SS & CS/iCS FAQ

I don't know how he is getting it out that fast after a step. After I step forward and do the motion, my character will start moving a little bit. Any other tricks to buffer this?

I didn't plan to share my secret with anyone so soon, but there is a trick to run or step into ss really quickly..
Well, it only works with SS from my testing, but u can do half of the motion of ss and hold forward for about a 1 second or 2 and finish off the other half while ure in their face.
if that didnt make sense to you the motion is - :1h::2h::3h::6h:HOLD until ure in a running motion then finish off with :1h::4h::7h::8h::3h: :B::+::G:
Good Luck with it, if u can perform ss off stun buffers, this shouldnt be too bad. You can also do the 6 as a single step or like a diagonal step and should work.

Ok I checked it and it can be done like this:

CL[G][A+K] 3214391 B+G
CL[G][B+K] 3214391 A+G

Just hold down G and A+K_B+K at the same time + input the directions.

So it's basically CS/SS from CL. Damn, she gets more powerful again... I wonder what's next ... <dream mode on>WP->SW shift?<dream mode off>

CL iCS :P what do you guys think?

nice find ring ^^

CL now became the best stance to be in. Lol.

...

Well... maybe not best. But better! XD

haha
I've found a nice way to buffer on the ground
it seems to be a buffer lock, too
when on ground, roll a short roll once, then buffer CS/SS
so the motion is
Ground: 8, 32123691A+G for iCS

she will throw as soon as she gets up

This discovery just made Whip stance even more useless than it is now.

Thanks Ring. Ivy's on block punishment just went up two notches and pumped up Coiled even more leaving Whip way behind.

Thanks Whoazz as well!!! For Whip usage, it is good stuff to know and definitely useful.

Ivy baby!!!!!! :sc4ivy1:

If Setsuka/Algol weren't so damn awesome, I would play Ivy in this one exclusively.

And Ring.

I guess it's worth to say that the SS motion is the same as normal.

And here I was doing it the reverse way while holding. LOL!, dumb me...

Yeah, sorry about that!

I edited my message. And btw, I found an easier method to do this during blockstun:

You don't need to hold [G] and [A+K]/[B+K] at the same time. Hold [G] and block your opponent's attack, let go [G] as soon as it hits your block and quickly press and hold B+K or A+K and do the motion. Easy as pie (Hi Link ;P)

with the ss cs from coiled found, it seems that u can access ANY move from coiled in whip or sword after block, meaning for more punishing and mixups ^^

Haha, hi Ring. It's nice to come back and see someone remember my love for pie. =P

You guys have made some nice discoveries since I've been away. CL has been my favorite stance for a little while now, and this technique further solidifies its greatness in my mind.

Tried WP 214AG ~ SS today in casuals. That is effing sweet to do. XD

Now to practice it further until it becomes hard not to do... that is the test.

As well as shifting stances in block stun. ><

I have seen people do this move with no buffer and they don't even wobble. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? Does a perfect input actually stop all wobbling? This move is cool and all, but I'm wondering if it's more of an overkill to a valid strategy.

Does she really need this?

Is there a possibility of a 1.04 patch as well? My assumption is that Namco may get flogged by enough angry Ivy players and recorrect it to the old way.

I really want to learn this move though. What's the best input? Is there a trick one or just do it as is? I have been using a figure 8 method with analog sticks: 6321473691 . It works, but my success in practice is like 20%.

I have had a lot of people ask me about CS/SS--how I'm able to get it off so much (and believe me I screw it up a lot, too). But like most of the people here, I can get it consistently. There isn't a trick. Just input the commands for the throw toward the end of any move and she won't dance. When you are too slow with the inputs or you hold G too long (as in a blockstun buffer) then she begins to move around. If you played SC3, then think about the speed of CS from SE and that should help (even though you don't need to be that fast in this game with the inputs). Something else I noticed, if you are playing online and you only have 4 bars (or less) in terms of connectivity, then she still dances a little sometimes (for me, anyway), so if you are using online as a barometer, then try more offline buffering. When I play in person, there isn't any movement at all. This should help--try the easiest buffer for CS first: SW 3B~buffer~A+G. This is probably the easiest buffer for CS if you are having problems getting the move to come out without the Ivy shuffle... Good luck.

350z pretty much has it. You'd think they don't buffer it, but they actually do in some way or form. It's sometimes as subtle as buffering it during the recovery frames of a blockstun.

Also, my motion for CS from the left would be:

63214123691 A+G. Or if you're more of an Street fighter afficionado, HCB, HCF until 9, 1 A+G.

Good luck!

Ring, explain. 6:17 to 6:20.

I realize I've been relatively inactive for a while - so if this is common knowledge now, please point me in the right direction - but that looks like you held the CS buffer for far too long to still get the throw, much less a JF flash.

There was a little twitch but that was about it; unless you can buffer everything but 1A+G for about 2 seconds and still get iCS off after? o.O

Link, that freaky twitch was just for fun and it wasn't the CS motion, just random directions on my stick. If you have a good eye, you can notice that just before the iCS, she slides on the ground backwards a little bit (take a look at her feet) that's when I do the command throw motion.

Holdinh B+K or A+K in general gives you an extra transition. is this known?!?!

So like
SW [B+K] CL SS (the inputs can be buffered during coil. The 3B+G done at the very moment it witches to Whip)
OR
WP [A+K] CL CS (input during Coil, takes 1 second for SW to comes out. 1A+G at last transition)

For some reaosn I buffer 1p SS better on the analog Stick and 1p CS better on Bad. so vise versa on 2P side.
