SCV Character Creation Discussion

Let's keep in mind that "130% more content" does not mean "130% more items".

I suppose the adjustable physics, the malfestation level of the voice, textures for clothing and weapons as well as weapon effects etc. (perhaps even the new weapons and the DJ CAS style) are also counted in there...we might end up with about 50% new CAS items (or hopefully more).

yeah, thats something i thought of right as soon as i posted that.... Even if they do end up giving just 20% more items, i'd still be happy. As for DLC, hmmm... what can i say without sounding too insane.. I WILL SACRIFICE A SMALL AFRICAN CHILD STARVING IN ETHIOPIA FOR 10x THE AMOUNT OF DLC THEY GAVE in 4.

It's been said a billion times, but yes, releasing CaS parts as DLC will be a super smart idea. I'll just throw my money at them for whatever parts they make available. I even bought those crap Halloween/Christmas parts in IV. What they should do is make some fan favorite 2P pieces from past games available, or let us vote somewhere (Setsuka's SC3 1P, Nighty's SC2 1P/at least the helm and arm again, etc.)

Also, I'm sure it's been discussed considering the 30+ pages in this thread, but since I cba... Do we know what the smallest height for a CaS looks like? Calling them 1-5, with 1 being the smallest, 5 being the tallest, I've seen that 3 = Pat and 4 = Raph(and presumably Ivy/Zwei.) 5 is probably Astaroth. I hope 1 isn't Yoda height or anything >_>

Nah I don't think 1 will be Yoda's height. I'm thinking that 1 might be the size of Talim/Amy (I'm sure Amy is much shorter then it appears because she was wearing heels in SCIV so if anything for the girls, 1 might be Amy's height).

pretty sure the dtiod stream shows viola as 1 for female height.

Rambling....

Actually, 50 is not a bad number. I can understand 16 like in SCBD, but 50 is a fair amount. I mean, I don't go out and make 1000 ninjas, vikings, knights, and all lol. I like a few handful so my mind won't lose focus. I mean, I always get the feeling that sometimes less is more as to quality is better than quantity imho. In this case I like sticking to 10 CAS of mine that will some story and their stereotypical roles.....of course I give them multiple outfits to get into the character design and all. Example, tomboyish ninja chick gets a lot of customizing from japanese stuff lol. If I made thousand female ninjas, I would lose focus due to the fact there's too many. With just one female ninja, I could pretend I'm the character and figure out what outfits should suit her best and which should be kicked to the curb.....if whatever logic I'm going by makes sense.

Agree with this

50 for originals is not more than enough,is maybe even too much
If people start try to do some real chara design instead endless random meh pretty anime girrrl and faggy face 1 anime knights, yeat made 10(all well made and with some concept/solid base/idea) of them is a good result

As originals as now the only "must do" are the ones in my sign (wich are 7, that become 6 since i'm not going to make Zenon) + some more sketches/concepts that i've never scanned... we go around 15,and is yet a huge number for "additions".
And if i was'nt sure about the quality of these i will have made even less, because with meh factor in the more number increase the more as single concept become less charismatic

Imho the ideal is to recreate a small side-cast of additions(everyone good enough to stand next originals without shame) like was for bonus in SC3

My only problem is have it in common with standards, then 50 become a way smaller number

Imagine i want do a 3p for everybody,it will be yet around 30 used, more than the total half
Then obviously for some of my most used i may want even a 4p,but ok,i can not give a 3p at somebody i don't give a flying fuck. Let's say a give a 3p only to 10-15 chars, and that some fav get a 4p

Then i'm going to remake Hwang and Rock, both with 1p and 2p :D

Then there are re-colors,example there are some costume that i like but imho are totally ruined by colours
Example,i'm surely going to do one of these Raph, this Asta and this Xiba
raphedits.jpg

sc5s652.jpg

xiba2122.jpg

and yet surely i'm going to drop a lot of good re-colors ideas because overall i prefer use a slot for a total edited costume instead just a recolored one

If i was the one that chose i will have made something like

50 slots- Edit standard cast (edit and re-colors)
25/30 slots- free character creation

