SCV Character Creation Discussion

No it isn't, watch the video again, there are new styles.
On a side note, to anyone who wants anime hair, this is soul calibur, the series you are looking for is blazblue. Keep the anime stuff there thankyou. =P
Let the uncreative people delude themselves further. Personally I never seen the mode for that purpose, it isnt. It's ideally for originals to be among the universe with creativity in mind. Yet, All CAC games will have some noob/fanboy making cloud or naruto at some point.... -_-II. Its annoying but its bound to happen. The most Namco can and should do is give the players more options so at least others like myself can be creative and maybe encourage such.

I know, you're right, I garuntee if they included a master chief helmet 90% of online players would have their character wearing it ~_~.
It justs annoys me that even the most stupid idea in the world can be thrown together and be defended when its called out with the word 'creativity'. I mean, do you throw shit on a wall and call the resulting mess art? No, you get institutionalised, lol.
Sophiemare was a good example of this and more recently, some fool (I can't remember who) suggested Maxi and Mitsurugi being brothers, I mean COME ON!
Ok, rant over, lol.
I dunno, I mean, the concept of a good discussion about CAC excites me, because its a great way to hopefully get some awesome ideas, but the lack of quality control worries me (on the internet) XD.
Case in point here (Post 3465)

I'm personally curious whether they will bring back the business suit and/or other modern clothing. Based on the trailer it seems likely we get jeans and a t-shirt. What are other people's opinions about having modern day clothing in the game. I for one am on the fence...it really shouldn't be there but I don't mind it I guess.

They shouldn't add suits and etc, they're just encouraging people to see this most as a joke, most casuals dont take it serious personally and its shown through the stupidest combinations possible. I dont care but it would do so much more if they added more historical clothing. SC is historical fantasy, not Tekken.

Also how do you guys here feel about trench coats in SCV? for some reason everyone in the gamespot forums have a trench coat fetish there. :/

I hope that the CaS are of the same quality as the main characters. Its annoying that the clothing loses detail and doesn't flow the same way, even when placed on an edited pyrrha.

Since I have no sense of humor, I couldn't accept it if the developers were allowed to express their own sense of humor by adding fun things into the game. I say leave it out. I won't be able to sleep at night unless dress up reflects my own personal vision.

I understand that playing against out of place custom characters is annoying in online games, but there's nothing "uncreative" about attempting to make characters based on pre-existing designs. After all, that pre-existing design, from anime, a previous Soulcalibur game, movies or even your own pre-existing personal creations, wasn't created specifically for the Create a character feature, so you'll often need creativity in using the available pieces to make that design work there.

In addition...

Personally I never seen the mode for that purpose, it isnt.

Namco itself has used the create a character pieces to recreate older characters, see Hwang in Broken Destiny. Namco itself has also featured guests from other franchises in Soulcalibur ever since Soulcalibur 1, with Yoshimitsu's inclusion - he became part of Soulcalibur itself, unlike later guests, but he was clearly only added to Soulcalibur due to the Tekken character. Soulcalibur III even had the futuristic Kosmos pieces in the character creator.

Now, if that's what you want to do, creating new characters that could fit in Soulcalibur's setting, I'm not saying you're wrong. However, the mode clearly wasn't made just for that.

The ideology of character creation though is to make originals, if people are that obessed with a character or series then I supposed they'd want to imulate them. Trying to do so with the materials given is arguably creative but not original. People are praised more and intreged by originally though and online is like a showcase of that. Some people may make freaks for lols or whatever but even that shouldnt make modern clothing a necessity. I want more armor.

I guess if idk make Sakura from Naruto and want to edit her colors or create another outfit for her. I guess I'm not ORGINIAL enough for you guys :(

Not even the Saint's Row series can avoid it...

I don't care. I just dont want urban clothing.
i don't want obviously urban clothing. give me stuff like a cloth shirt or a tank top or something that could be worn throughout the ages. not something like a business suit or something of that like. but I don't want all armor either. i like me characters to look and feel comfortable while they're handing people their butts.

I want to create mute and/or silent characters. SC3 amy was interesting, she berely talked. Sometimes I need to create characters who can't talk or who doesn't like talking too much. This is not a hard thing to make, just give us the option for adjusting the density of talkings in-game.

Well that's the thing; you can CHOOSE whether or not you want urban clothing or not. I hate the re-created originals as much as everyone else, but why shouldn't they exercise as much creative freedom as possible? That's the whole point of Character Creation (no I'm not calling it CaS from SCIII). The game may be historical fantasy, but it's just that: a FANTASY. I actually like urban/modern clothing and it's cool to see how modern a character can get. Sometimes I can end up with a style similar to Victorian, Renaissance, Aristocratic or something totally original. Not everyone wants to make an armor clad warrior (the majority of the characters in the series aren't even like that anyway)
