SC2 GI-to-Throw Glitch

Ceron

[09] Warrior
I remember this coming up back at the end of the SC2 era. It was discovered by kilikabeast.

Basically, when Player A GI's Player B, Player B could input a throw + direction at a certain point of the GI animation and completely cancel out the GI'ed recovery and go directly into a throw.

Does anybody remember how to do this or old vids of such? A vid would be greatly appreciated.

Naw, it doesn't have anything to do w/ 2G after impact. It goes fluidly into the throw animation with no chance to escape (if I remember correctly).

I don't have a video, but that was my favorite glitch to play with in SC2.

Player A has to buffer a move perfectly in the recovery of a previous move. Player B GIs the second move. Player A does 3A+G_B+G on the GI impact frame and gets an immediate throw (instead of being vulnerable). Player B can still break the throw.

Ah that's it! 3A+G_B+G! I remember Talim had so many setups for it.

Thanks guys!

Yeah, I still play SC2 from time to time. -_-

It was discovered by kilikabeast.

hmm...that is debatable.

IMO Justkill discovered EXACTLY how to execute this glitch/technique and made several videos showing its usefulness. prior to Justkills findings i think people had seen it but not been able to fully explain it.

btw its called a JustFrameChicken aka JFC. Aris is credited with naming it lol.

Talim was GREAT at JFC... Eternal Fighter decided to ban them at the Break weeklies after I knocked him out of a tournament by JFCing into a ring out throw. But that was fine, because no one in NJ even bothered to use them since most characters didn't have good setups.

JFC being banned is highly arguable (not that it matters now). You can escape the throw and you could succeed in SC at a high-level without a single GI (unless you were GC'ed). Hell, you pretty much had to w/ 2G in the picture.

Yeah, Talim's original B+K was godlike when JFC is in the picture. Even without JFC... :)

Damn, just noticed all this, aside from the other glitches such as 2g, air repel/parry etc...there was another glitch that was similar to the JFC because of it working through a some sort of throw....this is ONE of the glitches that players MAY have stumbled across but did not know what it was...and how it was done, which was like this:

*Explanation for "NON-JFC" throw glitch: initiate with any attack,(now from here all that needs to happen is your opponent has to 1: block the 1st attack, than 2: "weapon clash" with your follow up attack) then the clash will happen simultaneously, and from here your next move is to MASH throw without any directional input(remember this is NOT the JFC)... its a weapon clash that if mashed correctly at the given a few frames(yes this could be mashed), you'd get a throw from the given clash. So imagine doing a FC 2k with Sophie(on hit for frame adv purpose), than follow up with a sophie wsB with your opponents attack that(if they did at the same time as you and both attacks clashed) lets just say its a wsA or B from another sophie, the 2 weapons clash and then mash A+G/B+G directly afterward...basically ou take 2 attacks that could equaly clash with each other, only after the 1st hit/blocked attack can this be done, cant just start off with 2 attacks in total and have it happen.

Now, the OTHER glitch that i'm sure(to this very day); ok... now, i dont want to sound cocky that way, so i want to respect the fact that someone could have figured it out by now for themselves, so i will leave this spot open for the 1st fastest response from whomever, and say WHAT it is and HOW its done!!...a bit of SC2 trivia for y'all!!!!

Now finally, the "TRUE JFC"... easiest way to explain is to follow the above explanation to the T, except for 2 differences which are:

1:done on 1 frame(JF) repel/exchange input when your opponent(s) repel(not weapon clash) is activated...
2:instead of mashing out throw to get it(since this is a true JF) you just add in any direction(s) except for directions 4 and 6, so it could be done like: 3A+G/9A+G/2A+G/7+B+G, etc, and voila!!! there is the JFC explanation on how its done in a nut shell.

