Raphael Video Discussion

So what would you guys prefer? A video where I walk all over my opponent, or a closer match? I have a fair few of both recorded in sweet 1080p now.

I'd like none vs any sort of AI or scrubby opponent. Doesn't even have to be of you winning

Hey gang! I just realized I can record matches and get them online using a video camera and a ghetto ass fire wire or USB or something. THEN YOU TOO can insult my shit play. Order now supplies limited!

I wasn't planning on posting me beating on the CPU, that's just dumb, dude.

Either way, what do you count as scrubby in terms of my opponent? I just save wins vs 70%+ non-rage-quitters and then rift through them later.

Incidentally, my opponent's "scrubbines" has little to do with how good I am. How they handle my Prep etc can be good or bad based on luck.

Well thats good. Was worried that you would post videos in arcade mode or w/e. Online is totally fine.

Here's some online test-matches, that I recorded last night for your guys, till I can get some sweet offline goodness with my Soulcalin' buddies... \,,/

The first is fine, but was harder due to having to adjust to fluctuating JG timing online. I'm slowly getting better at it, but I am not there yet. FYI - The vid might not be in 1080P for a few more hours.

The second is that closer match I promised. Bad read, after bad read, from both of us; created a pretty sweet video!

Incidentally, count the amount of times iPrep "Got me killed." People can try and poke their way out of heavy stuff as much as they want - It does more when it lands, it's worth it!

It's fun, great, giving me something to think about.
Good video, dude, good video.

I can, but my Elysium is arguably better than my Raphael, whatever that means to ya ^_^

You near the UK?

I'll blow your mind like a psychic prostitute.

All these Florida players popping up all over the place!!! Where are you in Florida? Our tournaments are dead because nobody ever shows, but if I can get support I can try to bring everyone together at some point.

You know I live in FL too.

By my count, you used it 5 times over the two matches and it landed once. 20% success rate isn't much to write home about. You DO however get major props for being able to pull it off consistently in battle. I will even give you benefit of the doubt and assume you're not using some kind of programmable controller.

Heh, you sure taught that Yoshi to break B throws when up against the wall eh? You even taught me to 1B w! 6B+K because it looks neat, and that 4A+B activation box extends beyond Raph's hit box. You did well in handling Yoshi and punishing him for dropping the ball so much.

I'll quit being lazy and get some matches of my own up soon.

That wasn't 6B+K, it was 8B+K, it's a situational combo that requires the opponent to be at such an angle that 3A would not wall-splat. It does not work after B+G or 66K to name a couple. I knew that I was long overdue a SE K, so I went for a non-splat 3A after the B+G and then into SE B. 3B should have actually combo'd after 8B+K 3A, but again; online hates me.

I should also have Prep K BE'd more vs the Yoshi, I have gotten the full combo off on the guy a fair few times seeing as he steps Prep a bit predictably.

I'm going to do more than 7 matches to pick from some time soon... The footage from last night was actually weak in my opinion, but I at least wanted a test run. Notice how skillfully I failed every JG attempt! I'm usually pretty shit-hot at it now... offline \,,/(-_-)\,,/

I use a secret technique called a can of Rockstar to help with my inputs. I use the Madcatz TE stick with the SC5 branding. It has auto-fire buttons as an option, but I honestly can't think of a use for it in SC5.

I usually 66A+G till they learn that I do not have a too clear pattern near walls.

Only way out of that setup is to roll left, and your safety is not guaranteed. (I've only done it once before.)
The end of that match has something very interesting. You followed his backroll with 44AB... that's some serious range, range it doesn't seem to have vs. standing (ffs). Does 2B do the same thing, because I don't think so. Could this be insurance versus rollers?

Keep a cool head on, Zanaken. "A match of bad read after bad read" can also be called "players mashing their lame shit against each other."
I know, because when I first heard that statement I was just mashing out lame shit. But he didn't know that.

I tried to JG it. I have spent a LONG time practicing different JG setups like that one. It just wasn't going down though.

44AB is pretty much a wake-up move, I love how well the second, B, hit tracks; and of course its range. On double hit at max range I usually try and 44A+B though, because most players disrespect the range lead Raph has at this point and usually wiff a move. 66B on hit is a safe 44A+B attempt too, if you count cancel as an option making it safe.

Not sure what you mean by this. I didn't think I was mashing lame shit, nor do I think that of my opponent. I knew what I wanted to press, and he seemed to follow a game-plan himself.

The pattern was all there, I was just double-guessing his bluffs - We've played before, but he seems to struggle vs my Raph; due to some past Raph games training him to start mind-game guessing him too much, too late.
