Raphael General Discussion

I tried the A+K 4 thing after VE K and couldn't get it to work...ever maybe they were teching, not sure (even changed my game up to set up VE K so I was able to throw it out a bunch of times).

A+B A is nice - I agree

it doesnt work if they tech

because of the TP sucking

most people get up as soon as they see the TP
then it works

i wish raph had algols TP =P

most people roll regardless against raph.. though i hope raph's BT 2K doens't whiff if they roll..

Okay so let's talk about set ups after Raphael's 44K on NH/CH.

44K, 2B is gauranteed...but what about the set up from HERE? If they choose not to roll, I usually get them with 2A+B...but what else can you set up? if they roll what can you really do?

i like 8K better then 44K

44K knocks them down behind you

so u barely get a mix up

and 8K has really good hit frames

44K on NH/CH 2B is guaranteed right after for 33+ damage(34 I believe), if they DO NOT ROLL or low block right after, 2A+B will hit as well. If they react quickly and roll/low block, you're still at a good setup to start an offense or keep the spacing(if it's not Ivy, Astaroth, Kilik, etc)

8K is the same as 7 or 9 K correct? Yes, I use those as well, very good frames.

Hey guys please answer some Raph questions for me, thanks =)

1) What's the best combo after SEB B?

2) 3K vs 6K ... which one has better tracking ?

3) Against characters with excellent anti-Prep tool ... is it still a good idea to punish a -17 move with 3~prep B? (I know ideally you want to punish with 33K:B, but that's hard) ... or do most people stop at 3~Prep BB?

4) what do you think of ws K ?

Step as soon as you block 3. You can even hold the direction. Watch out for 44A as it will force crouch and SEA as the Prep transition is fast enough for Prep A to score a side dash counter if SEA is blocked.

Ducking is an alternative, maybe preferable if your character's step sucks (Algol)? When you crouch, you'll be able to avoid Prep BB (two highs), take only 8-10 damage from Prep A and have the advantage while in FC, block Prep K, block Prep A+B by standing up in time (heavy SG damage though), and be able to FC 2A any VE or SEA transitions on reaction.

why are we helping?

Also, any move that has stepping / backdash properties will likely beat all Prep options (Cervy 1B, for example)

Raphael's Prep VE transition will beat Cervy's 1B on reaction, you have to wait for their 1B however, so it becomes a guessing game.

generally characters like Cervy, Amy, Kilik, or characters that have strict "kill all" answers to prep you just don't want to prep much anyway versus.

Why are we helping? I can answer that.

We are helping because you WANT others to know about it, just like you'd want to know about their character's weaknesses. You are helping them beat Raphael so you can't rely on gimmicky bullshit like Prep abuse and VE A. You are helping so when you ARE CONFRONTED with Someone who knows how to shut all your gimmicks down, you're not completely helpless and confused about what to do.

It's all part of making not only your opponents, but you yourself, better. I tell any of my friends I play how to beat Raphael's shit, it makes me a better Raphael for it.
