Loud Stick?

So I have a TE stick and while I love the Stick on it, the switches are loud as fuck. Being an Ivy player, my iCS and SS inputs suffer a lot since the sound actually telegraphs it. Very common for the person next to me an joke about "omg, what move could he possibly be attempting". Sure I can fake buffer and do a mid, but that's a lot of extra work and frame loss just to pull one trick.

So I got tipped of Link uses laser switches instead so his is SILENT.

Any thoughts on how I can either tweek my stick to make it quieter or but a stick that's high quality but silent?

you sure complain alot
thanks totally helpful.

I have a Sanwa Flash board that I am willing to sell for $300...
Naw, just lookin for a part, not a new board. I like my TE. I'm just lookin to fine tune. I played on the normal SFIV fight stick and while i feel it definitely inferior, it is a lot quieter.

I just have no clue how to know if a product is silent. Even my parts buying guide makes no mention for sound clicks and it is actually an issue in small rooms, particualrly with an opponent next to me.

Jaxel, what does that mean? A Sanwa Flash board? Just curious? Is that the pcb that it comes on? The whole thing minus the stick?

Why did they stop making those? And why, oh why, did I ever sell my flash stick?

Your friend might have wired in different Omron switches with different poundages...lighter I would assume, but that would be my guess. Unfortunately, the only reason I know about all these switches is JLFs and Sanwa Beatmania buttons. Louder = better.

I like it loud. Even my buttons are loud. People say it's scary when I bang on all four buttons for a CF, because the springs in my button cylinders make a faint ringing noise, and they kind of harmonize when you hit four at once.

I'd still prefer them not to here a stream of clicks and then the slam for the obvious indication that I tried iCS. I do smack the gate, but I do that with ever motion and it only smacks on some parts. The clicks are very obvious. This doesn't hurt me in tournies though since they're loud enough to drown it, but in a room....yeah...I'm forced to sit far away and hope there's a bit of ambient noise.

link's stick doesn't use lasers, they're ir leds (it's a sanwa flash). and even thought jaxel wants a fortune for his flash pcb, it's all you need. just swap it out with the one in your te and run a 5v line to it and you're good. unfortunately, finding one for a reasonable price is impossible. i'm actually working on a drop in replacement but it's not a high priority and i don't know when i'll ever finish it lol. your cheapest solution is probably to replace the microswitches with something quieter (sorry i don't have a reccomendation on brand and model there)

and please don't put anything inside your switches, you'll run the risk of damaging them and the slight fix is only temporary before they'll jam up.

thanks for that insight *puts paper away*.

I'll reference the microswitches in that lil guide of mine and see what i can dig up instead. I may get the IR's but money is too tight right now.

try farting really loud when you do your iCS or whatever. It should mask the sound and you'll probably kill them too.

Hope i helped.
