people to prereg for a tournament in their area.

Still, I love all of you guys. <_<

Going by S-U's post, I would definitely love to see the events of last year revived, mainly because I missed out on all of them. Maybe this thread should be used to plan for future SC4 tourneys? Maybe starting by trying to add even more hype to FSAK?

1 Step Forward, 2 Steps Back.

Learn a lesson here and LET IT GO.

-Idle

Let me ask you this, "Do you think the enormous support you have gotten for FSAK; due to it being a major or because it's Idlemind running it?"

As stressful as this has been I am certain, from where were we stand you have achieved a lot in this down time.

I hope you stick around for at least you input, it will be appreciated.

@Jaxel:
The head of the biggest SC community in the world should act more humble and avoid to attack and insult other members. This community is completely divided because of shit like this. I'm off.
