Pure Soul Loop Data

I'm not sure how useful it may be, but I found some interesting information while compiling this list.
The first part might be useful to those trying to understand how Maxi works in general.
The second part might be useful for more advanced Maxi players looking to find new strings and use Pure Soul Loops to their potential.

Natural shifts
(When the controller is all neutral, the loop automatically shifts to another one before going back to neutral.)
LO -> RC
LI -> BL
PSL3 LO -> BL (From BL, PSL2 leads to RO)
PSL4 LI -> BL (From BL, PSL2 leads to LO) (Click for clarification.)
PSL5 RO -> BL (From BL, PSL2 leads to LO)

Auto-GuardImpact

PSL3 and Wavering Light are Auto-Guard Impact loops.
PSL3 (A+K while in any stance) will auto-GI high, mid and special low horizontal attacks, including horizontal kicks.
Wavering Light (B+K while in any stance) will auto-GI high and mid vertical weapon attacks.

There are situations where a loop will act as PSL3.

PSL5 to PSL1 will act as PSL3 for one round and become PSL1 again after that. (PSL5->RO->PSL1->LO->BL.)

(SCIV:BD only)
In the same manner as above, starting from PSL4 or PSL5 and switching to PSL2, any transition from BL to LO will be auto-GI.

I like the formatting, Plume. Pretty straightforward and I'd imagine quite helpful for new Maxi players.

Good work.

I will edit this post and use it for my notes.

There might be some confusion because the loop shifts twice before PSL3 begins.

PSL3
RC->LI->BL->LO->RO->LO

What's important to note is that it varies depending on the first loop you start with.
Notice when the first loops of a string are orange.

A,A leads to RC.
Start holding A+K, transition to LI.
Keep holding A+K, transition to BL.
Keep holding A+K, PSL3 finally begins, transition to LO.
Keep holding A+K, weapon becomes purple, transition to RO. (Then LO, RO, LO.)

PSL3 LI goes to RO only if you start the string with LI.
This is exactly what I thought was interesting about all of this, heheh.

PSL4
PSL4->LI->BL->RO->(LO*)->LI.
There's a very little window for LO right between RO and LI.
When the weapon is resting on Maxi's shoulder, he goes in a brief LO loop while performing the transition from RO to LI...

PSL3
RC->LI->BL->LO->RO->LO

This is not entirely accurate. LI PSL3 doesn't take you to BL. LI PSL3 goes to RO, then LO, then RO again.

I just noticed that you have listed LI PSL3 into RO, but in a different line. Just fix the transition off RC and there you go. :sc2sop3:

Are you still getting different results? If so, please tell me how you do it.

No, I'm not. I don't even own the game. =)

Like you and whirow said, I didn't know that the PSL3 loop into RO was ONLY if the initial stance was LI.

Thanks for clearing things out.

Erm, from my researches i think there's something different....
i'll just copy from my guide...

( )=Repeat
PSL 1=[6] while in stance. Shifts stances while moving forward.

LI > LO> (BL > RC > RO)

PSL 2=[4] while in stance. Shifts stances while retreating.

LO > LI > (RC > BL > RO)

PSL 3=[A+K] while in stance. Shifts stance while stationary.
has Auto GI all High and Mid Horizontal effect from (LO<>RO)

RC > LI > BL > (LO > RO)

Note: During PSL 3 on (LO<>RO) phase, LO will goes into BL
instead of RC

PSL 4=[2] while in stance. Sidewinder to the RIGHT starts in RO
then shifts stance stationary.

RO > BL > (LI > BL > RO)

PSL 5=[8] while in stance. Sidewinder to the LEFT starts in LI,
then shifts stance stationary.

LI > BL > (RO > LI > BL)

NOTES: Moves that goes into LI stance goes into RO during PSL3

eg. 236B/WS B/66B4(g) LI > PSL3 >RO

With exception of A+K, which follows the rule of LI > BL

LI goes into BL on neutral shift
LO goes into RC on neutral shift

PSL 2=[4] while in stance. Shifts stances while retreating.

LO > LI > (RC > BL > RO)
To me, it goes to LO, not RO.

PSL 4=[2] while in stance. Sidewinder to the RIGHT starts in RO
then shifts stance stationary.

RO > BL > (LI > BL > RO)
I think we were both wrong on that one... I was holding A+K instead of the appropriate direction. I'll list my results as PSL4/5->PSL3 instead.

But it seems to be : RO->BL->LI->RO->BL
...And it's PSL5, not PSL4.

PSL 5=[8] while in stance. Sidewinder to the LEFT starts in LI,
then shifts stance stationary.

LI > BL > (RO > LI > BL)
This one is PLS4, and again I held A+K instead of 2, so my results were wrong.
You also made an error.
It goes like this: LI->BL->RO->LO->LI.
There's a very little window for LO right between RO and LI... Very strange. When the weapon is resting on Maxi's shoulder, he goes in a brief LO loop while performing the transition to LI...
Looks like it's either a bug, or a bonus loop, heh.

Thanks for sharing your notes, it surprises me that I didn't test PSL4 and 5 correctly.

just to clarify so we don't get any inconsistencies when I do my personal testing to verify what you both said.

PSL 4 is for left sidewinder i.e [8]
PSL 5 is for right sidewinder i.e [2]

(directions taken on 1p side...duh)

hmmm got that in the wrong direction heh...

^ what does this mean??

It means that what I get is LO->LI->RC->BL->LO. (And then RC, BL, LO, RC,...)

omg.... how i didn't notice that.... i need to be slapped....

hmmm but i never really went there sometimes,

Redid some tests...
the 1st BL from any move, eg RO A, 4A, 236A, PSL2 brings BL>RO instead

Aye, that's because you go in BL, and then start the PSL2 loop while still in BL, so as shown above, the result is (under PSL2)BL->RO.
Edit: I'm guessing that by now, you knew that, but just in case. ;)

i have a horrible horrible habit of trying to do 33B on a downed oppenent. i always think that they are going to ukemi and get right back up. the 33B goes into BL and then i try the shin poke but by then im facing the wrong direction lookin like a noob. if Im lucky Ill get the B+K in there but thats not even most of the time. The B+K will usually make them block or keep distance from me. but is a habit i want to break, cause when i get punished, i usually get punished badley! anyone got something good for the anticipation of a downed oppenent? perhaps rolling up to them in a psl..or anything!! someone help me!!

o.O??? what does that have to do with PSLs.....

anyways, here's how~ chop off ur right hand~

or u can just get urself to do something else.... its a habit~ then kick it

This thread needs to be stickied by the way

edit
TO nitpick a bit. For the sake of being thorough, i think it SHOULD be mentioned that from any loop, psl4 -> RO natural shifts to BL and psl5 -> LI natural shifts to BL of course.

Sorry, I saw your edit a little late, added.
And you mixed them up, shame on you!
