there you are again being negative. it's that kind of attitude like that is what's poisiong our community and our forums now
sad...sad man
The other problem with telling people to just man up is that what logical evidence do you have besides the #1 ranked player in being able to do so? Man up doesn't work when you don't have enough examples to show someone. And like I said before, if we had the number of people willing to still compete in SC4, we could get away with saying man up, but in my opinion I don't think we can with the turnouts that have been happening as of late.
This community seems to love banning characters based on theory alone, and always goes with the "guilty until proven innocent" approach. It sickens me.
Algol originally got banned because of it, until people realized he wasn't as bad, and now it's Hilde's turn.
People want to ban Hilde now because they have this theory that she is the main cause of the community's demise. And people are bringing up the idea that we should ban her, until she's proven "innocent" within a few months if things don't changed due to the ban.
But who's to say the community wouldn't be pretty much in the same situation if Hilde wasn't in the game? In my opinion other fighting games such as SF4, BB, and soon Tekken, had a greater negative effect on the community than Hilde. People move on to the more popular games, it happens. All we can do now is continue supporting the scene, and rather than banning characters based on theory alone, teach people how to better fight them.
Until Broken Destiny comes out on console our community will slowly lose activity thanks to all these other new games that people are getting into. It's inevitable.
the bans arent about being broke
its about drawing more players
if people see an algol bubble juggle with out knowing how it works they will run because it looks broken
i support the algol ban if it will draw more people
my sig is just a joke
thing about algol bubble juggles is they are almost impossible to set up
people who are prospective players dont know this and if they see a 230-240 dmg they will bolt
I could spend all day picking apart the rest of your wall, but that wouldn't be productive and I basically addressed most of it earlier on in this same thread. This section is the closest you've posted to a legit question, so I'll try to address it.
The way I see it, banning Hilde would have a negative effect on the game's playerbase instead of the positive effect you are assuming. 90% of anyone who actually QUIT this game because of Hilde likely have little or no interest in returning if she was removed. The few that would return might be worthwhile players, but they would probably be smaller in number than the people leaving the game because of their main getting banned. This wouldn't have a positive impact on new recruitment either imo, as "I heard they had to ban characters to balance the game" sounds worse than "I heard that game has a really strong RO character in it."
Notice how one of the main differences between your logic and mine is our assumption of what the majority of current, former, and new players THINK about Hilde. That's a few steps removed from being proveable at all.
There are tons of other reasons (newer fighting games, recession money sink, common gameplay misconceptions) that apply to this game's smaller population, but you (and the others I've reacted to in this topic) act as if Hilde is the one glaring problem with the SC4 popularity equasion. That's what I have a problem with.