This will be awesome for my tastes :D

Just to add i feel that they have been even too modest
With all new stuff (over all: truly editable proportions, texture patterns, 3d objects-this is fucking epic-,and stickers) imho for somebody that know his shit the new editor is going to be fucking immense as potential

I feel the limit got pushed waaay higher than "130% more"
As now i'm confidend to be able to create things on the same level of originals, a thing that i will never say about mine of SC4

I am definitely faithful in the new CaS. With the amount of ridiculous looking things they've been making on the streams, it only teases us that we could do so much better. And they know we can, which is why they're teasing us with the ridiculous looking things they've made in CaS.

Also, on the topic of CaS, 50 is a really big number. You're absolutely pushing it when you say you want 100+ slots. It all depends on how you use it, I believe though. If you're the type of guy who loves to create 3P's and color edits for everyone, then of course 50 is a small number. But if you're the type of guy who makes color edits for your mains, maybe a few CaS, then of course 50 is more than enough.

Me, I'm creating my own alternate roster filled with about 20-22 characters (plus their own 2P outfits), so that easily takes around 40-44 slots, but I can definitely manage.

If you're still bothered about 50 slots, try to petition for a "+5/+10/+20 CaS Slot Increase" DLC for PSN and Marketplace. :P

50 slots in definitely enough for me. I only had about 10 CaS characters and about 4-5 edits for some of the standard characters, and I still managed to have at least 20+ spaces left in SCIV. XD

Although, yes, I can imagine it not being enough for people who who it a lot.

You know if they added additional character slots as DLC Namco could probably make quite a bit of money selling to the casual market and anyone who wishes to create more characters.

I'd certainly like more than 50 slots. Since I'm sharing the slots with another person, that leaves 25, if I then want to make 2P for all that means 12 characters, which especially with all the new options won't be hard to fill. Even then, I won't have any slots to store ideas and WIP:s or any recreations of comic book/game/book characters I'd like to do for fun.

Im all for supporting Namco but more CaS slots is a no go for me. More CaS pieces sure. More characters either CaS only styles or actual editions to the roster sure. The only way i'll jump on that train is if they are like 50 for 160 ms points a pop. Even then im only buying one.

A CaS Slot Expansion DLC shouldn't really cost that much. It's just a matter of adding a few more bytes into your save file so that you have more tangible CaS slots to use. I imagine it'd sell for around "+5" at .99, "+10" at 1.99, and "+20" at 2.99 on PSN.

Now CaS Packs themselves should cost around the same amount as they did in SCIV. Around 4.99 for that super mega-pack they released with the old armor pieces, then a significantly lower price for those two-three item packs like the Halloween and Christmas DLC.

Releasing what is essentially a key to allow you to use more data on your own hard drive would be a complete jip and exploit of the fans, but I can't say that I wouldn't get it...

Of course, that's all just silly speculation with a bunch of "what if"s

Personally I think 50 slots is way more than enough when I mainly main 2 characters and use 2 casuals. If someone is really going to have more than 50 characters created then it will be time to write the formula down somewhere and delete a character whenever you wish to make a new one. You would still have the formula so could remake them at any time.

I would not buy additional DLC slots for character creation and I highly doubt that they would release something like that but in the off chance that they did it probably would be profitable for Namco considering how many characters some people like to create.

I'd buy the additional slots, but mainly because I just like to throw my money at worthless crap. In SCIV my slot usage peaked at around 35ish, with customs and their 2Ps, 3Ps and recolors for standard characters, etc. Personally, I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so if a CaS I'm working on doesn't look legit or has too many parts in common with a standard character/already existing custom, I won't save it. A lot of the people who are crying for 50+ slots are probably the type who seem to put random pieces together, color all the parts black(or *GASP* black and red, screw originality!) and call it a day.

People need to quit trying to put limits on what people can or can't do with the creative tool given to everyone for creating stuff. Will I make Brad Wong again from DOA. Probably not since I'm dropping Voldo but I will make Sakura(Naruto) again with Maxi's style.

Edit: I forgot to add BOOYAH IN YALL FACE.
