I have a review copy at my house now and tested some things in training:

i'm actually prefering 3(b) as followup for than CE as it's much easier to do and 79 vs 86dmg is not a lot if you keep 50% meter for other things(like another 22b combo), being able to mix to prep bbb or prep ab for dmg and frameadv is another plus.

1k,1b didn't work for me, could only connect it a couple of times when i locked the dummy between walls.
and prep k~be is mid-high, not sure if you're in block stun long enough, so maybe the high is duckable making it unsafe?

se b seems like a good combo starter too.

Off SE B so far, super and 3B, prep BB EX both work.
 
I'm starting to like BBB as a follow up to 1K / 22B (no gauge) - it does good damage (55 - no scaling) and leaves you at +2, which sets up 6B(B) and A(B) nicely.

1.I prefer using 22B, 3(B)~prepA(B) (for 61-62 damage) while leaving you in stance, which will more than likely end up as SE or prep4. Granted, you could not do the stance shift and opt for a dash in mixup.


2. Yeah successful B+K evade equals CE (with meter) or just a plain 6B(B) for 38ish damage for guaranteed damage.
If you don't have meter, you could present a mixup if you don't have meter with either a grab (back turned, as all but 3 characters have a 50% break) or you could go for 2_8B+K into followup for 60ish damage. I still don't like B+K's AE window.. it seems so short and late.
 
I think it's random, it's their clean hit system, where some moves deal additionnal damage. If you're lucky.
 
The official guide indicates three types of Clean Hit: A, B, or C.
The intution is this is the quality of bonus from the clean hit. But also it has been hinted there may be ways to influence the probability. I think this is worth investigating. But there's likely no way to make a good guess for now. Let people form some suspicions through play, then you can do science to it.

I'm going to test for likely scenarios of 66A+BG vs reaction quickstep. You guys can do the useful stuff; I got this.
 
Don't ever use 3A to knock someone into a wall after a stun to get more combo hits - damage scaling screws you into doing less damage.
 
3A isn't too terrible if you know they are stepping to your left, but yeah, I was really hoping to pop it into combos for extra funsies, like old Prep A.
 
I really wanted 3A to work at the wall like the guide suggested, but his wall damage off generic combos are fine. In fact I'm fine with his damage overall but getting it is so tricky.
 
22B > CE only does 7 more damage than 22B 3B(B) BE - this really seems like a waste of gauge to me.
 
On one hand I really like the fact that he has a 25% BE for all his combos, on the other hand I wish he had a way to spend meter in order to exert some control over the momentum of the match and not just do more guaranteed damage once in a while.
