Then she can use her custom blades? I mean, if you use a custom, the video shows the custom blade explode. Besides, in SC3, she had the Prototype Ivyblade that still worked, just not as well. She could possibly make another sword.. She could have Nightmare breathe life onto a new model while making a false promise to return Soul Edge to him and destroy Soul Calibur.

I more or less agree. I'd replace Rock with Astaroth, and Seong Mina with Kilik (sad but true) and there you have Calibur All-stars. The one place I'd disagree is I think top 3 is, in no particular order, Mitsurugi, Voldo, Ivy. Taki being 4th or 5th. However, when people think calibur, I think they think of those three+Siegfried, Taki and Sophie

And if you're going to quote the endings exactly, I heard that only Siegried/Nightmare ending is matter for SC5, so technically, if that's true, Ivy DOES have a sword..
 
I'm not sure how big Ivy is to people outside the core community tho', Taki always seemed more core to me.

(my version would be: Sieg/NM, Mitsu, Taki, Voldo)
 
She may not be CORE, but she's the most unique style.. And I'd say the core is more..
Sieg/Night, Sophie/Cassie (Sophie more than Cassie), and.. Well, Tira added a vital part to the story in her SC3 A ending, handing the Soul Edge to Pyrrha. I dunno, seeing as Ivy's been there since I started, the game just wouldn't mean as much to me.
 
Ivy's style is more unique than Taki's. They're both way cool, but a sword that turns into a whip AND moves on its own? Win.

That's easily debatable. The percentage of endings in the series that actually carry over to the next game is really low. Story wise it does seem like it would demand for some form of her ending to have happened, but they're not bound to anything in anyone's ending.

Taki is definitely part of the core but I think she's more core inside the community than outside. Ivy may be the most mainstream female the series has. A lot of it is for the wrong reasons, but still.

I would have put Sophie in the core of iconic SC characters too, but with her being replaced no one is truly safe.

It seems everyone is lamenting over old characters that may miss the mark of coming back... but really, isn't anyone in at least the bit excited or anticipating a new generation of completely new characters with new fighting styles?

To me the inclusion of Cassandra kind of undermined Sophie's 'importance', she seems less unique.

I like Ivy for her style. Sure, the slutty clothes is a plus, but it has no "sexual attraction" for me, seeing as I'm gay. Her style is very unique and somewhat difficult to master. She's got lots of moves, and I'd be very pleased to see what they'd do for her in SC5..
SC5+Ivy=Possibly the best game....EVER!?
 
Yeah, 214. I meant to type 235 'cause I play 2P, so my numbers are backwards. And I've played him a little, yeah.. I kinda get how he could be, but I don't get what that video had to do with him being ninja..
