As a member of 8wayrun and like so many of you, I am a huge fan of Soul Calibur. I loved the series ever since I bought Soul Calibur 2 and from that moment on, I became infatuated with the series and a very unique community and fanbase. But now a days, every time I go to the facebook page for Soul Calibur, I see nothing but a once proud community of fans that would speak highly in regard of the series divided after the release of Soul Calibur 5. It used to be that if you were a fan of Soul Calibur, you had some likability from your peers. Now, if you even mention that you are a fan or still a fan of the series, your peers would just laugh at you, knowing how bad things are for the franchise and for Project Soul. What I am saying is that we need to come together and save the game we love and enjoy to play. I have been discussing ideas with Crazy Yoshimitsu about a campaign/petition to save the series. We've all seen petitions about adding characters like Talim, Zasalamel, Hwang and Yun-Seong but what about the series itself? Which is why once EVO passes, I hope to start this campaign as a call of urgency for Soul Calibur fans to come together and help save the series. Namco really is putting SC on the back burner but we need to tell them that we still love Soul Calibur. If you want to join our cause, I would appreciate it. Let's save Soul Calibur. Leave any questions, thoughts, and ideas.
 
Just petition for Vita and 3DS versions with full story mode included to placate the people that don't actually like playing SC.

Toss in a BS and pointless 1 player mode where they earn collectable raccoon tails for fighting guys with 10000% health who also poison you or something too.
 
A petition is about moving somebody to do something, isn´t it? Who do you want to adress the petition to? Namco? The fans? And to do what? "Saving SC" seems to be a little bit unspecified. What do you exactly mean by "save SC"? An updated SC5 version? The increased possibility of SC6? Survival of the community?

This one is for the fans to just come together and support Soul Calibur as a unit. Because right now the community is divided up and we need to come to an agreement or consensus on a lot of issues. An updated SC5 would also be nice as well as the survival of the community. We'll get to Namco later.

Would you explain slowly thinking Katsuyori what kind of division within community do you see? About what things do you want to come us to a agreement?
 
From what I see, there are a lot of fans and pro players that are expressing their views on the current state of the series as well as the current release. Some love it, some hate it. Then there are some that are saying that some previous installments of Soul Calibur were bad, for example, Crazy Yoshimitsu had told me that a fan had said that SC2 was a bad game. What's going on right now is that because of the early word of mouth and displeasure of fans, the SC community is divided and may soon dwindle into various crowd like "I love Soul Calibur 2 but I hate Soul Calibur 5" or "I main Siegfried but I hate Kilik." Eventually, with the SC community losing fans, the series could possibly be abandoned not just by us but by Namco if they continue to catch wind of our actions and continued disregard for how bad SC5 and the current state of the series is now. We just need to put that all aside and help save this series from being an afterthought.

Bad according to who? The online scrubs that tell you that? Ridiculous.

Welcome to the real world my friend. Where everything is always cool for the first few months till the next best thing comes out. Its the circle of life and nothing more.

I dont know what sources you have to support all this "bad" publicity, but Id love to see where you get your information from.

EDIT: CrazyYoshimitsu is NOT by ANY means a reliable or accurate source. On ANYTHING! The very mention of his name made me laugh so hard I pee'd a little.
 
Game doesn't need saving. It needs better backing from Namco, it needs better marketing, it needs a bigger audience. The most you can do is support them by buying the DLC.

The only reason why anyone will still play this game is because of the competition, if someone has no interest in competition then they will not play this game. (sure a minority will play casually with the customization). Therefore you will feel there need to be online modes that aren't centered on competitive play.
 
I've been a huge fan for years, and the only thing about SC is that it's unique. It's so unique, it moves outside of the (lolhipster moment) mainstream. At least in America, I'm not sure about europe or Asia.
It's not the norm for us here. It's not an extremely fast paced, comic book based 2d fighting with boobs EVERYWHERE, there's not blood everywhere, and it's not modern/future themed.
That's just my speculation, anyways. I rarely meet anybody outside of 8WR and Soul Calibur who's an actual fan of SC. I think that's the only thing about the series that would kill it, though. I love it though, and just think about how lucky we SC fans are that they keep coming, no mater how far away they go from the older SC's. It's been great every time.

Okay, I go to the facebook page and I see disagreements about the game's earnings as well as other gaming sites like IGN and others. Some say the game is good and some say the game is bad, it's opinions. This is all opinions. So, I guess you don't want nothing to do with this petition, is what you're saying then.

Its not real common amungst the common folk to express a "like" for something.

FACTS:
  • IGN is a bunch of biased retards that hate games that involve thinking, unless the producers pay them for a good review. Also, they suck at writing, journalism and fighting games.
  • People's opinions vary. Otherwise it would be a fact, not an opinion.
  • The sites that claim to know SCV's sales are mostly fake, there is no way to know it if Namco themselves don't make the information public.
  • Facebook is NOT a reliable source of information.
  • Your grammar needs to improve :P
Now, a petition to save SC? From what? I don't understand what you want to do.
 
This petition is solely to unite fans because basically they're arguing over what the franchise needs and what it doesn't need. Basically that's what this petition is all about and I know my facts aren't all there either. i just want to get my point across about this petition and I see it's only getting bad reviews.

You should just go buy a set of bongo drums. go to the beach and start a bon fire. Gather the rest of your hippy friends to sing "Coombyya save soul calibur" and you will prolly get the same results.

In the meantime I will throw things at you and your friends telling you to get a job and a haircut!

LOL...well I think there are problems with the community. I don't think there is something to save in soul Calibur, but I'm worried about a few things for it. Besides you guys think I'm dumb and retarded, while you're super smart people and shit. ST86 brought me up because we talked about on DA. But let me get to the important part about SC that I'm worried about.

-The turnouts at majors

Can I ask where is everyone in the American SC community?

I thought we like this game. What happened? Is MLG hurting us? Are we bored? I would like to know what's going on.

Malice told me that MLG and online have been hurting the grass root majors. Is that true?

But yeah that's my only problem I see with the game.

BTw, Im' not trying to be an expert of anything...I just like showing the flaws of things I enjoyed .So yeah HRD....I respect you and everyone else...But is it really cool to make fun of me any chance you get? I mean...it's getting to a point people attack me just to attack me. What? Am I the SC version of Tom Brady? Am I the goat that you throw all your shit at when shit isn't right?

Look, a petition is a collective request for a major figure or group to do something, e.g. "Capcom please release Birdie as a DLC character in SFxT". What you're suggesting is not a petition, but rather a hippie movement asking people to stop being themselves and like something because you do. What do you hope to accomplish?
 
With respect, how, pray tell, are you planning on 'saving' it. And what are you 'saving' it from?

It's good and well lobbying for a petition to save something, but you haven't told us what you mean by save it.

Here's what I can see:

This game was released at all.
It's currently too early to call the question of a next instalment into question.
It's still getting continuous support, and still providing content. Dead games don't get regular DLC, regardless of that DLC content.
It's kept it's fans talking using cliffhangers and withholding information about some of the characters.
It's under new management.
It's considered the most balanced in the series by many.

The fact is there's no reason to suspect SC is in need of a saviour. Now don't get me wrong, I know Namco are very... Hesitant, about the series. But frankly, this one is still garnering so much feedback, that we can't begin to know it's effects on the stockholder's opinions.



And HRD, your signature misses the 'h' from Shaolin's name.
