Soul Charge was stupid, and pointless. Why would you leave yourself open for a billion frames when you could just apply pressure instead?

I NEVER soul charged in sc2/3, and if some idiot tried it, they would get combo'd.

At best it was a stupid gimmicky mechanic that only worked on noobs. With the exception of sc3 nightmare, who's 2A+B on downed opponents gave him an automatic soul charge, that was it. Other than that, it was completely unnecessary and I'm glad them removed it.

IN SC2 you could move while soul charging, using it effective after Knockdowns to get access to guard crushs etc. Its not stupid its awesome.

Who are you fooling? Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE who has played SC2 and 3 have used Soul Charge to their benefit of helping their game. You've probably used Soul Charge, so don't say you've haven't.

damn-YOU-suck

Guys. Please just drop it. There's a line between being outright mean to someone to just disproving their point with solid evidence and information with the occasional condescending tone of voice.
Seems pretty normal around here. *shrugs*

But yes I definitely agree.

cough especially when they play Viola cough cough

<_< >_>.
But... i main Viola! :<

Of the characters in V, i think Viola has more potential to be interesting to watch than a lot of the cast...
From what ive seen, people dont vary their strategy much with her, and i suppose she doesnt really require you to do so... but its far better still than Mitsu 669B 236B over and over.

ZWEI is probably who i find the most fun to watch...

...i feel like im off-topic...

There is a favorite fighting style thread...
Also if you only consider the characters themselves every character is boring to watch, you have to see the small details in each player's playstyle. No matter what combo or techtrap people do, it's boring when you've seen it 100 times.

Thats combos and techtraps though... im talking about how a character starts a combo, and the mind games it requires, or should require. Everything Viola does after her 3B, 44A BE, etc. lands is boring, but its what leads up to it that matters more... and some characters in this game have very safe yet very rewarding moves. Theres almost no penalty for just throwing them out at random constantly, with the hope that eventually one will hit, with a few low kicks here and there to confuse them.
I know how ridiculous that sounds when everything can be evaded, or defended in a certain way... but thats not what happens (i mean, if everyone had such perfect defense, the old GI system wouldve made the game unplayable), because all i see is this repetition.
I need to review some more matches before i can really say this with any confidence... all i know right now is that watching this game bores me, and thats what i think is the reason.

I agree with Solo....it's kinda boring to watch the characters fight...unless the match gets very intense :o but thats just me.

Commentary doesn't make a difference for me. I have to watch the players and not the characters.

I like commentary, helps me understand a choice I wouldn't have made, or some subtle detail I'd have missed. It's more an enhancement.

Watching V is nowhere near as fun as previous games though. It's more aggressive, certainly, and in some cases can seem quite fluid, but there're few players that really catch my attention. I really enjoy watching Fahros, Azy, Pocky-Yoshi and such (never seen you play) but most people are interchangeable with each other. I'm not so great at the game though, so again, the commentary helps.

Soulcalibur 2 seems far more interesting to watch than 4 or 5 was... :/
Maybe thats just because i didnt really learn 2 at all, but... this just looks so much faster and theres a lot more tech-crouching/jumping attacks and spacing... much less in the way of combos... When i watch 5 it feels like people are going through the motions with the same 3-4 moves...
Though this is just an impression based off of observation, but SC2 always came of to me looking more tactical the way fights looked even when spectating especially most Talim combos. the games seemed more combo and quick recovery oriened. SC3 was more about speed of chaining attacks into longer combos. SC5 takes away from that with the excessive blurr of flashes and distracting effects. SC2 was probably the most realistic looking of the series. IMO the less special effects the better, more focus can be drawn to the fighting and combo animations.) The worst that could happen is SC turning into MvC.