I have on my desk top, the originals that i did on VHS recording the DAY after i discovered the glitch, and never got to place them up on teh web...(well, i did have them up for a short period of time, then i forgot my password for the tempory link i had available, so it was only available for about a week, LOL) 1st vid was of me applying it with Mitsu(my main in SC2 along with my 2nd, NM)...the 2nd vid was of Maxi showing it from his loops variants....and the 3rd was a compilation of at least 4-5 other characters....and i will be linking them here very soon once i can get new BGM coz YT sucks balls when it comes to BGM in vids, otherwise there will be no BGM or sound. Now if you all like and have interest, i can just throw them up and not have BGM...which i will kindly leave up to fellow 8wayrunner's if the BGM doesnt suit/matter to most....all i ask is that you kindly respond to this post here, majority vote will prevail!!!

Mitsu was the best at this... b6~2, bA, 22_88A... and nobody realized it back then.. pathetic. He easily was the best character in the game, leagues above everybody else, including Xianghua, but never won a tournament. The best he got, I think, was top 8 at EVO by B:L.

Yea, he def was great at it no doubt!...well, his normal version(s) as you mentioned with honorable mention for ba~throw/b6~2 were built-in, so he didnt need an actual repel/GI to occur in order to initiate his pseudo versions.

Got any good idea's for BGM music?...all the songs i chose for the 3 vids are labeled still, so they got taken away :(

...unless there is a way around it and still use the same songs?... i am open to suggestions if any.

i don't remember exactly how it's done, but he does it a lot of times here.

Why did people always use matrix background music for JFC videos lol? Anyway the JFC vid I used to always watch was this one done by Spyder because he used music from the Matrix reloaded that I loved.

LOL, yea... apparently it was the fad at the time for a lot of game videos since the Matrix and the sequel was released right around that time...they also used it for an UMK video... i believe the name of that was called "UMK BROKEN"... or something like that, also a great vid btw.

EDIT: actually Krayzie, just at 2:31 of the Yun vid, he did the other version of the throw glitch that was avalable in SC2, you'll see the weapons clash, and yun still gets the throw, which that version is mash-able and no directional inputs needed for that version...i wish i would have kept my mouth shut about the JFC now, lol...only coz later finding out it got banned for some unholy reason...i just couldn't contain myself for its excellent value in the game and it was a hell of a gem not to mention a great shocker for all to witness even after 2g/electric stepping and air GI's/repels were discovered.

Ok, so i basically just finished getting BGM to go with the vid, and for the vid itself, i went directly for the guts of the project...showing basic fundimentals of the glitch and how it can be applied in okizeme and forced GI'd techs...yes SC2 had these, i think(IIRC) a few of the clips showing the Mitsu 3B, 6B~3(just input from the 6~3, other wise you got different oki results) into 66A+B forced GI attack....

these were attacks that if tried to retaliate with stand, block or techroll, were in fact garaunteed attacks when the opponent(s) tried to techroll or stand block the attack; basically it was a tech trap...but the only way to get out of the tech trap was to GI(with perfect timing) that last attack that hits you while trying to get out of it... so here i used the JFC into an actual tech trap finisher so it was a forced block move/techtrap/forced GI(which GI'ing was the only way to get out of it safely) to escape...remember this was done over 6 years ago, and at the time i was( and still am since i dont fiddle around with vid making and such) very new to that type of thing, so my editing wasn't the greatest and i didint make it all fancy though, i put a title(yes this was the title of the vid and glitch before Aris came up with the name "JFC") just wanted to get that cleared, so here is the 1st vid i did with Mitsu...

please comment and enjoy!... i have 2 more JFC vids i'll be uploading and if you like, also subscribe to my channel!!, i just started getting it going so, its still pretty fresh.

EDIT: *warning* vid uploading noob question... could one of the mods kindly place this in the media section for me? or does it happen automatic once i embed it in a post?...just to save some hassle on my part lol, yea im a noob with all this so it would be a great help!!, i was gonna try to place this in the game video distribution thread, but i figured it was fine to place here for starters.

EDIT2: ok, uploaded into media section!

Another thing i wanted to mention was that, once the glitch is activated/happens...its built in to the next attack, so it will work move after move from this point until the end of the round, no need to put in the "initiate" attack...you could for a lil' mind games, but not necessary....uploading my other 2 vids now...

Anyone figure out the 3rd mystery glitch i mentioned about?
