"SoulCalibur: Unbreakable Soul" Trademarked

YOU ARE FUCKING STUPID. EVERY SINGLE FIGHTING GAME IS PLAGUED WITH AWFUL DESIGN. SOULCALIBUR OUTSHINES THEM ALL BY COMPARISON, AND IT STILL HAS MASSIVE ISSUES.

Lol, oh it's that annoying clown again who posts in all caps and types about sentient life being useless (horrible discussion)... xD Go honk your bright red nose more!

Everyone said Virtua Fighter was the most balanced game for the longest time, but the characters in the game originally were so dull and horrible, and they didn't even have arcade mode endings (let alone a story).

Game mechanics for fighting games on how good or bad they are, is all dependent on opinion. For instance you could say Tekken is too fast paced, or say Street Fighter is too heavy on execution timing, or MvC3 is too heavy on 80+ hit death combos. You could say Soul Calibur is flawed with netcode, OP characters, Hilde Doom Combos, or broken infinities. The fact that these games have small flaws in them doesn't mean they're bad fighting games. But they already do a good job incorporating a game that plays well anyways.

BlazBlue is a great game with great netcode and gets annual balance patches, and they have one of the biggest story modes ever. Did they NEED to sacrifice the story mode aspect just to make the game "not suck"? Lol!!

Why do I have a feeling that Unbreakable Soul may turn out to be a heavily belated "Super Expansion" to Soul Calibur V? This looks like a similar pattern that I saw with DOA5.

Hear me out, the game came out and was relatively well-received despite some criticism towards absent characters, lack of series staple fanservice, a mild lack of innovation and an unorthodox story mode without individual endings.

Then Team Ninja came out with a free-to-play variant of DOA5 that had some added on features, characters and fanservice. A little while later, DOA5 Ultimate was released with a lot of content from both the FTP game and the original game including patches, more new characters, series staple cosplay and fanservice outfits, improvements to the gameplay including more tag battle modes and a power launcher mechanic and even a new netcode for online.

Let's take this back to SCV and Unbreakable Souls. SCV was released and it was a base breaker that people either liked for what it was or hated because of it's wasted potential amongst other problems like missing characters, lack of offline content and an incomplete storyline. PS did release some DLC for a few months, but eventually cut off the lifeline to SCV despite there being a few DLC packs that were unreleased.

The FTP Lost Swords game is coming out in February with some gameplay changes (I thought I saw someone use the classic GI in a beta video, but I can't read japanese so I can't say for certain), more emphasis on offline play, actual crafting and stats added to character customization, and several veterans returning such as Sophitia, Taki and quite a few more such as Amy, Cassandra, and (true/staff?) Kilik if the roster leak can be trusted.

If I'm right and I honestly hope that I'm not, then Unbreakable Souls will be a "Super Soul Calibur V" that will come out late 2014/early or mid 2015 that will have some new content, plus all of the stuff from Lost Swords and SCV.

How come DOA5 can get away with a "super" edition and SCV can't? DOA5 wasn't as well received as previous installments much like SCV, but it was still a fully complete game that was recognizable as a DOA game.
SCV had neither of those luxuries. Not only is SCV barely recognizable as an SC game, but it's a bare-bones fighter that's very incomplete with terrible story

Because of this, it will be impossible to judge as to whether or not any of the "new" content in "Unbreakable Souls/Super SCV" will actually be legit additions or just stuff that was supposed to be in SCV, but was cut/removed. So any fan who hopes for SCV to be the true SC game that they'd originally petitioned and begged PS for will have to pay full price for a game that they should've gotten the first time around. Which could lead to a significant amount of fans who may not even want to buy the game whether it's good or bad because this will look like something out of Capcom's playbook.

But if I'm wrong and for once I hope that I am here, Unbreakable Souls may in fact be a codename for standalone SC game that won't be SCVI, but it also won't be SCV. Maybe this game will be something that reinvents the wheel to keep up with the evolving competitive crowd, but still has a diverse and interesting character roster, workable and non-overly complicated fighting mechanics, and plenty of offline and online content to keep it's replay-value strong. Maybe they're saving SCVI for the next gen consoles and Unbreakable Souls will be the last SC game released for the 360/PS3/WiiU to tithe fans over till the next big SC game is released much like Dream Drop Distance was released to tithe over KH fans until KH3 is finished.

