Well, if it helps the game to launch with more character I don't mind waiting a lil more. I just want a 30 character roster that's it :o There is no way SC will get as big budged as Tekken so we can't expect 30+ characters but 30max would be cool ^^

My fav SC games by rank....

SC1 - The G.O.A.T. No other fighting game will ever beat this.
SC3 - The best single player content and probably the SC I spent the most time playing.
SC4 - Garbage as far as content but it had everyone in it and had Ivy's 1P outfit, probably the best outfit ever in a fighting game.
SC2 - I didn't own this originally but played it in the arcades when it came out. I later bought SC2HD Online and I still play it from time to time.
SC5 - Worst in the series. Embarrassing story, missing characters, and annoying new characters (I'm looking at you Pat and Natsu). Only good thing about it IMO are the graphics and faster combat.

A SC game that's a mix of SC1 and SC3 would be ideal for me.
 
WTF? Why would you not want an arcade release?

There's a damn good reason that the SoulCalibur games with the most polished gameplay (SC1 and SC2) started out in arcades. Those games were basically beta tested by arcade players while Namco developed more content for the console release. You could say that the great console ports we eventually got were partially funded by arcades. Since abandoning their arcade-first release policy, every SoulCalibur game has released buggy or imbalanced.

Is your only argument "but I want the game sooner!"? Well, SC2 had only 16 characters in arcades and no one cared. Yesterday people were flipping out over the possibility of SC6 only have 20 characters. Arcade releases can be barebones and still be successful.

But don't worry. It won't get an arcade release because the series isn't popular enough in Japan. And I'm sure SC6 will be buggy/imbalanced and will need some patches. Hooray?

Hey guys, new here but wanted to ask. Does anyone follow Dynasty on YouTube? He does a lot of Injustice 2 content and has recently started covering SoulCalibur 6 news. He uploaded a video earlier today talking a bit about the roster and character selection screen taken from an interview. Not sure if it's new information in regards to this forum.

And how exactly does an arcade release help in anything at all? Any well tested game will be released in a very good state when it comes to bugs, and it can still be patched to deal with whatever minor ones it had left, specially because it will always need patches to update balance and even add new content, so its not like there is an additional cost to that. Using arcades as some sort of test phase is something only stupid companies do, there is no advantage in it. Its like @JohnMcKee said, some people shouldn't have access to social media.

To clarify: in past games not all stuns were shakeable. Just a select few. To me this adds a little more depth to high level play as far as mind games go.

I most certainly dont want all stuns shakeable, maybe just a small handful or make some run counter stuns shakeable. Or something like that.

As far as the argument of “abusing online latency”. Not really a concern for me as I personally interested in more offline tourney play as opposed to online play.
 
Not to interrupt the arcade discussion but I was thinking of the guest character thing, I really hope there isn't a ridiculous amount of them, Imo 1 - 2 guest characters would be a good amount for the game, Maybe I'm just saying this from the perspective of a MK fan but MKX was insane in this regard. Not only did they cut out lots of actual MK characters to have guests at launch but when they started releasing dlc 4 out of the 8 dlc characters were guest characters, That's way to many in my opinion especially since there was still main MK characters that weren't in that then didn't get in because they were to busy adding guest characters.

To explain:
Say a developer develops 24 characters that are finished by launch.
The publisher says "Hey fuck that, take 4 of those and let's sell them as DLC."
Congratulations, you just made back what could amount to half of the game's entire sales because players feel obligated to buy them, especially in something like a fighting game where characters are honestly a complete necessity since you can't train against a character you don't own.
And that's where fighting game character DLC truly fucking fails and is particularly scummy. It isn't as "optional" as you are ever lead to believe.
That is a lie. In a fighting game, to truly know the ins and outs, you have to have every character. There is no argument against it. It is fact.
Otherwise, you're handicapping yourself and your knowledge of the game.

Also, Soul Calibur 1, 2 and 3 didn't exactly exist in a world where things could be easily patched out like they can be now. Fuck an arcade release, tbh. I'd rather test the game out myself and contribute to the process of finding bugs then let those stoners at the arcade do it.

There are people who think IV had the best balance and V had the best balance, you can look it up in this forum their discussions as they are not relevant right now, the point being that a lot of people forget SC II hang ups and call it polished while ignoring them.

On another note, games need hype to sell well, sadly, if you think Tekken 7 Arcade did you well, you forget how many people couldn't give less of a fuck when it came out, it sold well, but it could have sold more.

Taken from an interview with Okubo on Metro.co.uk when asked about guest characters.
"I do understand that the guest characters presence is quite big in the previous SoulCaliburs. In that sense I'm hoping to be able to introduce guest characters in this game, and to be able to surprise everyone....but I cannot say anymore." Take that as you will
