SCV- New CHARACTER ideas

Well, obviously most of the Soul Calibur fighters take from real culture (with some few notable exceptions), but that character is simply just fanart with a sword.

And whoever said a spear user would be exactly Hilde. It's like saying Kilik is exactly like Mina.

And didn't everyone already tell you, the actual general Shaka was a renowned military genius (and I have no idea how this is stereotypical). You also say Soul Calibur doesn't take from history or is not a historical documentary, but a lot of the characters themselves are based off of historical figures (Mitsurugi based off of Miyamoto Musashi, Hwang on Yi Sun-sin, Hilde on damn Jeanne d'Arc of all people).

"Zulu" isnt even the actual person's name, his name was Shaka kaSenzangakhona and I already said that the guy I suggested would be "Shaka Zulu" if thought out better and the "Hunga Munga" sword? Yeah, that just sounds insulting. -_- Making up words does not explore culure. And soul calibur has never used real warriors for their characters, they're all made up if you hadn't noticed by now so I don't see why the character I suggested is such a mistake when Its the same basic thing they do if not less detailed. Soul calibur characters are fully clothed and attractive to the eyes in design, Shaka is plain and stereotypical. this isnt a history documentry of simulator, Its a fantasy game like Warcraft so I dont see why a fully clothed elegant tribal is so taboo.

African swords are similar to Yun Seung's weapons or Xianghua's actually. You people endlessly complain about hilde but want a guy with the same weapon if not worse? hello hypocrites. I dont want long spears.

And who ever said tribe is not a European word, you're wrong. The word is from Old French "tribu,"

How is "Hunga Munga" insulting? It is NOT a made up word. Google it. Or was it because I didn't use its other name "Mambele"?

I said African because SC hasn't had one yet. Zasa isn't known to be from Africa and wields a scythe.

A spear would be a great idea. The wielder wouldn't have to use it exactly like Hilde.

Some SC characters arent based off of people. Some are made up like "Talim".

I'm not a hypocrite because I would like an African character with a long spear.

Zas is obviously the black character of the series regardless of origin, they could have made him white but they did not.
Talim is "Philipino" but has no actual hystorical facts backing her up, and clothing. As proof that SC isn't about representing races in the way SF is, just a multicutural cast of fantasy characters and what they want to conflict with the story. and Most if not all SC characters are made up/why? because its their game, Fictional history. The only things in soul calibur thats real and factual are the weapons and you are a hypocrite if you were one of those people whining about Hilde. I do not see whats so wrong about Eurocentric or or medieval Blacks if this isnt a game retelling our history, its make believe.
Why cant we have a tribal man fully clothed?

Kilik and Seung Mina dont use the same weapon. Hilde uses a spear and you give him a spear. A spear = a spear

I didnt say being a leader was stereotypical/I DID say Soul calibur takes enough from history to complete the fighting styles and character names and personality.

no humour, i learned many new things in this thread (warning, heavy sarcasm here*)

Next one i expect at this point is some creationism thoery about God that had created the black man 100 years ago, in New York (Africa actually is a legendary land, that did'nt really exist. And if exist people can't live there,is all jungle full of dinosaurs)

Honestly are pages that you're writing massive amount of bs about african tradition/culture/history, where the only, truly, holy thing to say was

"personally i don't like it"

You don't like it? Perfect, just speak for yourself
Actually exist black peoples proud of their origins and heritage(one my friend is one and one my ex girl another,so at this world are at least 2), because believe or not african people's culture have his history exactly like every other place of this world, and in total humbleness personally(see? it's easy) i don't give a fuck what "north american media" have to say about it, it can't change this fact

*hint: sarcasm is in the word "learned"

Obviously being a delicate argument and being my english horrible, i'm willing to retry and try to explain it better

But i think my point is simple: don't try to turn an entire culture(or better many many cultures) into something inferior/negative/wrong because you personal don't like it

I think that they should have some kind of a circus freak character (Female) and she should be kind of like Voldo in a sense but not as ecentric. She should have weapons around her ancles and have a little dagger or something... I don't know if there is a fighting style like that but hey, they are creative they will come up with something lol.

My friend! :D

You know,is since SC4(due the stage) that i've started thinking that a circus can offer an huge amount of awesome stereotypes for SC

The knives juggler (knives), the lions tamer(whip), the uber strong-man(something uber heavy), the crazy clown(some crazy shit), the fire-eater (clubs on fire), the acrobat

Tira have something of the jester/juggler/acrobat character, but not fully

Seriously for a chara designer a circus can give fucktons of ideas

So because "Zas is obviously the black character of the series..." there can't be more? I actually know that Talim is Filipino FYI and the only non-fiction thing about her is her elbow blades. I know SF does represent some characters in their cultural way, some even stereotypical. You are trying to make a point that SC is a made up fantasy game as if I didn't notice. The one eyed sword was evidence enough. Yes, their weapons are real and the only thing I have said of Hilde is to dumb down her charge attacks and upgrade the non-charge. About the blacks being clothed you missed the point that Zas if fully clothed.

Another good character would be a female samurai. Not like Setsuka, like Mitsurugi kind of. That would be cool.

we are probably going to get a new MALE samurai
Mitsu SCV bio is about searching somebody that say to be "his long lost brother"

I doubt there will be another Samurai. I just thought "What if a geisha with a deadly fan or something was to appear as a new character." or would that be Setsuka? Anyway, it would be cool.

Him being a samurai is pure speculation

He can be anything from samurai,to ninja,to monk to the tanegashima SE dude,to i don't know :D
