Raphael General Discussion

CNP played quite a few matches on the big screen, that should have been him you're seeing.
Ah, no. I think it was Tony.

I only played a SF4 match on the big screen. I suck at SF4 and only entered for fun. So of course they put me on the main stage against a good Sagat player and I get creamed in front of everyone. :/

I had an exciting match against Algol on the big screen (which I lost cause I have never played against Algol) but I did get a CF which was exciting. I'll try to get the videos up today sometime.

Yeah - we're pretty much the shit. In any case, here are the Raph vids I got at Evo...didn't tape myself cause I was too busy kicking ass and taking names, but I did tape most of Hudathan's matches:

IvyFanboy v Hudathan
Linkrkc v Hudathan
Hudathan v Revin

You play Raph so much differently than I. Like freekin' worlds apart. Interesting watch! haha

Props to you for reppin' us, Hud!

either ivyfanboy used Ivy's sweep kick at really obvious moments..or you have really good reflexes huda.. but if u watched the finals Malek's Ivy sweep connected like 4 outta 5 attempts

My match and Malek's were under different conditions although I was surviving in losers at that point and had to be on my toes. Malek is a very solid player who gave KDZ lots to think about all the time, including the sweep. Ivy for some reason is one of my weak match ups, I just can't fight her with the style I'm comfortable with.

What is the best that Raph can get off blocking 22K? Even NM who has some awesome WS moves doesn't seem to get much...

I wasn't able to punish with 6B, I guess you have to be bang on with the timing. In theory it's a punishable move.

I don't understand your Raphael in those video's Hudathan. I'm not saying your bad, like Holyforce said, you play him so differently. Few questions

1)Do you pump fake preps out like empty 3B's and 6BB's at all? I didn't see this much, You'd usually follow into 3B prep BB or Prep B something of the like.

2) Are you usually that PURELY defensive/turtle with Raphael? Your whole game from what I saw is pure 8wayrun from a distance, constantly step/evading, with a few pokes thrown in when you're at advantage. You seriously just had a 100% complete turtle approach from what I saw in your video's, is this the only way to play Raphael vs the top tier cast because he's that punishable?

I like playing a constantly aggressive Raphael and I like 3B/6BBing with prep alot too...I haven't heard anything from PenDragonsfall lately, so it seems you're pretty much the #1 Raphael we got now o_o....what's your opinions?

Beloved, my Raph is far from perfect so it's good that I have a few videos I can look back on. As for empty 3B's and 6BB's, those are moves I use only when I believe they will hit since I strongly prefer to use prep with advantage during the transition. I'm much more aggressive against players who doesn't seem to know how to fight Raph, but chances of that happening are slim. I rely on a more defensive style because Raph's ability to control the opponent is much worse in this game. There are plenty of characters who not only out poke him, but holds the advantage in damage opportunities when you go tit for tat. Raph's damage comes from a combination of guessing and reaction/baiting, so that results in my playing style.

raph is better turtling imo

he has the space and semi safe pokes

and the way to play top tier cast as raph is:

character select>pick hilde

also yeah for raph to be aggressive he has to guess alot

all of his stances are pretty much guessing
