problem with spammers, mashers ...

Mhhh no it is not satisfying at all for me :(
I hate to play crappy, and all I remember after that is damn this was the most boring match ever...

Well, it's only satisfying if it gets them to stop, I guess...

Don't play with that person anymore?
XD

Yeah well if I can't win vs stupid tactics how can I win vs good players ? I feel that if I manage to overcome this kind of stuff it will be a big leap forward in my general level.

its not satisfying at all

but someone who doesnt understand frames will keep attacking

for example

i am algol my opponent is who ever

scenario:

i use BB its +5 on hit most people will block after

so i start up 44B i get knocked out of it by a random AA

i just BB the person to death................

your acting like its bad to spam

while in reality if you dont you prolly will lose

So, I thought lets go online and find some random people that spam moves. I hadn't played online for some time, it was a bit weird, but who cares it was just to make my point. I didn't manage to find something balanced, it was mostly bad players, lag abuse or other stuff.

I then fought an OK Mitsu player. I messed up badly at several points.
I also was pretty tired, it was like 2am, but that's not an excuse...

Video :

Please give some advice if you can ^^
The noise is my stick, I tend to mash stuff.

Comments

Round 1
0:26 : didn't punish properly, (6:6B!) missed input and did 6BBB :(
0:30 : didn't punish with 2A (yet i could), but not so important
0:36 : miss 66B+K hit confirm after tech trap (but that's online) ...
0:39 : WTF happened ? Why didn't my 6BB connect ? Is BB tech crouch of something ?
0:50 : I was stupid : repeated 2B+K. Should have some a mid
0:52 : didn't punish : did stupid 3BA. But maybe it was lag because 3BA = i18 and Mitsu 3B = -18
not sure what side I should have stepped at the end of the round (must learn Mitsu vs better!)

Round 2
1:01 : i just throw out my launcher and get CH from his 4B stuff. This is silly of me
1:04 : i was too far to punish with 66B, should have done 33B instead of whiff. But he steps weirdly and my 6:6B poke connects
1:12 : 8A+B doesn't connect. Not nice. Maybe I should do 33B instead so it never whiffs ...
1:15 : tried to go for wakeup pressure but got FC 1B instead ... should have done 33B or something
1:18 : tech trap works !

Round 3
1:37 : I ducked the RLC[A] but instead of doing a real punishment I do 6BB~236~2B+K (3RD REPEAT) and luckily he blocks but doesn't punish
1:44 : since my first 6:6B launched i don't understand why the 3rd got blocked :(

1:56 to 2:08, after my 236BBBB tech trap misses, I get completely sliced up, it was like making 50 times the wrong choice. (the 1A was tech trap I think). I really just should have done 3A or 2A instead of stupid 3B and 6B.

I always get awful pressure vs Mitsu when I'm in a corner, I don't really know how to get out of it ...

Round 4
2:17 : now watching the video I realize his pattern ; he does 4~MST at the beginning of the round. And mine so silly why risk 66A+B from so far away
2:20 : this is stupid !! I launch, but BT B+K becomes a normal B+K !!
2:23 : off axis, doesn't work. should just get slightly closer and do 33B. WHY DON'T I EVER DO BT 2K !!
2:27 : for some reason he gets hit by last hit of 236BBBBB
2:28 : i should do A+B,K ! instead of whiffing stupid BB
2:36 : at least my constant 2B+K trained him to duck and i get a free mid. Still feel I use a lot lot too much of 6BB~236~ stuff
2:37 : should do 33B ! whould have launched !
2:49 : not the best punishment ...

Round 5
At last I caught up with his pattern, so I just stay put and punish.
2:37 : another misplaced 66A+B it's a bad habit
3:01 : late throw instead of real punish. it worked but it was lucky
3:06 : that guy LOVES 4B ! notice the 5 bar going to 4 bar :(
3:10 : tech trap ! but i'm so afraid of mitsu's ground hits against the wall I can't help but get up :( :(
3:15 : I don't really know what mist 6 combo killed me

That Mitsu actually isn't all that bad.

Um, I'd rather fight him than you. Doesn't seem like so much of a spammer to me.
Advice for you: step n' GI, I guess.

Thanks so much nukleurfire, hopefully we won't ever fight since you're in Canada. You're safe.

Anyway, as I said, I was looking for spammers and came across a decent fight. So I thought it still would be interesting to post it. The only spammers I fought were lag abusers (1A and stuff) so it wasn't relevant ... I'll record my next offline match vs a spammer ...

Well, it's only satisfying if it gets them to stop, I guess...
XD

And it's even more satisfying when you spam back and you realize they DON'T stop since they either don't know what else to do or they think you just keep hitting them because of 'luck'. At least that's what I've seen on ranked.

I'm putting a lot of time and hard work in improving my Taki and of course I like to show off some flashy moves and style. And it really bothers me to see that someone thinks he/she can get away with some cheap spamming tactics. But on the other hand, spamming IS a legit tactic that you should have up your sleeve. Even if it's not fun or stylish.

I think the problem with some spammers is this:
They are actually good at spamming. They are trained in destroying your game as long as you're trying to play 'normally' and to pull off your 'usual' stuff. But their tactic often falls apart as soon as you lower yourself to their level and feed them their own medicine.
Of course, if you manage to beat them with guard impacts and other advanced stuff, that's even better. But if not, you know what to do...

hey tresto.

I know of your problem. It happens often when you borrow tactics/patterns without understanding the strategy behind them. You have to really learn inside outs of your basic setups.
Examine your options in practice mode - what is this move for? What should I use to stop my opponent from atacking? What should I use to stop him from stepping. Look for the most damaging stuff and eventually you will either outplay or outdamage your foe.
Amy has a very good option to stop spam - 66B. it leads to 70dmg on CH. It is also great to use after you've been KD'ed and your opponent is looking for a mix up.

Spammers might be hard to deal if you're not used to that kind of play, but a really good player will quickly figure out your weakness and use it to the maximum. So dealing with spammers is your first step to becoming a better player. Good luck!

hey Belial.

Thanks very much for your advice, I'll definitely be watching more of my own videos to understand better which patterns do and don't work (and others to copy !).

I'm much more confident now about being able to become a top player in the future because of what my SC teacher achieved last week. Just like me, he has no natural skill, and needs a lot of practise to get anything down. Damn he can't even adapt to something else than PS2+adapter pad !

Up to now (at least in France), I had seen only talented players do really well. DTN, C-Drik, Dina, Keev, Kayane... I'm not saying they don't also work for their results, but I'm sure that their natural abilities count for maybe half of what they do. It felt like talent+work would always be on top of just work.
(BTW I'm not mentionning Saitoh because I have a feeling he's more of a hard worker, but I'm not sure because he's the player I know the least)

Now it's different. Malek won the biggest SC4 event, undefeated. He earned his victory all the way up. This kind of gives me hope :) So go go Amy and I won't get discouraged !

(feels good to write that !!)

Bullshit. Talent does not exist in Soulcalibur. It's all work/practice, experience (offline VS and tournaments), knowledge, and the right mindset towards the game.

Although I never played him, I don't believe your "teacher" is less talented than any of the guys you mentionned...
