the 2B+G -> step left -> 1A+G_B+G is character dependent
some you need to step right to do 3A+G_B+G
while others both sides work.....
I'll come out with a short list for those characters that have problems with connecting 2B+G -> A+B
to make this even more confusing... sometimes stepping changes the camera angle drastically making it a little hard to react to.
