A) I thought we couldn't vote for whoever proposed the challenge, to keep the contest rotating amongst entrants? If that's not the case, then Gatsu absolutely took it, though that might just be because of his sheer number of high-quality entries rather than the quality itself.
Well, that's the "tradition" but the only rule we agreed is that the challenger is who puts the rules, so if the challenger says his own creations are votable, then it are.
On reality mine Dudley it's at 3 (you, Chobek, RDmunhoz)
But again, as said to keep variety i've no problem to find a 2nd place and give him the next round choice
Problem is on theory the contest was only about single cas that get most votes(to not advantage who made multiple entries)... but as now there are many entries at 1 vote, none at 2
I say to give it to Brucege, his Cammy got 1 vote but many stated to have it as second choice (me too)
Basically look like it was the CaS more likely to win if was'nt possible vote my stuff, i say to give it to him
Make a knight. A traditional damsel-saving, dragon-slaying knight. B-but wait, BruceGe! That's so boring! Precisely. Use all those special equipment slots and stickers to turn this overdone trope into something interesting, something you. Stumped? A quick google search will reveal knights of all different shapes and sizes across innumerable cultures and eras. You can also incorporate other elements of character design using the following formula: knight + X = ???, where X can be anything, like angel, demon, mage, barbarian, maid, cyborg, or even pirate (no idea how that would work, but it might be worth a shot). Just be sure that at the end of the day, your creation's still primarily a Western-style knight.
Contest will run from today till May 12. Voting will run from May 13 to May 15. I will also be taking votes for my creations. In the highly unlikely event that I should get first place, the contest will be passed onto the second place winner, as we did in the previous contest (minus the shit show). Votes are counted for creations, not the creators, so always specify which creation you're voting for. In the event of a tie, I'll count any secondary votes/close seconds as half-value votes. Have at it, people.
Notes on the conception of this challenge:
Gatsu's challenge had the liveliest participation of any one-shot challenge to date. I believe this was due to the low barriers to entry (ease of recreations) and also to the community's familiarity with the topic (Street Fighter). So I thought to myself, what's easy to picture and easy to create while leaving ample room for creativity? Knight CaS. This challenge has the additional benefit of encouraging participants to get back into originals. Only time can tell if this challenge works as well in practice as it does in theory.
Cool! Voting ends on my Birthday! Anyway, should it fit with Soul Calibur style, like knights and warriors, or anything? Oh, and how many entries are allowed? I'm asking too many questions..
Doesn't have to exactly fit sc style, just as long as u look at the cas and u go 'o dats a knight.' However many entries u like. Best of luck to ya mate.
Now this is my first attempt at one of these rounds, so please don't be too hard on me..
Anyway here is Hilde! our wonderful Knight in pretty armor.. Hehe
Going to enter this one, since I can take half-decent pics of my CaS now. That and, whilst I'm all Captain Critique and whatnot, I don't really share mine enough.
Richart - The Silent Knight.
+ I wanted to take a plain helmet and add some unusual decoration.
+ The shield locks onto the gauntlet perfectly.
+ I chose a small shield to promote a sense of maneuverability, being a fencer and all, it'd not do to have him weighed down.
+ The shield is also small as it's designed for parrying rather than outright blocking.
+ Despite appearances, all the bronze parts of his armour are the same colour on the palette.
I'll edit in the backstory and stuff if anyone wants it.
Hey guys i just discovered your forums and i kinda find your work very nice but seriously i'm a bit random here, i'm not a ''user'' of this forum, i subscribed because i saw your contests and your character version art. I find it cool cuz i'm doing this but with my pencils and colors but its a random style each time. And then i see you funny-too awesome-epic medieval-knights-charachter-version and i toought maybe i could ask for a character request :P i first saw the Megaman one and it's my fav game character and theses days i thought it would be funny to fuze it with a contrast of his world and i stumble upon peter pan, wich is totally a contrary version but i found it strangely logic to make them fuze...so anyway with your Knights i'm thinking maybe this could be great if you'd try to make a peter pan Knight!!, i'm just askin like that but hey seriously, good work!
Nice job, guys. Old work's fine, but I do prefer originals since this challenge is so damn easy.
@Danzig1nTheDark: Welcome DD! I'll see what I can do for your request, but you should probably move that over to the request thread. If you're looking for general tips for create-a-soul (CaS), just click on the link in my signature and post your questions. Also, do try to shorten those sentences. Best of luck to ya, mate.
This thread is a competition thread. It isn't for making requests nor anything of the sort. The only things that ought to be posted are entries to the contest. Any text-posts should be limited to contest discussion. The complimentary part was, obviously, nice of you and acceptable discourse, provided it doesn't meander on for too long - It's good to keep discussion to a minimum during the entry periods, so as to keep submissions close together. Makes it easier for the voters you see.*
If you do have a request, this is the thread you want. If it's an obscure request of a thing that doesn't exist, try and gather a bunch of images that sum up different aspect of what you want, and post them.
Please don't reply to this message (in this thread at least), lest we continue to deviate further from the topic. Also, double posting is against the rules, and means you'll be giving our already over-worked mods some more trouble. They won't thank you for it.
You can use the EDIT button to, y'know, edit your post and add anything you missed into that. You can also use said button to delete a post, which is handy as well. Hinthint.
Thank you for the kind words nonetheless.
*Yes my post is contradictory to that. Necessarily so though, I'd say. :)
