SCV Lack of Support & Community Binding

Yeah there's spilled milk and "what ifs and if only" thoughts, but it does no good to cry and be negative about the reality of the situation. Stuff like jealousy of Capcom, pessimism of the game sux, and other spoiled thoughts isn't something I want to venture into. It's only gonna make me look stupid and childish. Right now, I care more on co-existing with other FGs and supporting the game I love as I compete to have fun. As such, I dislike-let me rephrase that I DETEST resorting to whining over spilled milk. It isn't productive. I instead like to go and show up to events because I care.

And I would of gotten away with it, if it weren't for that pesky West Nile Virus on my mom lol. Still, reality of the situation is I can't go to this year's Final Round because I have bad luck, otherwise nothing else besides relevant stuff will stop me from trying again and again until I get offline to get my ass whooped and hand some out in return.

tl;dr: I prefer if we were more optimistic and practical while battling the pessimism and uglies. Making threads like "what happened to the support of SCV" "SCV is dead" and vice versa? Yeah........I think they should be closed because again, I detest crying over spilled milk.

I think Marvel 3 proved beyond any doubt that communities make games, not engines. UMVC3 is a hail mary fest at best and it has an enthusiastic, active community so it still competes with SF4. There's a lesson to be learned there.

LMAO. Damn-I-Suck must be trolling because I don't know how anyone can be stupid enough to not use the internet to look up the hotel address for a tournament that was hosted in his own state AND had a $15,000+ prize pot.

I don't know why you're so defensive...or where you get the notion that any and all of us people who go to tournaments are rich. Like I said, whatever reason, it doesn't matter. I mean, using rent at an example, at the time you have to pay, it doesn't matter if something came up and you got robbed, lost your job, or just pissed your money away if you can't pay it. The end result is still the same.

Not to mention that that's still a pretty sorry to blame me because you didn't go. True enough, I didn't give you the hotel address but it's also true that you could've just as easily looked in the MLG topic, came yourself, and simply met us either at the venue or asked any of the other players who went where everyone was staying. If you really wanted to go bad enough, you would've gone, regardless of not knowing the address (which was right across the street from the venue).
Common sense is too much for people.

To Dope Dojo, there is a community in Norcal that plays Soul Calibur. Furthermore there was a point where every week there was a tournament. That faded away due to lack of support sadly. Gamecenter threw tournaments, Southtown threw tournaments, and Milpitas Golfland. At SCR, there was Soul Calibur with a fairly decent turnout. There are also places like Dragon Lounge where we have been to a few times fairly recently. Although NCR isn't officially throwing a tournament for Soul Calibur since it isn't an Evo game. I still might try and organize something. Come play with us dude, the scene here isn't as bad as you think. You just didn't know it existed.

A lot of Norcal players like to communicate with each other on facebook here, http://www.facebook.com/groups/200581696699876/. There is also an 8wayrun thread that is used a little less here, http://8wayrun.com/threads/northern...gas-on-notice-like-seth-killian.5795/page-206.

Also, a little pet project of mine to up the overall interest in the game and the skill level of the community as a whole. http://8wayrun.com/threads/global-colosseo-tuesday-take-overs.15888/

I think there's one thing that is really toxic for the Soul Calibur community in general: Constant whining.

The amount of people who don't like this game, but are still around venting their frustration at any given occasion (streams, chats, in-depth-discussions) is just retarded. And I don't understand these people. If I don't like anything, I don't do it and/or leave.
Discussion about issues with a game or things that are bad is completely fine. But with SC5 things got a little out of control, imo (and I don't know why).

i like the soul calibur series but i don't like soul calibur 5. i think there's a lot missing from SC5 (and there is) and it feels like an unfinished product. and the balance i think went wrong somewhere. these are just opinions of mine but are specifically the reason why i went back to SC5. but you bet your arse i supported the crap out of this game when tournies were going on.

Man a few months ago I use to do it...and all the venting just isn't worth it imo. I mean as much as you can hate on a game if you're hating on it forever and purposely keep giving it a bad name then its all a waste of time. Tbh if it wasn't for this community I would of been long gone and never be back here. You're right it is a poison but the way i dealt with the changes was I rolled with the punches and just played the game. But everyone is different and i think it gotten out of control mainly because just about every aspect of sc5 changed, if you compare it to the other sc games.

I was going to post some random dumb picture to lock this thread but I am not in the mood. This thread is train-wrecked so I am locking it before it gets more out of hand. Sorry to the few with real discussions.
