The great fight of the 360 and PS3

You can never judge the PS3's graphics by these tests. The testers will LIMIT the PS3s capabilities so that its "even" with the 360's. However, this is not the PS3 running at its best capacity. Its the 360 running at it's best capacity, but its the PS3 running at some of its worst settings. The PS3 can do 1080p native, while most 360s cant. Although, this is the first tester I've seen to enable the PS3's full-range HDMI settings, there are still many other settings you can do on the PS3 to make the picture look even better.

Also, multiplatform games almost always look better on the 360 because of lazy programming. Its easier to program for the 360 and no one bothers to optimize for the PS3. The PS3 has WAY more power, which has been proven in games like Uncharted or Heavenly Sword. However, if you look at most multiplatform games, graphics worse than the two I mention, are lagging like shit because developers are lazy. Look at the best looking PS3 exclusive game, and compare it to the best looking 360 exclusive game.

You'll see a stark comparision.

You can't use multiplatform games as a fair comparison since the 360 is much easier to program for. How many developers are willing to put in the work to use the PS3 to it's fullest and also deal with deadlines and ROI? But take a look at the exclusive games on the PS3 and you will see it's graphical horsepower.

Another thing is that we're probably seeing the X360 at it's plateau in terms of graphics whereas the PS3 has much more headroom that's just waiting to be utilized. You'll see that in 2009.

Lastly, just going by graphics as a sole measure of which console is better is silly. There's many other factors you need to consider when choosing a console instead of going off on some fanboy shit. The fact remains that M$ killed the original Xbox way too early so that they could get the jump on the next console generation by releasing an ass piece of hardware with great graphics. I shouldn't have to pray to the gods for my console not to die on me, but that's what happens when you rush hardware. It's a miracle my system is still going without issue.

It's cool to compare graphics, but it's silly to when there are many other things you need to consider when choosing a console to purchase.

ive been an xbox fan for years. never really liked playstation, cause I used to think that the funner/better games were on xbox. but as of last night, i got the RROD again!!! this is the 4th fuckin time, so ill have to go get my 5th fuckin console. I always thought the ps3 had better graphics but i agree with malice on the fact that there are quite a few more reasons for choosing a console. I chose the 360 this time cause there were a ton more people on live then there were on psn. but im getting sick of having to buy a new xbox or sending mine out to get fixed.

does the ps3 have any issues like the xbox does as faras harxdware failures and things like that. cause i swear to god M$ is a piece of shit!!

Ps3's don't really have any design issues that cause hardware failures, except that they can't quite withstand the force of a steamroller running over one.

As for games, I actually don't give a damn about 99% of games being released on either console. And all the ones I do have been released on the ps3 so far...

If my 360 would last longer than a year before needing replacing with a $94 fix, I could agree with you. However, the fact that they released such an obviously bugged machine that has such a host of problems doesn't say much for how much work they're willing to put into their system.

More than graphics go into determining what is a better system. If that was the case, the Wii wouldn't sell anywhere as much as it is now.

I enjoy my 360, granted. the RROD and system problems are trash tier. But I do enjoy the games...although like 2 of the ones I play the most are on PC(TF2 and L4D, which are FAR better supported by Valve on PC). Hmmmmm...I owned a PS3 at one time, I did like the Blu-Ray, PSN(free), the store(no fucking points to deal with), I enjoyed the web browser(youtube on TV),and that ability to rip my entire Exteral HDs worth of music to the PS3's with the press of a button. The System features were fucking awesome, but I just didn't get into the games.

Jesus this thread is one huge flame bait.
does anyone else smell console wars?
both systems are good for what they do

XBOX-does shooters well

PS3-fighting games are leaps and bounds better because of the 360 pad

does it matter anyway?

I just wish PS3 had something like live arcade with that amount of games and online play

PSN is free but it's terrible.

XBLA is the only reason I'm still considering a 360.

Other than that, everything I'd want to play on 360(That I can't play on PS3) I can play on PC for a better experience

Just about every 360 supporter forgets about this.

As for the multi-platform issue, Jaxel hit the nail on the head with that one.

Regardless I'll still get a 360 eventually.

PS: Valkyria Chronicles > Every JRPG on 360.

I won a PS3 in some contest but its covered in dust because the only game I thought was worth it was MGS4, and even that disappointed me.

I don't give two shits about the "console wars" or whatever, but I do find it interesting that this is the first console generation where there isn't a uniform tournament standard.

Sure, in Calibur it's always PS3 (although there are even exceptions to that, i.e. Michigan), but elsewhere it's not so clear-cut. A good number of HD Remix tournaments have used the 360, as will SF4 most likely - the 360 is more popular among Capcom players since it's cheaper and has better online play (which is actually a huge deal with Remix).

So yeah, it's something to think about if you plan on playing any of the other new fighters. I ended up getting my T5 stick modded with 360 support and buying a good PS3 converter, so I'm covered for everything now.

I think PS3 is still going to end up being the tournament standard though, as most tournament players still only have PS2 sticks

I think the PS2/PS3 converters are cheaper and better quality than the PS2-360 ones.

But yeah if you only play online 360 is the way to go. Online is better and they have alot more titles available for online(not the best netcode, but it's something)

Its been long enough that there are good options out there for a 360 stick if you want one, so that isn't really an issue anymore. More people have 360s and get sticks for them because that is the only console they own.

Really, the only thing the ps3 has going for it now is a wider install base in certain games like tekken (for obvious reasons before namco announced multi-plat) and the fact that they don't have a non-trivial chance to RROD. Even that isn't a real problem really except for very large majors.

I prefer the 360 buttons by a ton, and i use the thumbstick on 360 which works fine. It's like a little arcade stick.
