A fight stick is that large flat deal with buttons on one side and a stick on the other.
A pad is a hand-held console controller.

For anyone who's been on the fence about changing from pad to stick. Now is a great time to do so as you'll have a couple months with SC4 to get primed for SC5. Make the switch you won't regret it.

Not that I'm an apple fan, hate their trendster image with a burning passion, but I find it hard to laugh at cancer.

I feel bad for the guy. Cancer is awful, and someone like him clearly has worked hard their whole life to get where they are. I can't fault him for latching onto a good thing and staying there (typing on a Mac right now, but I'm a PC diehard).
