Exactly. This is as truthful as it gets. Though I have something in mind for Idlemind since I value him and he is the only one that has a reason to bitch. Jaxel to once he becomes his own person and stops following everything KDZ does. Even in my harsh response to him earlier in the thread those are about the only two I care for that I actually did appreciate the things they have done.
 
CW...i plan on continuing to support local events, continuing to offer my time, home and money to strengthen the community, continuing to organize events when i am capable of doing so, continuing to protect and watch over the online community in spite of the stinging reality that it is most likely for naught, continuing to travel and play the game that i love, and continuing to voice by dissenting opinion when i see a steaming pile of obvious bullshit.

jaxel has, by creating and maintaining this avenue for us to even be having this discussion, already done more than enough. this not to mention the DOZENS of tournaments he has held and the community he has largely created in new england.

idlemind is too busy prepping for FSAK, the biggest and most hype american SC4 tournament...possibly ever...busy right now working his ass off in real life to create a major and bring the community together. how can you ask him to even address this? talk about a slap in the face.

frankly i am insulted that i even had to make this post. then again, i am bored and do respect you as a community supporter i have known for a long time. i wouldn't expect the others to dignify this with a response, though.
 
Lobo: You are acting like this is SU's list or something. All he did was make a post. We can add to it. It's quite simple. If there are people that play offline and are willing to travel, now, I see no reason why we wouldn't list them. It's not like SU copyrighted it. All he's trying to do is get something started. If you have a better idea, then let's hear it, cause the current method of "look in your matchfinder" isn't working. To me, I support a list, I could care less who makes it, of active players I know have a good 90% of showing up. I think we need to put egos aside and just get shit done, as I keep saying, it's just that simple.

If people are offended in this post, that means they aren't doing enough for their community. If SU labels you or anybody else a hater, who cares? Just prove him wrong and help us. I know you a long time, I know you take care of people when they come to AZ. But this whole thing w/u and SU is not productive, nor helping. You are considered a leader in the online community. You have been playing offline for as long as I have, or longer (at least 2002). You should be encouraging this online keyboard commandos to show up to offline to make them better players. Everybody needs to experience at least one major SC4 event.

WTF are you talking about? Once again, S-U, you completely ignore reality. NOBODY forced bans down anyone's throats. I banned them from my tournaments as a TOURNAMENT ORGANIZER, not as a mod, I didn't force anyone to follow my rules. And you know what? These bans DIDN'T make people quit; if anything they made people stick around for longer than they would have if we didn't make the bans. YOU are the only one who said you would quit if we banned Hilde, and you know what? YOU STILL SHOWED UP!

You complain that the bans came at illogical times... The problems with the bans is that there really wasn't a logical time to make them. It was easy to ban star wars and bonus characters because they were obvious. Hilde, not so much. Sure, she appeared to be broke after a half a year; but who knows what would change. For the first 3 months, everyone was saying she was the worst character in the game. After half a year, everyone was saying she was a best character in the game. When would have been the logical time to ban? Maybe everyone was overreacting to how good she was, only time could tell us.

Why were ban threads closed? Because there were five billion of them and there was no reason for people recreating MULTIPLE threads stating the same shit over and over! If threads already existed about the legality of Hilde, why did we need five new threads a day bringing up the same issue! We closed you're threads because you are an IDIOT and still don't understand simple things like this. There was nothing wrong with what my moderators did.

You are a TROLL. You may be an offline player and show up to tournaments, but even in real life you are a troll with delusions of grandeur. "this is bigger than me or anyone else but low and behold my haters are to concerned with my popularity as opposed to what I could potentially do for the community." We're not talking about your popularity, we're talking about what YOU COULD POTENTIALLY DO FOR THE COMMUNITY... which is NOTHING.

This thread serves no purpose, you say you can do stuff for the community, but then don't actually say anything that you can actually do. Stop self aggrandizing yourself. If you want to do something for the community, then do it.
 
I don't see anybody else really trying to do anything besides Idlemind. I made several suggestions about forming a committee after Nats. I PMed you several times, no response. Tried talking to you in chat, got ignored. Tried AIM, no luck there either. I don't see how he is trolling by making a list and I don't see any positive inputs from you either. Your posts are always negative and for a "leader" of the community, I don't understand why. SU and I are trying to make a Nationals 2, and you can't say I didn't ask for your help after Nats. If are only concerned w/your buddies on the EC and this site, then just say so.

The SC community bans what it doesn't understand. They are infamous about it. Hell even Akuzanchacha tried to ban Amy at Evo, which is nothing short of insanity. Why not just ban everybody but 5 chars, or better yet, let's just play the demo version at SC tourneys? SC players look for any reason to quit. That's how many of them are, including some "top players". So instead of putting a band aid on the problem w/all the stupid bans, why not teach people how to beat it? Make them understand some of these guys winning tourneys have been putting in hours and hours of practice for YEARS, they didn't just press start on day 1 and start winning tournaments.

