Nightmare General Discussion/Q&A

Also, why suddenly, just guard, just guard fucking everywhere? I almost can't even attack anymore, people are doing it on shit like 6K and punishing me for anything and everything I do...

If they are doing just guards in non punish situations you can take advantage of the fact that they must be standing still to do it. Grab them or spam out 1Ks

if they are just guarding everywhere it means you're playing extremely predictable.

note where they are just guarding...

Here's some pointers... to help you out.
1. They are JG your fast moves, it means you're attacking them with fast moves against moves that is safe on block... it means they understand the frame game.... to counter just throw them... This can be applied if you're at frame advantage trying to hit them with a fast move as well....

2. They are JG the first hit of your slow moves consistently.... it means they are decent at JG slow moves... and you need to either avoid using them or use them more smart (like 88B for instance......)

3. They are JG the second or third hit of your move.... it means if you just do one hit.. they are probably not prepared to punish you for it because they are busy buffering the JG to go against your second hit.... or... if it's 22AA switch it up to 22A or 22AA6...

4. They are JG your FC/WS moves.... in general most FC/WS .... note which one you're using either throw them when you're in FC (might be they used a force crouch move on you to set up the JG....) or do something that messes up their timing like WS A....

5. They are JG your unblockable.... surprisingly Unblockables are some of the easiest to JG moves....

hope this helps

I feel like a fail for not being able to do this move but how do you do 1aK? I just cannot get him to go into the throw at all, just keep getting the low. Sorry if this has been asked/is somewhere though.

do 1(A) and keep holding the A button while mashing on K. I think there is another way to do it but this is how I do it

the way i do that is while holding A i press K button then with the 2 buttons hold you just have to release the A button (depending on how fast you release the A button then the faster the high claw attack comes out)

is something like this 1(Ak) release A
(hold A then while holding A hold K then release just the A button)

It really sucks that 2a can fuck up GS transitions so bad. I really wish GS K BE had a revenge GI built in to counter this. Is that asking too much? Lol

Exactly, Hell make it so the revenge GI only worked with GS K BE but not without the BE. They really needed something to counter this. GS is supposed to be an offensive stance but with 2a killing all options it seems senseless.

Unless they have a super long 2A you should be able to do 3(B) blocked > hold 4 to make 2As whiff even at point blank range. WR B > press nothing/hold 4 makes 2As whiff. Also, 1A and 33B will make 2As whiff if you don't GS from it.

Hey Guys.

I recently saw a YouTube vid, where Nightmare kicks the opponent and it stuns. Anyone know what move this is? 1 person even used it on me online, it can be followed up by a 2A+B (animation will follow).

Thanks!

Is it NSS K? That's the only kick I know that stuns and allows 2A+B follow, well that and 2(K).

Awesome! Thx guys ^^ I always go NSS B since it's a low & people almost always fall for it, so I never actually tried K haha. Thanks for the replies.

NSS B is a bit too slow for my taste, I'm not saying you shouldn't use it but it'll get very predictable if you use it often or not if someone doesn't block on reaction or just don't care about being hit by it.

The problem with NSS B is that more experienced players will block it on reaction. It makes a good mixup every now and then with NSS A as they are getting off the ground though, you can sometimes bait them into eating one or the other if you can make them expect one and do the other.

NSSB is one of the best long range lows he has, it tracks if you didn't know. If you knock someone far enter NSS and you have a good low that won't be punished on block from that distance and isn't likely to whiff.

^this. The only other long range low attack that isn't ungodly slow is the 2B+K BE, which guarantees 3(B) b:A, not too sure if there is a better move after quake, but I use it to get free damage all the time, plus they can't sidestep it no matter what. :D

I was wondering what are NM's best uses for meter. Aside from the occasional GS K BE and random CE, I always seem to be running on a surplus.

I actually really like 4K BE, even though they just block it sometimes, but you can follow up with a 3B right as they stagger... they usually fall for it since it's such a fast attack, and they'll try to attack you after that BE so if you can manage that 3B, they'll probably eat it :)