Until we formally hear more about Unbreakable Souls, speculation will have to be our companion for the time-being.

DOA5U came out first, and then the F2P was based on 5U not 5.

Also on the gameplay changes, they're a joke. If they actually implemented them into the next official main SC game, then it'd just be a joke. Sure LS will be entertaining but I definitely do not want those gameplay changes in SCVI or Unbreakable Souls for that matter.

I still feel this game like the Broken Destiny of SC5 for Vita or 3DS, maybe I´m wrong, sure, but that is my feeling for now. If that is the case, of course I wish more than BD, it was good game but lacking in lot of things (like no online), and hopefully they can add more characters too.

On the other hand, I would be happy if it´s a Super SC5 style for the same consoles as SC5, maybe they can even add the new characters of LS (if the characters leak are correct). Who knows, maybe some of those characters were supossed to be in SC5 if it wasn´t rushed.

I can´t see another SC fighting game apart of those two for this name, but Namco can always surprise me, let´s remember Legends x)

Is this inherently bad though? If the Vita/3DS can take it, surely current phones can?
Yes, but that doesn't mean it'll be a fighting game. Any fighting game on mobile is usually a card/slot/etc game. So yes, it is inherently bad lol. And if it actually was a fighting fighting game, then you'd probably have to pay for it.

I absolutely love BlazBlue aside from it being super hard, but that story was awfully anime-generic... let's be honest here.

You know, in my opinon, if they ever decide to use the Lost Swords gameplay formula they can always use it for Story Mode. I think that would be pretty cool. That's just me though :p

I think it'd be cool if they brought back the story mode formula from SCIII. You know, the one where going from Japan to Istanbul is a nice little day trip. And whatever they do with Lost Sword's gameplay, it's probably going to stick at least a little.

Oh well I was writing under the assumption that it was (and of course for pay). If not, lol.

i'm sorry but as i was reading this i was finding the lack of knowledge overbearing. DOA5 is actually well received. and does not have a "staple" for fanservice. it has about the same, if not less, fan service than SC5. the gameplay has always been solid and Team Ninja has been extremely supportive of this game and has easily outdone what Project Soul has done, for SCV in its lifetime, in less than a year. TN shows that they listen to their fans when it comes to content and hear out what the players have to say about gameplay and flow. if you want a flat and easy analysis then let me just say

Namco doesn't seem to love soul calibur as much as Tecmo loves DOA. and why wouldn't you want a new version or updated SC series by now anyway? if they can do something better than SCV then i am all behind them. hell, anything new is better at this point because SCV doesnt seem to be getting anymore attention from Namco or Project Soul.

So you've never heard of the Extreme Volleyball games? Or the bouncy boob option? Or the skimpy outfits that only the most dedicated of perverts can level grind to unlock (Or pay real money to download)? I actually have DOA5U and though the fanservice reputation is a little exaggerated, I firsthand see how it got the reputation in the first place. (Set the jiggle option high enough and the slightest motion will make the females breasts look like they're trying to jump out of their shirts. Come on now)

Fanservice aside, DOA5 was positively received, but not as well as previous games due to the criticisms that I'd previously posted. Criticisms that were addressed in the Ultimate Version and DOA5U's FTP version because Team Ninja is actually humble enough to acknowledge when they've made mistakes and will fix them.

I was drawing up a parallel to a possibility for Unbreakable Souls and why having Unbreakable Souls be a codename for a "Super Soul Calibur V" would not work for SCV. That's why I hope Unbreakable Souls ends up having nothing to do with SCV unlike Lost Swords which appears to be a retooled FTP version of SCV.

So, Soul Calibur Lost Swords is a free to play game only for PS3! Many fans want a Soul Calibur game for PSPvita...
