The only JFs that aren't shown in the practice mode list are agB and FC 3aB (or 2143aB, both can be JFed.) which you simply have to do as quickly as possible, unlike the others that you have to do simply as they are shown...

How to do JF for Setsuka.
I think he's looking for some constructive help on the timing for the moves. For a new player, there's no real tutorial on WHICH single frame you have to hit things so it can seem nigh impossible.
For all of Sets' normal JFs (1A;A;A, 1B:B, FC 3B:B, and BT B+K:B) each JF hit should be input roughly at the same time the previous strike connects with the opponent. So basically, when you see/hear her sword smack the opponent is when you should press the next button.
If you get it right, you'll see a nice white flash.
As for a:gB and FC 3a:B, basically, the ":" means "hit the next attack within one frame of hitting the first. Also, the "a" can't be pressed down when the next button is pressed.

i find it is easy to learn them by going into practice mode and turning the music off but the sound effects up. you will here a whoosh, like a sword being sheathed when you get the timing right.

The FC3aB is the main one thats giving me problems. Im trying to finish combos off with it but cant get it down. I can do most of the other ones. the DB BB JF gives me trouble but only cause of the timing of it. Thanks for the info though. Im a Talim player trying to pick her up. She is fun to play with

now, i can't do this reliably from 236, but I can do it consistently from A+K, B. I buffer (idk if this is the right term) the 236 when watching the B finish its animation, then i do the 3aB as fast as i can, sliding my thumb from A to B.

How to do JF for Setsuka.
It will naturally be easier on a controller to slide. It's the rub your tummy pat your head theory. It's much easier to do two motions that are similar and in the same rhythm (21412[36] aB) than to do two different motions that are not similar or in the same rhythm (21412[36] A A+B). Hope that makes sense.

I've given up on with Setsuka with a Stick. Her
or are just too hard with the stick. It is like anti what most people would expect. For me, it is anti Virtua Fighter where most of the technical moves, are just easier for me on a stick.
Not just that, But If I concentrate, I can do the silver moon combo like 90-95% of the time of a pad, but then it drops heavily on a stick. If I concentrate, maybe I can get it 50% once I get a hang of the directions. Just throwing it out on a combo, and not in the environmentally neutral and pressure less training mode, it drops to like 10% on a stick.
I've already talked about it is easier to do the agB on a pad, unless I rearrange my stick buttons, but then It would defeat the purpose. It leaves only bA as the only move easier to do on a stick vs. pad when I'm playing as her.
Whats worse, I didn't play SCIV on a pad, ever, just picked it up today and it was instantly better. Previously, I would quickly try a move on a pad, but never actually played an actual match on a pad. And it is not like I don't have a good stick, I have the VSHG.

Sounds like you have controller dislexia. Everything should be easier for you on the stick especially if you're used to VF5. I been using mine all through out VF5 and there's no comparison between using Setsuka with a pad and the stick. I could not do the JF Umbrella with the pad...it's cake now. Have you taken a break form VF5 and maybe your stick skills are rusty? I tried the same thing and when I went back to VF5 I realized that I had just become lazy because most of these SCIV characters don't require the input VF characters do. Now, my wrist movement is good again. (Fun times on and off the game)

Haha, I have the same problem with Setsuka on a stick. Everything else is fine BUT her Umbrella. Most of the time either 214A comes out or I can't buffer it properly in time. With pad, it's a breeze.. T__T

It's all pad for me, too.
Though I can still play on a stick if necessary. I just feel like I make a lot less mistakes on a pad.

well, I don't know what it is. The other characters aren't as affected as setsuka is as they often don't have the same strict timing with just frames. Especially when you NEED to do them in a combo in the heat of a match. It is not like the Pad is 100% better, I still shake out of stuns a zillion times quicker on a stick, and slide moves are still much better. It is just the whole package, when everything taken into accout "ie.. wins" The pad just comes out on top. I did take a break from VF5 but that game is like a glove for me. It will take like 20min and I'lll be fine, a couple days of competition and I'll be back in the thick of things.
Anyways, as of right now, I'm retiring the stick for Setsuka. It will still be an option when I play with Zas, Sophitia, Taki, or Cervantes,

i havent used a stick yet but i've been wanting one for a while now. setsuka is THE character that i would think is much better on joystick... i play with a pad currently and i just can't do the JF umbrellas fast enough consistantly and aGb (yes even non JF version) is extremely hard for me.

When I first tried playing Setsuka using a regular hori stick, I could not get off a JF umbrella to save my life. Upgraded to a HRAP3 and all of the sudden things started clicking. No way I could use a pad to play her.

How to do JF for Setsuka.
For the agB part, do you use the normal buttons, or are you using something else to act as B?
I use the B+G button instead, so in reality my input is agB+G.
That way it works almost all the time.
