SCV Ivy FAQ & General Discussion

Something I found out... If you do a quick SSL and interrupt it with 3B at closest range, 6B8 will sometimes connect without counter hit. So far, it works against Aeon (no other angles launch high enough) and Xiba (only other angle launched high enough is somewhere on back). I haven't tested anyone else.

Algol too, and I think Astaroth...

It works on most characters. When you step left and then 3B your opponent he will be launched at an angle where 6B8 mostly connects.

I figured something out today - when Voldo is in his BT stance, everytime you hit him with 44[A] it gives you the 100 dmg combo! So both 6B+K and 44[A] are deadly against him when he's back turned.

Oh yeah, I mentioned that somewhere. 44[A]6 100 damage combo works surprisingly often on Nightmare too since a lot of his attacks involve a "spin" animation that momentarily leaves his back open. e.g. GS A.

Another funny against Astaroth that I've noticed... 44BB 6B8 will hit him and wind up being slightly more damaging than 44BBB 6B8.

I think in my opinion; they rushed the release of SOULCAlIBURV. I feel something off with the characters, especially with Ivy. I feel when they said they made "Ivy is more easier to play with"; I think they meant all characters are basic. I was looking more for a challenge with Ivy, but basically the only thing in my agenda to do is to master iCS.

Until people start learning jG, I say that SC5 is not simple at all.

Even some top players consider the risk-reward of jG as something 'not worth it'. I don't know if this is because of legacy or whatnot, but consistently jG-ing shuts down offense.

But, that's another story for another day.

I have yet to figure out the jG... probably only did it like once or twice, and only by accident... I almost miss GI, I'm still kinda torn by the fact that it takes meter to do it, but then again, it eliminates the silly back and forth GI matches of the old days...

Is that going to be it? JG and iCS? The game hasn't even been for half a year, and yet we still managed to figure out combos and CS? I'm sorry, but in a year or two, this game is going to get really boring.

You think we've been loving SCIV for the past two years before now, huh? :P
With it's retarded net code? lol, no.

Besides that I mean. She was top tier in SCIV. She had options to every move, and she more, "get to the point". Plus I see no difference in net codes between SCIV n SCV. In SCIV it was laggy and in SCV you disconnect a lot.

Are we honestly still in this discussion?

SC4 Ivy and SC5 Ivy are two different characters, living in two different games no less. The different overall mechanics will make a difference in between how a character is 'top tier' or not. Meaning, even if we had SC4 Ivy, that doesn't mean she'd be top in this game.

As for SC5 Ivy, post patch, I see her potential to be one of the top. She has about 5-6 really good moves are safe with the damage necessary for the kill. Once we get to -really- high level play, it'll show.

CH 9B stun to kill back dash and spam says hi. =P As does an i16 3(A) that reliably tracks both sides.

Elaborate. I'm not sure the patch upgrades helped her as much as I thought they would, so I'm curious what you have to say.

I think i16 3(A) would be to go but i18,would the 2 frames make a big enough difference? 9b stun would be real nice to have backbut doesn't it do more damage now if so it would have people on high blood pressure medicine being as a lot of pplwere salty about the sc4 version.

I have said it once and I will state it again: The patch may have damaged her more than it helped. Strictly MY opinion although I believe time will support my thoughts or reject it soundly. As far as the Ivy IV/V comparison goes, I think the IV version had more mindf*ck capabilities than the V version. Stance changes and requiring opponents to know what moves led to which stance enabled even us with non-pro skills to succeed. To be short, she was not easy to learn but when you grasped her concept even slightly you were ahead. V's version is opposite. I believe now she is very easy to learn, but her concept (if there even is one) has not been understood.

About the new thread with the patch changes, I think they made a mistake in saying CS/iCS is now clean hit A. Pretty sure it went from clean hit C to clean hit B. But the thread is pretty useful and even pointed out some things I didn't notice.
