[08] Mercenary
I am not a Yoshi player, and for me he is so random and confusing. I am having a tough time against him. Could anyone give me any pointers?

Thank you so much for your input. It really is appreciated! :DIf you can space and zone Yoshi, he's harmless. His MED isn't that great. It only teleports where the opponent goes. So figure out how they work.
DGF(Dragonfly) is easy to counter. If Yoshis do it too much, just do a generic BB for instance. The only two options you'll see from Yoshi is DGF B and DGF K should you get hit by one. If a Yoshi has you near the edge of the ring, block low. Most Yoshis I've seen however love to do DGF K because it's easier to follow up than DGF B.
Despite that, you can avoid the DGF B and DGF K mix-up should you be on the ground. Wait until he whips either one of them out then punish.
Flea is also easy. Simple generic pokes work.
In general, if you see a yoshi in a stance, just use simple pokes to knock him out of it. Anything else I suggest you practice blocking the move that kills you the most. Something like 214A can only be avoided if you block low.

That's what I noticed. When I thought I had some of his setups figured out, someone would drop something completely different at me and trash me around. I am currently using Tira, and have been trying to get the most out of her range, but I find myself freezing up a lot because I simply don't know what's next.Learning his move list and how to react to his shenanigans can go a long way, but every Yoshi player is very different. I know quite a bit about the character but every decent Yoshi player surprises me with their style of play and choice of moves. You have to have a lot of experience just to deal with the gimmicky setups when they're thrown at you on the fly, and the solid abilities of the character underneath it all can be eye-opening even to the seasoned pro.
The points about zoning him are correct -- you cannot fight a good Yoshimitsu. You can only run away or get pounded into submission.
Well, in theory anyway. In reality, there only a few players that can execute that kind of pressure. Most Yoshi players are playing a different character than Furzy, Froz, Lolo, and I. Without tight iMCFs and the ability to convert CHs to big damage, Yoshi's close range game is just a bit above average, which is not enough to compensate for his mid-long and long range weaknesses. Zoning really does work wonders on him, but, like everything in the game, that can be overcome by smart movement and Just Guard.
Awesome! At the very least, Learn to space him and know when to punish his unsafe moves. Yoshi's most notable moves to punish include: 3B, 214A, Deathcopter B, MED B, DRGNFLY K, FC 3K, and 4KB.
His Copter stance is probably the most infuriating to deal with as a person with little experience- You just have to go in training and memorize the attack animations. When a yoshi goes into a copter stance, I usually IMMEDIATELY duck low. Reason being is because it already eliminates the use of both his A attack (BA) and his K. His B attack from copter can be seen a mile away and is almost react-able, and slow. Don't forget to stand. But keep in mind that his B attack from copter is SAFE. Do not try to attack with anything unsafe.
Yup. The high and the low aren't seeable but the mid kinda seeable. Under pressure it's not an easy thing to block, though. When in doubt, GI.Seeing that the low is i22 and the mid is i30, maybe i should always block low and try to react to the mid?
*snip*
Hey yoshi players, i find myself struggling to block his Dragonfly mixup. Considering that all my yoshi sparring partners are telling me, that its a reactable mixup, i thought there may be something that i am missing here?
I set it up in training mode but i really cant react to it. Seeing that the low is i22 and the mid is i30, maybe i should always block low and try to react to the mid?
Or is it not really reactable? Thx in advance
Awesome!

Not true, you can sidestep on reaction to the SDGF transition. Even SDGF A won't beat sidestep either if you hit G when you see it.IF you crouch, Yoshi can SDGF from his DGF really fast and use the Unblockable B. Near impossible to dodge if your ducking.

DGF and SDGF are tests of reaction, not mixup stances. So it works better if you have mentally pressured them first. Though good luck hitting anything with these stances against 3 year veterans. Gotta do something creative like getting them to pay attention to reacting to the stance properly, then stance cancel into something else.
or inexperienced playersI guess I play too much online lag matches :|
