I like all my fingers on the buttons, I can do everything much easier, with a stick than on a pad, and that is even with mapping the shoulder triggers. from slide inputs, simultaneuos button inputs...

I voted other because I thought it was funny and online polls are meaningless.

I have played SC2 on the PS3 pad. I always wanted to try a stick then but never got around to it. For SC IV I started out with a pad and then moved to a stick. It takes some getting used to, (getting better but still adjusting) but I do prefer it now.

At first I thought it made me slower because on the pad when I did 6B for example I pressed both at the same time. On a stick I felt I had to delay the B. But after getting accustomed to it I noticed that it's because the 6 is actually faster on a stick and it now feels right as well.

I started out having buttons mapped like I had on the pad, but I stopped using them. You don't need it at all once you relearn your muscle memory. The stick gives me more control, especially on diagonals. (I use a HRAP3 with all Sanwa parts.)

Another bonus is that I play MAME games on my laptop hooked up to my TV. :D Final Fight sure takes me back to when I played it in the arcades.

With the PS pad I never miss an input that has any kind of diagonal or 11_22_33, etc. motion.

I guess I'm still not used to the 360 stick and fighting games. (I got a Tekken 5 Hori Stick, but it's way different than a thumb-stick).

I didn't miss them, well I had a hard time with 1G and 3G. (I hated that change from SC2) But other than that I didn't miss the moves. It's just easier, smoother, with a stick and I don't have gamers thumbs after a long session.

Up until recently I've used the pad. I've made it a point to start playing with the stick and it's come to a point in which I feel a lot more comfortable with the stick. Granted, I can use both just fine as I've always used a pad up until now. However, if I HAD to choose, I'd choice the stick.

I'm pretty accustomed to the PS3 controller. Thinking bout tryin the stick though, as everyone seems to be raving about it.

Stick whenever possible.

I havent been able to play fighters on pad since i blisterd my thumbs from playing Melty Blood.

Bought myself a stick with all the fighters coming up. Took me a few weeks to get used to it, but it feels good now. Got a habit of using Siegfried and use 236B after I KO'd someone to practise my qcf motions for SF4 coming up.

stick

it's true you'll feel uncomfortable at first
miss combo...miss the input...etc etc

but once you get used to it
you'll never want to come back :)
trust me hehehehe....

Quoted for TRUTH

I play stick. Why? 'Cuz this is a fighting game.

I've got my first stick this week, still getting used to it a bit but i already prefer it over
the crappy xbox 360 d-pad, and having a finger dedicated to each of the buttons is great too!.
Right now i got the hori ex2 soul calibur version, and even though its not the greatest
stick out there, I still like it a lot better than my controller. Might get a custom stick
if the hori dies on me though.

I just have an easier time with directionals and especially circular movements in general, whether it be 8 way run or for a move, with a stick. Also, having each finger designated to a button makes it easier for me to flow between button combos on characters like Taki, Sieg, Cervantes, etc etc.

@VoidCrawler: Start saving your money now, because my Hori only lasted a couple weeks (though I played A LOT in those weeks). I have to mash my B attacks if I use it, so I am back to pad for the moment. Probably gut it and use the board and replace the buttons and shlap it into a new case.

well i can play both Ps3 and Stick just with the stick my right hand starts hurtin(stupid nerve damage XD) I can still pull through though don't really like 360 pad but i can adapt to anything

New 360 pads are supposed to be coming early in 2009 (IIRC?) which have 8-way input rather than 4-way. People are saying it's a lot better.

That said, I believe fighting games are always better with sticks. I have a friend who used to play GGXR with a pad and said he can't even do it with a stick... I don't know how. I'd get carpal tunnel.

I used ps2 pad for sc2, and started sc4 on ps3 pad and i have to say i find stick far superior in terms of hitting comands, especially GI's which I can't do in a pad at all.

Custom or Namco PS1 stick for me. I can play pad, but I can hit more difficult stuff and am much more comfortable on a stick... For 2d fighters especially.

Prefer? We have... CHOICES?!

360 controller is all I have... and considering the similarities with the DC controller which I started with, I'll probably stick with it (possibly shooting self in foot?).

I use the PS3 controller, mainly because I'm most used to it. It also doesn't hurt that I'm too cheap to buy a stick.

I wonder how many of the people that voted for "Other" actually use those things regularly?
