Soul Calibur 6 Discussion

Hayate has said he's heard similar things from his own sources. So V's motivations aren't really super relevant with info we've heard from more than one person.

I really want to believe it, but this has happened before and not even with just SCVI. That's my whole thing; who benefits? But one can hope.

Just wanna bump in here and back up Hayate's claims.
I heard about possible news of an announcement of SC6 back in Feb 2017 from a "reliable" source, of course, a grain of salt, I took it with.
Then came the leaks which coincides with the news from Feb 2017.
After which, I'm also presented with the 'possible' release period after the leaks went out.

So yay or nay, we'll see soon enough.

All of these possible claims really hype me up. I just feel like some of these things don't make sense. Why would Soul Calibur try and adopt a method of "switching styles" mid game? To get Pyrrha Omega in along with Pyrrha? The more popular thing would be to just have a separate character imo. But this is all speculation, and there is no concrete evidence NOR concrete information.

That being said, I really hope this is true.

But why announce Soul Calibur next month exactly?
Tekken 7's hype, DBZ releasing, the time seems... off?

From what I heard, they are attempting to spread the hype across the 2nd half of the year (not sure how good of a job they are doing).
Doesn't make sense to announce everything together.
1) Tekken 7 was "released" earlier in the year and had multiple big tournaments across that period
2) During mid year (when Tekken hype is slowly falling off), DBZ was announced and planned release date is in Jan 2018 with possible tournaments once again
3) Can you see where this is going already? December 2017 for SC6 announcement and possible 2nd half 2018 release after DBZ hype goes down

Argh, 2 weeks.

Just wondering, if Kilik has gone back to using the staff, what are the overall implications? Such as Xiba having no place now because his predecessor is using his weapon, plus the leaker specifying that there were "retcons". What do you think?

I personally wouldn't mind all of the replacements now being replaced with the characters they replaced in SC5. That was a weird sentence, but I think that's the best way to handle it. I have a hard time believing there's anyone who would like to see Xiba over Kilik, Natsu over Taki, Pyrrha over Sophitia, Alpha Patroklos over Setsuka, or etc.

That said, I got a feeling chances are high we'll see Patroklos and Pyrrha return. They've ignored most of the new SC5 characters in the SC projects in the last few years, but those two characters specifically keep popping up (like in SC: Lost Swords and the Pachislo game).

Well i didnt mind any new character i liked them. But if they really want to return movesets to old characters zwei viola pat should stay. Pat is a great character for beginners and the only male sword and shield style as well. And i mean viola is definitely better than amy.

Let's hope they'll keep the amount of SCV returnees to a bare minimum. I really don't want Patroklos to return because he was cancer, so I hope they learned their lesson.

If they were going all in with some kind of system where characters can switch between styles, the styles for Viola would be obvious: floating balls and rapier. For the heck of it, they can make her have the same dialogue as in SC3. She could be the Groot of Soul Calibur.
