Since no one else did it I decided on doing so just to try and get things underway.

I would say it needs to be players who travel and leave the house. I would prefer no bias but at this point I would take what I could get lol.

Not necessarily top players but at least a good amount of players/tourney runners/knowledgeable of the game. Discuss and come to a choice please so we can move on.

Let's not even bring up the PsP game because we know for 100% it won't be played on that PsP at least in tournaments, so until we know the down low for if it's coming to console via disk or downloadable, let's go on the basis we'll be using what we have now.

Community please step up and make some choices or at least the big names. . .and not for regions but for SC4 as a community. The community needs to come together for once and make a choice whether it's hard or not.

I know I'm not a 'big name' and NC is a very bare state when it comes to SC attendance, but I believe my experience in setting up college tournaments for a largely casual audience could contribute in some way. If not, that's cool too, I've already posted alot of points in the "Future of..." topic.

Good job/thanks for starting this, by the way. Hopefully it'll get people on the same page.

Well let me first declare it would be best if it was public.

@Noface - Bans mostly, unless they should be for something else.

To be honest I would nominate myself, but since I don't think it would be in good taste to do that I would have to say either Nori or Something-Unique. Both know a decent amout the game and the community.

Well: people with natural negative attitudes shouldn't be nominated espically if they tend to start flame wars (even if they don't directly start it.)

Also, very active members of the forums would help too. We don't need a congress that meets like 2x/year to debate anything. Any members should have mod access as well

*will continue once i get home from work*

If this happens I got some nominations Cha Cha, Something-Unique, Oof, and Malice. I skimmed through the ban thread, and these four seemed to be the most logical in my opinion. They also seemed to have been around for a while although I'm new so I don't know how long all of them been around.

I have one more Nomination though KrayzieCD he too has been around for a while. In my opinion I believe online is vital to community growth. Which the little I talked to him he seemed to play online despite doing gatherings and going to tourneys. There are so many "high level" players that neglect online and bash it because of lag blah blah. Yes I understand lag tactics and crap but for the few that wanna learn the game. Don't because they have no one to point them in the right direction.

So no matter how good I get (which I doubt I will get much better). I'll never stop playing online because online is how I got good hell I would of never known this site existed if wasn't for online. Thanks to online I know about frames and what a tech crouch is and been to a couple tourneys. I'm not saying for people to spend your every waking moment online. But when you got free time and are thinking about about what to do. Don't think to yourself "online pfft lag Ha! Like I'll play that". Be like "oh online I'll play some matches".

I think you guys should wait after Tekken comes out before trying to start a committee. Plus there is no need to. It's not me being negative, but besides bans, what else is there that requires a committee? Nothing. Plus no one else is being asked to implement a ban, so there is no point in forming one.

People are going to bitch and complain no matter what is decided no matter how the decision is obtained, so my suggestion would be to do what you need to do to keep the people in your area playing because that's the desired goal in the end. But all these threads are for the same shit and won't go anywhere, especially when you can't force anyone to follow what's decided.

You don't have to force people but you CAN have a standard at the least. This isn't being done so people can be "happy" it's being done so the SC community can be STABLE. This should have been decided a LONG time ago IMO but we should still do this now regardless of if people will be happy or not.

QFT.

I mean, if it helps the community, it just means that we have a STABLE ruleset (which is more then what the smash community can ever do). That in itself should have a positive enough impact on the community. From there, more ideal things would come into play, in which the community can work together and make this a better game. Showing some type of organization is better that not having any at all IMO

Exactly sir.

Now if someone could direct those members that people would want in on this (i.e., Cha Cha, Jaxel, KDZ, SU, etc.) and we could do this. I would like to hear from those members to know if this is even possible because a standard is needed for this community to live.

I nominate Idlemind since he seems to care about the actual well being of the community more than anyone I have seen.

ditto. he is after all, the newly elected President of Banning.

a committee sounds cool but is it necessary? when the next soul calibur comes out for the ps3 will the committee of elders vote on whats banned? will they be forced to sit around round tables and grow long white beards? huh, huh?

Let's not even bring up the PsP game because we know for 100% it won't be played on that PsP at least in tournaments,

Wow. On this, you fail. You fail hard.

Also, I know I've been not un-positive about this whole committee idea, but facing the reality of it is upsetting. In a couple months, I'm going to be the main organizer in my area, and I don't care what any committee says. I'm not banning anything at our tournaments. The only thing I've ever wanted to ban from a Soul Calibur game were VC and Abyss, and even that I'm not too sure about in hindsight.

I think he just means there won't be any real tournaments for SCBD. I mean seriously, who would actually play a fighting game "competitively" on a hand-held game system? Does anyone here even have a PSP still? We really need BD to come out on PS3 and 360 and I'm sure it will eventually. It doesn't make sense to keep it just on PSP, but back to the topic at hand.

I think the committee should be either 5 or 7 people so there are no ties in voting. I think they should be by region/community and not necessarily by rank or skill. That sounds the most fair imo. And as I said previously, I would put in for Nori for the Texas community.

@Malice: Why wait until Tekken comes out to start a committee?

The psp version will be a hassle to run tournaments for. And from what you're telling not only do we need to have a psp but we also need to bring our PC's to tournaments which will be a HUGE hassle.

If the psp version worked out and tourneys work for it though then I'm 100% supporting it but as of now it looks to be a huge hassle. I guess with time we'll see.

All this committee is going to do is add more drama. No one in this community is really willing to do what needs to be done for the best of the community. What would be best for the community would be to ban nothing. The real goal should be to cut out the complaining, whining, and the victim attitude everyone has in this game. If you let people think they are getting wronged when they play this game they are obviously not going to like it as much. We have created a negative stigma of broken and cheapness around this game. Although in reality there is nothing cheap about it. Everyone can choose who they want and if someone wants to choose a weaker character it isn't the games fault. If we ban anything at all it sends a clear message to people they are getting wronged and it's the games fault and not theirs. Which is completely BS, in what tournament should we cater to the weakest players? We should cater to people like RTD who does play to win. There is a reason the SF community works this way because banning is a dangerous thing. The attitude of being a victim is far more dangerous than anything banning will solve. But of course no one will agree with me and we will continue to argue because this is the SC community.
