He has a signature move ( AETHER!!!) while no body in Fire Emblem has. 1 point for Ike over every other Fire Emblem character.
Except crits and a quite a few unique moves(Heck, Eliwood has just as many as Ike has with his Durendal animations). not really a notable point, and certainly nothing that will give him games.
" Oh come on you sure do have an unplugged wire somewhere in your brain you are talking about character that barely have recognition out of japan Ike >>> Celice worldwide."
Ike's worldwide popularity isn't as impressive as you'd think. Marth's remake outsold his better selling game worldwide, and on it's own almost outsold BOTH Ike's games.
And being really popular in Japan>>being only somewhat popular worldwide.
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn was released year before SSBB
and Path of Radiance was 3 years before it that is one hell of promotional campaign.
Yeah, no characters in Brawl are included for promotional reasons. Tell me, which FE game was still giving out copies at the time Brawl was on it's way?
Right, only Ike's. Had it just been based on popularity, I'd argue Lyn or even Hector would have gotten the spot. Or even Roy(who was indeed planned to return).
Keep dreaming I'm sure until next year at least we won't have a new Fire Emblem game.
Did I say we would? No. Doesn't make Ike any safer when Marth's crew is both more recent and popular.
I hate Marth but I won't deny if we had one character Marth would be the obvious choice because he is more "recognized" while Ike isn't that much but don't claim that Marth is the absolute favorite of FE fans.
Of the majority of the fanbase, he is. Easily so in Japan. Especially with FE being way more popular in Japan than worldwide(Japanese sales making up almost half of the total, while Europe and NA having to pitch together just to beat the japanese FE sales).
If ike was included, it would be to sell games. With Marth's FEs being the ones actually still being produced, his pals stand a lot better chance than Ike.
From Intelligent Systems point of view:
Hmm, we have a character whose games are no longer being produced at all, and then we have popular guys from games that we are still making copies of.
We put in the guy who has a game we can't actually gain anything notable by having him in there.
Ogma and Marth's other pals are popular and can sell more games than Ike by being in. Hence, they have a much better chance. Money makes the gaming business go round, after all.
