Soul Calibur 5 Guest/Bonus/CAS Character Discussion

I don't know, Lizardman's beautiful wings scream "Baten Kaitos" to be more than Yoshi, perhaps it's just that I'm a fan of the two games.

Thanks, I like the over all character of spawn. Great story? Do not know because I have never gone that far. Love the art and over all design of each characters though.

If your wondering who this is, it is Date Masamune from Sengoku Basara.

Now I would like to point out that although I do not like star wars that much (Akira kurosawa rip off! XD) I must point out that it is "A long long time ago in a galaxy far far away". Never quite said the year, so it is not too far fetched to go "Hey, it could happen". I still did not like it because it is just.....the hell man?
 
Well the point is, lightsabers ought to be able to slice steel katanas in half. Unless they're made of..I don't know (see Vader V Mitsu for reference)
 
Tago-san did admit they didnt make a right choice of guests in this game, I think. Luckily they redempted themselves with Ezio.

EDIT : Damn, I mean "redeemed". Curse you SC IV Siegfried!!

You mean Redeemed? Anyway, I agree. Like I said before, one could be a dick and go...*puts on giant square nerd glasses* "Well, ezio actually would not have lived till the 1600s so he is off by 100 years". *nerd laugh*

BUT WHO CARES! Closest they have gotten to a highly popular character and have it make sense. Truth be told, I would have been fine without a guest character.

I did like parts of the newest Final Fantasy. It was very good looking, the music was good (though not the best). Though it had some terrible flaws. Story was weak at best, characters were shallow, took to long to figure out who they were and what was going on (I'm a fan of en medias res, but damn..). Needless to say I'm holding out on FF14 (time travel? really...?), bide my time and save my money for Bioshock. Never played Kingdom Hearts.

True, but Yoda and Darth Vader were no where near the best fit for the game. I'd prefer just canon only characters, but guests being popular in video games of this genre, that's who I thought would do well. You could do much worse though. Like a character from one of the most popular video game and movie franchises in recent memory, Batman. "Okay writing staff, explain this!"

One of the best fitting characters they could have chosen, as far as the time setting and style of the game is concerned.
 
in my personal opinion, i think the prince from the 2 thrones would have been a better choice. i mean really they could have had 2 guest characters that fit fairlly nicely in terms of style and general timeline(era of persian empire may be a bit older but close enough)

they could have made dark prince as one guest and normal prince as the other. dark prince would sport a good ol rope dart style(note: ivy doesnt use a rope dart style, its a fukin whip/sword thing which is totally differnt then what dark prince uses)

and normal prince sporting the parry dagger and sword combo............

idk from the gameplay that iv seen with ezio, im sumwhat disappointed...... ezio is a cool character and all, but hes just not really a fighter.........

and ezio is so normal when compared to everyone else on sc5( cervantes is a demon pirate dude, ivy has big tits, nastu is a flamboyant ninja,zwei has a bad ass wolf thing, viola looks like litte red riding hood and has a magic orb with finger claws............etc)

ezio is just an assassin.......and you cant even argue that his hidden blades are unique cause dampeirre beat him too it in sc5............

in my opinion ezio was a poor choice in character based off of design( smart choice for marketting though, but fuck it im SC fan already i don't need namco throughing media brand characters due to popularity and upcoming game-revelations- to sell me SC, but then again ezio wasn't intended for the soul calibur community..........)

And more important,have he played Ezio in SCV?
Because i've and Ezio don't seem sloppy at all

On the contrary as animations seem really fast/technical/accurate

And also LOL at judge one character based on the engine of the game

Ezio in AC,but not sloppy AC combat system

It's clear the dude don't know how to fight

yes iv played every assassins creed...............and if you have played ass effectivly as i did you would understand that ezio doesnt really fight, he does either 3 things...........assassinates........if they are blocking wildly wacks the sword against the person guarding untill one hit kill animation kicks in.....or straight to the one hit kill animation........

none of that is really "sc5" type of fighting, ezio is an assassin as in direct confrontations is a no no, and if you did play assassins creed they encouraged stealth and quick kills, not take on the entire patrol squad with wild swings untill the one hit kill animation kicked in.......

aslo.........im not denying he is a fighter, im rejcting the fact that his style of fight doesn't apply effectively in sc5............ezio is either kill with the first attack or kill with the guards weapons.......

ezio never was good for a drawn out battle............and the cutscene more or less proves what i meant, sort of....i mean he pretty much killed every guard within 1 second of touching him.........

i love the epic fail, yet a brighter display of ignorance, do you even understand whats going on?

thats not a direct confrontation, he didn't choose to be ambushed......

he was forced into the fight, its kill or be killed..............

direct confrontation would refer to ezio's choice of battle, if it were up to him im pretty sure he wouldn't have faced an entire army.........
 
And why,SC chars are all first line war dogs?

Voldo pass his life in a pit ambush thieves
Tira is an assassin too,she prefer stealth style
Taki and now Natsu are kunoichi,stealth at gogo
Dampierre is basically a common criminal all tricks

There are many type of "class" in SC

About fighting skills?
About fighting skills the video show it,and more important SCV Ezio i've seen and played is far from being sloppy,again to be honest seem one of the most technical fighters
 
So basically there won't be a Final Fantasy chracter? I remember Daishi saying that he wanted one in the game, doesn't seem like they would be that out of place.

That was a long time ago before SC5 was even considered in early development. Im glad its scrapped. People need to move on and obsess over other cool characters. Ezio is great alone.
