Theory Calibur/Go to DEV/Like This Post Thread

My brother once run into a kilik spammer(xbl), kilik user was spaming the same A+B moves like 6A+B and 4A+B, while rising A+B, 2A+B etc... My bro was Raphael. When my bro was maining raphael since sc3, he know lots of tactics but in online he couldn't use them because his tactics were based on his reflexes. When match was 2 to 2 my bro was raged and spammed the same fking move (2A+B) over and over. The kilik user didnt know how to block low attacks then he lost the game, my big bro won the match. Now tell me who is the scrub? kilik user or my bro with raphael?

Edit: after match the guy with kilik send a hate mail. Said: I hate noobs. My bro deleted the message soon after reading it and did not respond.
there both noobs, because they both got caught by the same old repetition and couldn't adapt.

If I'm gonna wave my dick in this case, I'm gonna do it by making you play this song and SCIV together. The subliminal message is in the clip.

In what sense though, she isn't overpowered in any area, she is just good/very good in EVERY area. I wouldn't say she was a god in any specific category but to be honest the tournament results speak for themselves. =\

I think the reason she's OP is because she doesn't have enough weaknesses and way too many strengths. I mean cmon, short range? check. Long range? double check. High damage? check. fast? check. Pushback? double check. 90 damage grab? check. High damage combos? check. Versatile and large move set? check. Good guard breakers? check. Has all tools? check.

Weaknesses??... wait... your telling me she has weaknesses?? That's news to me.

I hope namco is paying attention to this. There's no reason to have a character that surpasses most of the cast in EVERY category. They need to nerf her to a reasonable level in SC5.

Does that answer your question?

Ivy is not that OP. Its a shame to say that she has won most of Europe because she is OP. Takes away all credit from Scud and Malek.

Playing an OP character and winning does not mean they deserve no credit. They have vast knowledge of IVY and she isn't the easiest to master. I would bet money on the fact that if they used another character, they wouldn't have been quite as successful. When you have a skilled player with an unbalanced character the result is being close to unstoppable.

Looking at the tourney results, you can only have 3 conclusions:

1. She is overpowered.
2. She is balanced, but for some reason even the best players can't overcome her.
3. The people who use IVY just happen to be better than everyone else.

The second option is a lot less likely, considering that people study frame data extensively and really learn how to fight certain characters.

The third option doesn't hold much weight either. The best players don't all use the same character.

Options 2 and 3 sound like convenient excuses for why IVY is so successful.

Isn't is much simpler to say that she's OP? At least that answer can be backed up with tangible results.

And by all means the players who use her STILL deserve credit. As an experiment, they should chose another character and see if their success still holds.

Ok sorry Damn I Suck but this mania with OP characters is getting old. Voldo, Amy, Setsuka, and Kilik are all just as good as Ivy. She wins majors because those who play her ARE usually better and more experienced than their competition.

I would bet money on the fact that if they used another character, they wouldn't have been quite as successful.

LOL at this. Look at Woahzz. He still owns gatherings with his Yoshi and his Sets. Look at S-U. Yes he plays Ivy but his Kilik far outshines her. Im down to bet that money with you lol. I could give you so many more examples too.

2. She is balanced, but for some reason even the best players can't overcome her.

Again this is Bull. Tens of players can and have overcome her. I could list names but that takes too long. You have to understand, Yes she is strong, stronger than most characters, but NOT strong enough to be called over-powered. Of course your not going to see people beating the best Ivy in the world, but that's because they are the best Ivy's in the world, not because they are using Ivy.

3. The people who use IVY just happen to be better than everyone else.

Of course the best all don't use the same character. But the Ivy's that have been winning the last couple tournaments ARE definitely some of the best SC players in the world.
That is pretty much indisputable.

What happened to the "Amy is OP wtf ban her" talk? I miss those days.

The same thing that happened to the omfgwtf Kilik & Voldo talk. It got old.

But I don't get why people are crying about Ivy at this point when we are almost 3 years into this game, when there's less than a handful of tournaments for this game, when most people just play online, and when the same shit happens in every fighting game out there.

Great players are going to play the best characters for the most part, however there's nothing stopping anyone else from using a character like Ivy if they wanted to. You can also counterpick your opponent. You can also be better than your opponent. So stop QQin, take the diaper off, and man up because things aren't better in any of these other fighting games unless you play Virtua Fighter.

What an ignorant statement, Malice. It doesn't matter that we're pushing 3 years now. That doesn't mean character potential is always realized within the first 2 years or so of its community life. Several characters in SC2 and SC3 never got recognized as being very good simply because nobody (great) happened to play them.

Also, Ivy is not OP..............................................................................................Bahahahaha!! Yeah, right.

I would LOVE to see Ivy get a serious nerf in 5 just to see how many Ivy players are just tier whores so I can take the piss out of them. I won't list names but I'd bet it would be at least 1/3 of her fanbase. And before people say how would you like it - I main Siegfried, I lived this shit ~_~

People will play her no matter what, just like we did in SC3 where she was nowhere near top tiers. We just love this character. Not many of us (afaik) look at the game from the same perspective as S-U for instance, who picked her only because he believed she was good.

i can't think of a single top ivy player who has not mained her since day one. calling any of them tier whores is nothing short of retarded. ivy mains just like her style.

i have a theory about ivy. i don't feel like she is overpowered. i think that those players who mained her for all this time, and who have learned to deal with her options and stance shifts, have had to work harder learning the game "ins and outs" than people maining other characters. i think this higher learning curve for ivy has made them better overall players over time, which is why we are seeing her come out on top more and more. i also don't think she needs nerfs pretty much for the above reasons. it has taken her 3 years to dominate, and that is perfect character design imo. she is one of the most complicated characters to use, so it makes me happy to see her come out on top after climbing her way up for all this time. the complicated characters SHOULD be the best characters at the end of the day.

enough of this scrubby bitching. think you can unseat the top ivy guys after they have been learning her inside and out for 3 years? switch mains then. use their own ammo against them. go ahead and try.