Argue all you want about him being a troll or whatever, but there is zero leadership on 8wayrun and it's been a problem for a long time. I've said this to you in PMs, AIM, chat, etc but never a response.

It was like pure oppression. This was long after she was considered to be trash real early into the game. So ur either denying it or ur timelines are messed up.

People creating threads over and over was a REASON. Clearly everyone had a major issue with her or else so many threads would not have been created. Seriously what your saying does not make sense. If people are creating threads left and right and complaining about her there is a reason for them creating it. You guys up there just didn't give a fuck about ur community's opinion at the time.

KDZ brought it to the table to u after Nats and that marked the first time u banned them at ur tournaments. Tell me i'm wrong. In fact I think its on the very forums if it wasn't in java chat. You did the same shit when u attempted to make a site for BB. Who asked u to do it and said u should and then tell me what happened. U got blacklisted to some extent by the guilty gear forums. You never make decisions for urself which is why as great of a supporter you once was your not viable imo to make any decisions cause u lack that kind of personality.

Which is where IdleMind comes in and the fact I said in my last post I have something in mind for him. I will convince him to stay. I was around then, and I didn't have to fight the ban of hilde, because I felt it was right at the time. All I remember from you was a bunch of silliness and after she was banned I remember you taking the attitude that SC4 was dead, and you were no longer playing outside MMs of $50 or more. As jaxel said, it didn't cause anyone to quit outside maybe you, apparently. How am I a hater? You came into chat and said "stay out of that thread." I have a right to say no, and explain my intentions. But when I said no you flipped the hell out at me. What am I supposed to think of you now, S-U? You ask what I've done at DEV- I housed people, picked everyone up at the airport that needed it, brought people housed at mine and lobos to and from the venue (around a 30 min drive) in a car too little to carry them all. Never asked for gas money, I still don't need or want it, I was helping people out. Housed an extra person for a night when things came up- even took them for an extra trip. Brought many back to the airport too. While yeah, this seems like a small contribution, I shouldn't have to have contributed shit in order to help a revival. But I need to know what I'm helping, and of course I'm going to voice concerns.

I plan on supporting KCD in any way he needs. At first I planned on supporting any kind of plan that went up here, but there was none. I was remarking on that fact. If I'm going to get shot down because people think I'm hating on S-U (Who I've admittedly been more aggressive toward since he blasted me for no reason) Fuck the plan, I'll move on to what I know is happening, and the closest is in cali.
 
ManlyMcManLove: I can speak for SU when I tell you exactly what we need: bodies. We need people to show up offline to gatherings. It's hard to plan majors if we can't get commitments from people. Do your part, get the people around you to play and travel. List the people you know are active in AZ. That's all we need, we'll do the rest:)
 
If it was that easy, this game wouldn't be dead like it is today.

I still love SC4, but the game is old, people rather play SSF4, there's too much negativity going on here, this site is poorly moderated, people are too spread out geographically, and new players aren't coming into the game. Until someone has an actual as to how to bring new people into an old game that has little competition instead of games that are newer and have more people that play it, I don't see how much else can be accomplished.

Botsu and I made regular 2 hour trips to play tourneys and casuals with Krayzie and the crew. Other NorCal people need to travel at least an hour to play (i.e. Hates, AlexJ, Manta, etc.).

I could care less if im on the list, but the players I listed (especially tiamat and Prometheus because of my deep respect for both of them) definitely deserve to be counted.

-hudathan: ran shit around here for a good amount of time

-SW beta: attended a good number of events here

- me been to gatherings, which kinda proves im willing to go places(if im not included who gives a fuck)

S-U, wtf are you talking about? Either you have no semblance of reality, or you have a bad memory. I was one of the people who was actually for banning Hilde. I couldn't ban Hilde because Nationals didn't ban Hilde; and it would have been wrong ban a character from my tournaments, when what was supposed to be this community's most important event ran a different rule set. If I recall correctly, I even DID ban Hilde at my monthlies before Nats. I only ran the Nats rule set at the larger tournaments, and my monthly right before Nats.

It had nothing to do with what KDZ has ever said to me; I don't even remember if KDZ thought Hilde should have been banned or not. I had decided that we would ban Hilde after nationals LONG before hand. Stop talking when you have no idea what you're talking about. Why do I constantly have to prove how much of an idiot you are? The only thing I ever did because KDZ said I should, was creating the BB site.

It's funny! I ignored ur responses cause I thought u were being a jackass but after reading an actual humble serious post by u for the first time. I decided to look at the list u gave me that I edited into the list a long time ago. What I did not realize is u gave me the list without ur name on it which I did not notice before. To distracted by the retarded posts. Problem fixed.

