Soulcalibur VI DLC Discussion Thread

Ornstein is my first pick, he's got a lot of different attacks.

Swing string combos, thrust attacks, dashing lunges, ranged bolts, leaping slams, impaling attacks for throws.

Thats more than any other bosses or NPCs i think. They could also use the basic, generic abilities players have like roll dodges, backstabs and other spear attacks. Plus i dont think its ridiculous to maybe give Ornstein a chime/talisman and have him use some other low level miracles even though he doesnt do that in game. We gotta figure he has at least some small faith in order to use his spear. I'd want him to use Darkmoon blade miracle or lightning blade miracle for a Soul Charge.

The thing about Artorias is we've never seen an accurate depiction of him. By the time a player encounters him, he's already sick, dying and shambling around like a zombie. The real, healthy Artorias supposedly had his shield and probably Sif as a backup ally. We never got to see that and i think the Abyss corrupted Artorias did the same flip attacks over and over. I dont think that boss fight had a lot of variety.
Sadly the size of most dark souls bosses exclude them from being possible guests but I guess sister friede and abyss watchers from DS3 would be small enough and have a unique enough move set to have a shot. The thought of my opponent stopping to drink estus in a soulcalibur game makes me doubt we will get a DS guest

This is an option that doesnt require dealing with an outside company though and NB gets to cross promote two games this way.

Would make sense of there is a new DS game coming out... there might be in the future, but no news atm. They have other games to pull from within their massive library.

Dark Souls is still a massively successful franchise and keep in mind DS remastered came out on switch the same day SCVI came out so I wouldn't say it's out of the question but I find it unlikely

Ornstein isnt bigger than Astaroth.

Fair enough. Thinking back on it Ornstein does seem to have a larger attack pool than Artorias (or really most of the bosses in the franchise), and he'd have a more unique weapon too (wielding a spear one-handed vs. yet another zweihander even if Artorias wields his in a very different manner to Siegfried and Nightmare). I haven't played through either of those boss fights in a while though so my memory is foggy.

I'd vouch for Friede more if she wasn't part of probably the most poorly received DLC of that franchise (despite being considered the better part of it) and would have a bit of overlap with Zasalamel (unless she also used her smaller scythe, but would that be considered a spoiler since she only does that last phase?). An Abyss Watcher would be cool, especially if that style was CaSable since one of my OCs would use that fighting style.

While I'd rather them not do console exclusive characters, I'd really want a Bloodborne character for the PS4 version, specifically Eileen. I'd say Lady Maria, but she'd have too much overlap with Groh.

Lol the REAL reason Rock didnt make the roster. He's been replced not just in style and form but even in name.

On a side note though did anything about Rock ever show up in the story? CAS, artwork or anything visual at all?
He is mentioned in the encyclopedia under museum. It says that a beast headed Barbarian is being sighted around Europe, and the white giant has gone back to his home ie: Europe.

Why are people talking about a DS guest? I'd imagine just having them as armor sets if anything.

I was definitely talking about her going double scythe. I almost bought up her popularity as well but I was just brainstorming bosses that were humanoid, not too giant and had a weapon.

I would love to see any bloodborne character since almost every weapon in that game is unique and amazing but that game will be 4 years old in a few months so I'm going to say it's not happening

The Dark souls fan base is huge and It's one of bandai namcos biggest money makers so I think it's a very real possibility. Also the amount of DS streamers I see playing SC made me give it a serious thought

It's just hard to imagine because nothing about DS sticks out when it comes to memorable characters with distinguished appearances. Besides, they favor guests from other companies and deliberately seek them out.

Not really. She's a weapon user, has stylish looks, and her series has a past meets present vibe. SC is full of anachronisms and doesn't strive for historical accuracy. Hell, androids already exist in the SC universe so...

I remember Okubo saying Geralt was selected as a guest for being an appropriate character in the SC universe. What sense would it make to say that if they just jump to a fembot anyway?

I suppose you're telling me puppets/Ashlotte are androids? If so that is like saying samurai and Navy Seals are the same thing.

Plenty fantasy games have automated constructs that are magical/spiritual in nature, not technological. That only occurs in games that outright mix the themes completely like Final Fantasy series but that is clearly communicated to the audience from the beginning.

The game may not be historically accurate with the exact dates or whatever. Yes, it is fiction and they will take some liberties in order to make certain characters but there obviously must be a line drawn somewhere. The fact dates are even given at all in the story is enough reason to eliminate technological androids.
