There are at least two option for playing techtrap
one is kill tech roll = techtrap
other is kill no tech roll = kill no tech

1/3A+B [tip][CH] > iFC1KK [tip] = kill opponent tech roll = techtrap
if opponent stays on ground, then go :
1/3A+B [tip][CH] > 9B+KB4B = kill opponent no tech roll

also
FC1KK [tip] > 1/3A+B = techtrap
opponent stays on ground, go 8B+KB4B then....

ah ok i get what they mean now.

But my question still stands. if you use 1/3A+B after iFCKK [tip] will the 1/3A+B whiff? I know that 1/3A+B can hit opponents on the ground, but iv whiffed with that attack while the opponent is on the ground when they are very close, and that leaves you at -20 which could be enough for a poke from a WR attack. I would test it myself but im at college right now and dont have my SCIV.

stardustwla, you are the man. However, this tech-trap mix-up indeed has some weakness.

Anyway, my suggestion are:
- To give up the tech-trap mix-up and use a Combo Changer like 3B's combos.
- In close range, use 3B or iFC1KK.
- In far range, use 9B+K.
- This combo changer is easy and guaranteed everything.

InsaneKhent, mmm... I think the FC1KK can be good in close and mid range, but the strategy on close range and mid range may be different. Maybe stardustwla has somethings inside his pocket? =D

FC 1KK sucks, 33A sucks.
In wakeup with mina, you either gamble 1A+B_3A+B or try to force a block with 44A+B or you hit grounded with , Pogo,2K, 22K and 2A+B and cancels or whatever. Don't go too fancy. Her tech traps aren't as abundant, and if you guess wrong, you can end up suffering more damage than you would have dished.

Khent, no, you misunderstood. I was always talking about 3A+B(CH tip) combo. See post#303 and my reply. Follow-ups: 3B or iFC1KK or 9B+K. No 8B+K.
I understand why you said many Mina's moves are not good. Every Mina player is suffering, however, you are way too negative on Mina. IMO, we need more fresh idea to make Mina to be good.

hotnikkelx, Seriously, I don't see FC1KK is suck on tip and close range when it is used to evade a high move.
In wake up game with Mina, there is always a move can do a force guard on different Wake Ups (90% of them).

FC 1K sucks for me cuz it's always blocked, TC or not, the gamble is too huge. Funny article Malek wrote there, somethings i think he overlooked but it doesn't matter much, the conclusion is the same :)
Khent, you purist you, i told you b4 you started that Mina is going to be a lot of pain, suck that shit up.

My Mina game is focus on chance more than frame/CF.
So 1/3A+B[tip][CH] > 3B no good for me, because opponent will out of mina tip range.

1/3A+B [tip][CH] >
3B hit ground + opponent wake up = mina out range...........................
9B+K hit ground + opponent wakeup = mina tip range, [escept tech front]
iFC1K hit ground + opponent wakeup = mina tip range
etc..........

Don't make opponent get closeup/runaway easily at tip range. This is main point.

Khent i'll cheer u up with some of the good Mina stuff. She has hands down the absolute BEST backdash in the game. It is analogous to Lei's haha step in tekken. Tap 4~G (careful not too fast or u'll parry). A+K is great at tip range. I recommend Mina's to use it, many neglect to punish it.
The rest comes down to pure skill but these 2 things help tremendously when you work them properly. I've backdashed out of so many things with her.

Lol. I wouldn't go so far to say she's useless. If you can play solid 100% she can give many other characters a hard time. But she's definitely the worst character in the game I think. It's too easy to open her up once she slips up.

And yes she has awesome backdash.

That said, I don't play anymore. Lol.

For 3A+B, use 3A+B(CH tip close)->3B_iFC1KK and 3A+B(CH tip far)->9B+K. If the player is not sure about the range, do B or 2B.

Anyway, it is ok la. Your 3A+B(tip CH)'s tech-trap mix-ups still work on many characters. So it doesn't matter la.


InsaneKhnet, I will not argue if Mina is suck or not in this thread because I know it will be no ending from my experience. However, I just want to get new strategy and new idea in this "General Strategy" thread.
I believe your Mina's knowledge is way better than Malek's because you are the best Mina player in US. You don't need a Malek's post to support your points. As a Mina player, I know what you are talking about, and I understand your situation.

22K is an important move. It's one of her only safe TCs, and it's stops steps.
6A by itself is not as horrible as it is on paper. On hit, prepare autoGI step or 4A. Most opponents don't duck the followup K on reaction

Unfortunately, the whole "playing the characters you like and/or for fun" thing gets old. However, there is another thing called "I'm 31 years old and don't give a fuck anymore about this nonsense". So maybe if I had a fresh new start on the game, I'd factor in character strength regarding who I use.....but what's the point now? I can't go back. I'd just rather stick with the character that I'm most familiar with.
