Team Mighty Chicago - TMCHI

Hello TMCHI,

Wanted to make a new thread to change focus of what is coming down the road.

Short-term goal is to get everyone gathered and then hold a small local tournament to get some of the new players their “tournament” nerves up and running. I am going to be setting something up with Galloping Ghost Arcade. I’ll charge $5 bucks for the entry and whatever Galloping Ghost Charges for the venue.

1st Prize: MadCatz Stick (Whichever Model happens to be cheapest at the time)
Last Place: Gets my used Copy of SC5 Strategy Guide.

Long-term goal is get the more competitive players ready to compete in The Evolution 2012 (Main Event will be held on July 6-8, 2012) @ Caesar's Palace Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Couple questions to everyone:

  1. Who are the current leaders for Chicago? Who typically sets up gaming sessions and where. I am not here to step on any toes and I am will depending you guys to keep things running smoothly.
  2. Individually, Let me know which of you are interested in casual or competitive.
  3. PM me your contact info. Real Name / Location / Phone # / Schedule (like if you are a student ect.)

Lets get it,
Philip

Cool! This is exactly what we've needed for some time now.

1) I don't know how the rest of them feel, as I pretty much came later than them, but there really is no figurehead for competitive Calibur in Chicago. The closest thing we have is Webster and he doesn't run anything. For the most part, the few of us who are/were dedicated went and played at each other's houses; we don't have anything more official set up.

2) Competition is what drives me.

Pretty decent topic. I'll go ahead and link in it the other topic though as most people probably just have that thread on watch and don't check the regional section.

Cool.

I'm still pretty new to the area, but a random guy at Fry's was telling me about some video game place in Downer's Grove, I think, that has huge rooms for console tourneys/parties/etc. I can't remember the name of it, though. Not sure if that's more convenient for anyone. GGA is great, but the space and parking is kind of.... :\

I'm up for some GGA, Nickel City... whatever's clever!

I LOVE OLD SCHOOL CHICAGO CALIBUR!

Well I second, everything LostProvidence stated.

And I LOVE the ideal about getting Us Chicago Players EVO ready and getting over those damn tourny nerves.

Who is the Admin for these forums haha.. I just realized that the Thread should be titled "Team Mighty Chicago - TMCHI". I would like to get that changed.

I thought you were moonlighting as an MK9 player with the whole "Might" thing.... :P

Phil I LOVE YOU!!! Welcome back, Chicago could benefit from an O.G perspective.

Luck: Well thanks for the mention lol. But yeah I didn't run much for SCIV, because I absolutely hate that game. I did run Chicago Regionals for SCIV though. And I ran a good number of SCIV tournaments in IL/WI via Chicago CoB tournaments, MAS, and a few majors like Midwest Champs (when it was at Nickel city).

If I like SCV, I'll support it 100% and make sure to do what I can for the scene tournament wise. Hopefully you folks are still willing to travel, even up to WI some times.

Regardless Phil, Neoshinji, is exceptional support/asset to the Chicago scene. You are in good hands, that is guaranteed.

That would be Game Pazzo. It's in a shopping center with a big parking lot just off of I-355.

People that are cool with holding gatherings at their place should post that up. I want to make sure that we move things around where not just 1 person having to take the brunt of having to constantly clean up after people.

I’ll catalog all of the info so once we get everyone on the same page so we can start to organizing some gatherings.

I'd be interested in games at GGA. Just please don't be like the SRK guys and start at 9pm in the middle of the week. Some of us have real jobs and have to get up in the mornings.

I'm interested in competitive play and will be going to EVO for SC5 this year.

I'll also be hosting practice sessions at my house every Tuesday from 6-10. I live in Hammond, IN and can PM my address to anyone interested. (Hammond is about 35 minutes from Downtown Chicago).

I don't think i'd go to evo. I'm going to Vegas in 2 weeks and it seems that since EVO is booked during the holiday weekend, prices would be a bit higher. But i'll do some online play and an occasional gathering. Happy to ring folks out.

I stay around 15 minutes or so from you, so I'd be up for some games every now and then.

I don't know what your plans are for Tuesday, but I'll be playing from about 4:30pm until I fall asleep. You're welcome to come by.
