Solve the mystery

see i was gonna make an effort to answer this, and i think i started off well by throwing out a whole bombardment of questions to try to narrow things down, but now im too busy being bogged down with homework to care. if that clears up in a few days, maybe ill get back at it. maybe.

Slay it took you a week to reply to my question, and then it took you like 3 hours to actually respond to the question. You aren't coming back to this we both now that.

Well, I've given up on this, see you on the 19th.

BTW, will there be another? Preferably one that's a bit simpler, just a bit.

What we know so far:

The young man was on a boat trip with his mother and father (the old man). For some reason, which was the fault of the son, the boat exploded. The mother was killed in the explosion and the old man was blinded. They were lost at sea as a result.

The old man has a grudge against the son, not for causing the explosion though, which somehow involves seagulls, and the seagull he ordered was meant to remind his son of the event.

I think I have it.

Just one more question. Did they eat the mother while they were stranded/lost at sea?
