Guidelines for the 8WR Video Directory!

Just in case you guys didn't realise, we now have a section exclusively for videos! However, with such a system, there of course comes a series of guidelines that I am hoping the community will willingly comply with... If you have never seen the video directory before, you can visit it here: http://www.8wayrun.com/video.php. The video section will be monitored and moderated closely.

First of all, every video you add to the directory must be your own. And by this, I don't mean that you must have been the one who made the video; I mean the video MUST be on your video-service account. So if you are adding a video from YouTube, it must be a video located on your YouTube account. Any videos added to the directory that are not on that user's YouTube account, will be deleted without notice. This is due to various reasons, but mostly because of YouTube's arcane video deletion system.

Secondly, I have just added support for TAGGING and a TAG CLOUD! This makes it easier for people to scope out videos specific to certain characters. If you have added videos in the past, character usage tags have not been automatically added; you must go through all your videos and edit them yourself. Tags should be as accurate as possible; so only administrators and the owner of the video will be able to edit tags. Tags should stick to character usage only, since player names are listed in the titles and can easily be searched on their own.

Next... the video directory currently supports video from YouTube and YouTubeHD. If you would like me to add support for other video services, you are free to ask, and I will take them into consideration. If you have a YouTube video available in HD, and would like to add it to the directory in HD, simply change the HTTP in your link to HDEF. Don't do it with non-HD videos or you will break playback.

I want to re-iterate for people... SPELL YOUR CHARACTER USAGE TAGS CORRECTLY!

When you are adding tags to your video for character usage, please spell the characters name. Do not use nicknames, and most certainly do not use short hand. This of course means that Xianghua is Xianghua, not X. Cervantes is Cervantes, not Cervy, Sophitia is Sophitia, not Sophie... etc... If you spell your tags wrong, then they are excluded from proper searching and then the whole purpose of the tag gets thrown out the window. Also remember to spell "Seong Mi-na" and "Yun-seong" correctly.

Page... it has that... type in the first few letters of a char's name, and then a drop down menu will pop up with matching tags. I wrote the tagging system for the video directory myself. I wouldn't forget such an important feature as that.

I must be retarded, because I can't find how to add videos. I looked in the FAQ section and saw the "button" I'm supposed to click on, but outside of that I can't find it. Why can't it just simply be in the Videos section...

Wow, that's weird... that button doesn't exist for me. It's simply not there on my screen...

Edit: Um, just kinda updating this. I still don't have the option to add videos. Is there a reason?

The 'add video' option doesn't appear on the main video page. You need to click on a category first.

Alright, I'm having a bit of trouble with a few of my new vids. They're not loading properly when I add them. I though maybe it was just a one time quark, but I tried deleting the video and adding it again.

Anyway, here's the link.

The best I can get is an error message. The video plays fine on youtube.

Its broken on youtube too... Watch the video on youtube and click the HQ button (all videos on this website are played in HQ or better). Notice that it will break. That means this is an issue on Youtube's end. They will fix it soon enough.