Competitive gaming is a business; a business that is becoming more mainstream and relevant with every passing year. People in the FG community fail to realize this. We’re selling something here, that’s our game and our community, and how we market that is very important.
What killed this game, was obviously a serious lack of understanding how marketing works. A number of veterans really thought this game was some how immune to this stagnation, when countless numbers of people were complaining about Hilde, the community choose to ignore them and hoped they would eventually just accept it.

The reality is, whatever you’re selling has to have value to the customer. The customer doesn’t have to put up with crappy quality, especially when they’re competitors with better quality. The popular FG communities have many advantages over us, one being organization, the other a strong history and most importantly a dedicated player base. Obviously Namco is a shity company, and if we’re a shitty community the game stands no chance. Funny, just when Namco gets enlightened about the state of competitive game in the west, all it’s efforts are on Tekken; leaving SC into the dust.

So what to do now. This was a weak community to begin with, and it shows…lack of dedication is very self evident and the negative attitudes even if minor echo louder than the positive…and they do have effects. Now we look at other communities with spite and envy, and have completely given up on the game. Yet how much effort have we even put into the game?

The game being old is a bullshit excuse, older games have passed the test of time and to date are still runnig strong. No one said two years was the mark that ends the participation of a game. People stopped playing the game because it wasn’t fun, the community wasn’t catering to the average player but to the Elites; those people whose opinion carried the most weight. Yet no community survives on good players, all communities run on the little people, the scrubs and the noobs. Despite the game being fun, we sucked the fun right out of its competitiveness.

So how do we move on from here? The grass roots are local, if you can find anywhere people get together and play games, you can market the game there. Show up play what they play, make friends and see if they have any interest in what you’re selling. The best thing you can do for your game is just playing it. SC is fun and easy to pick up, the community should concentrate on making its competitiveness fun and appealing.

When I talked to Wolfwood a week ago, he’s running an hella of an FG event at Quakecon this weekend, he asked me if I could prove him wrong. In regards to what he saw and what he had been told, that SC4 is dead and nobody was showing up to play the game…he runs an arcade and Sundays are free for Tekken and SC. People show up for all other games but SC. He tells me why should I as a sponsor put $500 in to SC4 when I have no guarantee that anyone will show up to justify my investment. Players are showing up loving and supporting their games, but not SC4. So I was to prove him wrong, and how could I. But when I thought about it, his arcade is the perfect place to get new SC players, just showing up and playing that day, I had one old skool SC2 player try his luck against me. And a couple of guys that still freaking play SC3 which I found funny.

Yawn.

We’ll do what we can. So I will ask nicely this time let the thread get back on track. You attacked SU, he attacked back, now please clean up your acts...and let the thread move on.
 
Ceirnian- No character or stage is banned in Japan (for SCIV at least), course we usually play the arcade edition but there ain't one this time.

I (at the least) thought that this thread would be nice for playas (new and/or old) to look at and see that there are still people playin the game (be it off or online; true offline is preferable) around the world. Havin this info in one thread is convenient (but ya, no one said to close the other matchmaking threads).

BTW I don't know Something-Unique (saw this thread referred to in someone's post).

Can you add 'Japan' to the 1st post?
You can put 'Talim JP, many Japanese and some foreign playas'.

We're startin to talk about France so we'll see what happens.

Havin fun playin the game at people's houses or at more organized events and online in between.
 
S-U, KDZ is my friend, so its only natural that I ask his opinion on things, just as I asked anyone else within my community. I may not have asked YOU, because you live in your own little world I have no interest in your thoughts. You can't insult me out here in public, then send me a private message, and not expect me to answer your PUBLIC message in PUBLIC. Besides, I could barely read your illiterate mumbo jumbo in your private messages.

But yes, KDZ is my friend, and I hang out with him 3 times a week, but that isnt what made me decide to run the streams at The Break. I run the streams because I LIKE SSF4. I may not be any good at it, but its a fun game and very well balanced. If you notice, I never ran the streams for the SF4 tournaments. Why not? Because I didn't like the game. If you recall, I used to record and upload videos for SC4 as well; in fact, I put some pretty good production on those videos and they were available in HD!

Yes, there is occasionally a RARE game that can survive the test of time, but for every 1 game that survives past the second year, there are at least 30 that don't. Not just in fighting games, but in all genres. And those games that survive the test of time, usually have corporate support from somewhere. Where do I stand when at this point? Well I'm sure its pretty obvious, and I've never lied about it...

I SUPPORT THIS WEBSITE AND THIS COMMUNITY... I will not support Soulcalibur 4; until NAMCO shows me that it deserves it.
 
You guys spend more time Battling each other on the forums that you do in Real Life or even Online....didn't even waste time reading the thread....just a bunch of names....

Just hype the game up. Teach people not to listen to haters. Have Fun.
