It is ridiculous. Personally, I think Sophitia and Rothion are one of the most beautiful couples within the entire series. To have believed, understood and accepted that the person he loves with his entire heart is involved with a dangerous quest given to her by the hand of a God is one thing... but to repeatedly have to part with her and spend each waking night wondering if she will ever return home to him and her children has to be of no doubt emotionally traumatising. If it weren't for the fact that they had children to watch over, I'm sure he would have wanted to join his wife and protect her on her journey; just as Cassandra had desired to do for her sister.
People really irritate me that they 'hate' Rothion purely because he's married to Sophitia. All they literally want to do is find an excuse to pair her with their favourite character, so they can go around making these smut stories and whatnot. ~__~
