Sophitia General Discussion / Q&A

For some reason when I launch my opponent with 33B then use B+K, they fly soooooooooooooooo far away its hilarious!
I've gotten so many ring outs with this! lol
Trust me I'm not complaining, but why is this so?

its been like that for a number of games, anytime BT B+K hits an airborne apponentit sends them flying back a lot, it's a property on several moves like astas charged bullrush or lizard mans 4b+kG

What is sophitia's quickest move

The quickest move witch is also the 2nd quickest in the game is 236:B:

Guard break/CF?

Hey all,

I've recently decided to switch my main to Sophitia. I'm still pretty new to SC4(the whole series actually) and I started out maining vader but i wanted someone more Soul calibur-y...make sense?

Anyway, I have been rocking face with Sophie; KO's and RO's are looking good and my GIs, guard, and step are doing great. My problem is, i get my opponent in the blinking red about 75% of the time. I love how people freak and just come at me when this happens, good for mind games...but what are my best options for a Guard break so i can CF these fools?

Thank's in advance for help/suggestions. (sorry if this belongs elsewhere, move if so.)

Guard break/CF?

what i like to do is GI ppl when they are in flashing red...and do 44B+K...it only takes 2 of them. Also 4B+K breaks in 3 when flashing :)

Guard break/CF?

Ok... i must have been confused before this point then. The only way to get a CF was to hit L1 right after Guard break and i thought the only moves that netted guard breaks were flashy "lightning moves" as my scrub ass calls them. Is this not the case? Please clarify CF's for me, i guess i don't fully understand.

Guard break/CF?

To Criticla Finish you must Soul Crush your opponent then press A+B+K+G(or button you have set to that combination). To Soul Crush your opponent you must deal damage to their Soul Gauge past when it begins flashing red. The Soul Crush animation itself looks like a guard break, but lasts significantly longer and breaks equipment, the sound effect is also different I believe. You deal damage to a person's Soul Gauge by getting them to block stuff. Moves like 66B, 4B+K, 44B+K, 22A and 66B+K are some of the better breaking moves for Sophie.

Anyway I'm going to merge this thread with the general discussion thread. In the future try to post random questions in there or a thread on a related topic.

What the hell? I typed up a post in Quick Reply answering Psylo's Soul Crush question but it must've disappeared with the merge Suirad =p

Anyway, besides what Sui already mentionend, my lost post mentioned rather using 4B+K rather than 44B+K against skilled players because more and more people nowadays anticipate the 'heavy hitting crush' moves. 44B+K is heavily telegraphed and sidestepped/GI'ed whereas 4B+K while doing less soul gauge damage is safer and quicker to execute.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. In my OP i mentioned that i wasn't sure where it went, so thanks for moving. Anyhow, am i right to assume that not all blocked moves deal damage to the Soul Gauge then? Like, WS A, or BB, stuff like that? I need to crush with more damaging moves? It seems like i'm wasting a big part of the game when i have NO CFs and i get almost every opponent in the red blink zone. Help!

Sorry, about that lunar.

Anyway 44B+K can work out when opponent's mobility is limited, like post GI, wake up(If opponent is willing to wake anyway), or maybe if you blocked a move with really bad -. If people are going try to GI you can mix the two for different speeds and the knockdown nets you another attempt at attacking the gauge if you run in. Sure 44B+K is harder to land, but it can be done.

/edit/ Yes all moves deal damage to the guard gauge. The wiki(http://www.8wayrun.com/wiki/Sophitia:SC4:FD:ALL) and the Guard Crush thread(Mikosu's post is here: http://www.8wayrun.com/showpost.php?p=25694&postcount=28) have information on how many blocks it takes to break opponents gauge

Sorry, but one last question to clear this up. Referring to mikosu's guide, is that how many it takes after they are blinking red? Or is that just from green, the starting gauge? My problem isn't getting them to flashing red, it's just the finish. Remember i'm still pretty noob so, i'll have these dumb questions for a bit.

That's from the Green they start at the beginning of the match. Keep in mind opponent gains gauge by attacking(both hitting and getting blocked), parrying, at the end of a round if they were blinking red, and I think slowly with time. # to break is just a method of comparison really.

Ok, so the original question was, what are the best moves to "Soul Crush" or guard break after they are blinking red. What do i do to set up A+B+K+G? That is the only part i can't get, i think i have it then i whiff A+B+K+G and get punished... you know what i mean?

The best moves to soul crush are the ones with the lowest numbers on that list. They are the best both to make them blink red and to Soul Crush them at that point. I dont understand the question about setting up A+B+K+G. Also the opponent is stunned for a long time when they are Soul Crushed, and A+B+K+G doesn't "whiff" if you use it at the wrong time your character looks like they got a headache for a moment then returns to normal.
