That's what I reckon - maybe the stage will gradually darken as the match progresses? Kind of like some of the stages in KOF (London stage starts foggy, brightens up after each round). I'd hope that only Capcom are lazy enough to call re-skins "new" stages :)
 
as now,even if my biggest wish will be a Venice stage, for the love of variety i hope for many as possible not-european stages:
middle-east (palace? desert?)
south east asia
Africa (sub-saharian)
Egypt
India
Japan(still want a stage for Mitsu)
Very nordic snow-ice stage (only european location may bring in something truly new)

But yes,give me my damn Venice stage,is on the map too :D

But as situation i admit europe still may give a lot,i will like a remake of SC4 circus or a classic knights tourney

but in the trailer, raphael's intro animation was shown on said stage, so the match had not even started yet. thus, the daytime doesn't seem to change progressively.

Why?
I very doubt it will take a slot,more likely will end up switchable on the same, i hope many stages as possible get an alt version... quick work for them,more stages for us! :D

Example the Leixia china one (the night one with dancing paper dragon and all), imagine how it will look a total new stage if you just take off the dragons and many peoples, and set it into a very sunny day

Or the Ezio one, turn it into day,set of the flames and you get a very quick job new stage

As long an alt don't take slots,obvious

Dead or Alive 3 was perfect because of the infinite combos, and that Snowy Stage. Haha I know I said that before, but do you see how beautiful DOA looks stage wise in that aspect? I think they can pull it off. If I don't see a Snowy Stage I will message Project Soul. Its loooong overdue.

Soul Calibur Enviroments are too clean! Haha

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 has the dirt & grime pick up on the characters throughout the fight. This not only adds more of a realistic feel to the game, but also gives players something to laugh at while fighting. It also looks damn cool too. (Sidenote: Harada pissed alot of people off by making the release date so far off [Holiday 2012] I was too pissed!)
TTT2 is so damn modern! I Love it
