Irvine tournament and fundraiser!

It's a 10 min drive, but if you're busing it'll probably take 30 min.

Cook - I feel like you don't trust me and Rob and Jade Phoenix, the three of us are organizing this together. The retail value of the prizes will probably far outstrip the amount of money that is taken in by entrance fees. Luckily the prizes are all donated out of the good will of people who have stuff they don't need/want anymore.

It's not a secret, but it is of a personal nature.

well regardless we'd like to know where this money is going towards. i thing i'm gonig to have a charity tourney w/ all proceeds going to me cuz i'm broke.

I deffinatly think it takes major balls to ask for donations and not tell us where they go. If i have a garage full of stuff i want to sell, Instead of having a garage sale, I should just throw a tournament and give it all to the winner while keeping the money? If that stuff is worth more then the pot why dont you just sell it and throw a normal tournament?

Either way ill probably be there because i need the practice. I only bring this up on principle...

I would definately not trust anyone throwing a fundraiser who is not clearly stating what it is for. I am not saying you guys are shady or anything but it really looks like shady behavior if you keep people in the dark like this. Fine the prizes outshine the entry but people want to know where their money is going even for a good cause. You are asking people to donate without stating what the reason is and you are accusing people of not trusting you? Grab some common sense.

I really wish Jade would at least post in this thread because I can understand what you guys are talking about. If I was an impartial observer on these forums, I would come to a similar conclusion as you guys.

On another note, I was able to grab some more promo items from Atlus. It's all Persona 4 stuff:

2 Yellow Medium Persona 4 shirts (these were exclusive giveaways at AX this year).
2 Persona 4 Calendars for 2009
2 Persona 4 B-Side Soundtracks

And if this wasn't clear before, all of these prizes that we've listed are all going to be given away. So this'll actually be a tournament where more than just the top 3 get paid out.

Lastly, props to Hencook for bringing your gear to the tournament!

Ack, looks like I'm busy at that time. I was looking forward to this, too. :/

Any objections to a no-name showing up for some casuals?

Anyone who is bring their PS3 mind bringing an extra PS3 controller? I got lucky last tourney, and I would hate to show up and not be able to play :/

when do u think the tourny will end? i probably wont be able to make it but i could come play some casuals after in the evening.

right now it's looking like I might need a ride down if I'm going to be able to go...so anyone from the Rowland/Hacienda/La Puente area willing to swing by and pick me up on your way down?

If someone can grab me I can bring my PS3... I really don't think my car is going to be fixed by Saturday afternoon.

Sooo it's now 5:39 am and I just realized you guys were hosting this, haha. I really wish I could make it but I don't have a ride :( So unless somebody wants to swing by buena park (I can chip in gas $) I can't really go. PM me for my phone #/address if you're up for it.

K, I might be able to make the tourney if it's at 4. We'll see. I look forward to meeting up and talking regionals :)

However, I'm curious whether or not you could even house 20 people at the same time Rob ^_^;;

She should sell her xbox.

Jade no longer owns a console.

Jade also does not have internet anymore - she has to go to the public library or someone else's house to post online or check her email.

The funny thing about the tournament is: The only people who would "lose out" a little are the top 3 finishers, who won't get cash but rather get their choice of prizes. Players who place 4-10 or so will be happier as they will actually get something in this tournament, unlike in regular tournaments where they get some pride, but that's it. If I were able to go to this tournament, I'd go regardless if it was a fundraiser or not because there's a good chance I'd actually get something, rather than just the experience of 2-3 games before being knocked out by people like aris, link, vicious, king, and devilx.

After consulting with a wiseman, I hope this is enough to know: Jade needs some cash to move back home so she can help her family and herself. She currently doesn't have a job and is essentially a single parent.

would appreciate to play last match in first round of brackets.

leaving from work so 4p will be calling it close, but def bracket me please.

i know it's national rules, but yoda allowed please?

I'm on the fence. I have a bit of a stuffy nose still, and am a bit stuffed up with a cold.

Do I come and risk passing around what could be some form of exotic hippy plague? or do I miss yet another gathering.

Feel free to park anywhere that isn't covered guys. There are usually plenty of open parking spaces in my complex, and there's room to park on the street next to the apartment too. I don't really have a set time that I'm planning on ending this, so people are free to drop by for casuals if it isn't possible to make it in time for the tournament.

It'd also be nice if people didn't start showing up until 1~2pm or so. That way I'll be able to clean my apartment a bit before.

Well, doesn't look like I'll even be able to drop by for any casuals. :/
Anybody in the Irvine area interested in getting together one day just to play? It sucks not having anyone to play against.
