There's a serious problem with 3d artists in this game..

Why I wonder, why is that every single character looks different in the 3d model than their official art?

Not only that, characters actually have different facial features! Look at Viola in the drawing and the render: totally different nose. Don't even get me started on Ivy, or Siegfried for that matter.

Also, clothings look different. Ivy's blouse is very different in the art and the model (maybe this one's for the better, the art was sluttier and we don't really need that).

The point is: why change it? How difficult must it be to get it done right?

Why 3d artists keep on changing features of the characters, and for the worse?

I do find it really annoying. Looking at a character art, thinking about how good it looks, then scroll down to the render, and it's a whole different thing!

Am I the only one who's bothered (at least slightly) by this?
 
Some characters don't even have the same attitude: you look at Viola's art and she looks tough à la Ivy, you look at the render and she looks like a timid girl à la Phyrra.
 
The worst is by far Zwei, from sharp face warrior to gay biker with lipstick

BUT

people need to understand they may not be complete,example Pat & Pyrrah do giant step forward from theyr first appearance

But yes,SC4 got in some case the same problem... just think at the sisters and Taki faces

positive note: ingame Natsu is waaay better than the artwork
 
I agree. I don't understand why the renders look so much different from the art.
ZWEI's face (especially his nose) looks messed up,and what happened to the bit on blonde that was in his hair?
Even Siegfried looked better in the artwork (especially his face).
Then again, everyone seemed to look better in the official art with a few exceptions like: Pyrrah,Natsu,Ivy,and Pat.

Also why is it that in the official art the characters have bigger bosoms, then in the official renders they're like size A-cup?I'm looking at you Viola and Tira!

True that. The actual models seem like a cross between the art and the renders most of the time, which is kind of a relief.

Ivy still looks like a whore in the model tho, while in the art her face is hot, but not slut-like.

as long is different from the chara designer concept,yes

If he was yet in that way in the artwork it was different,because it was intentional and not a clumsy result

Said that, i repeat

Actual 3d model may NOT be definitive,specially about the more recent characters
Again people,go watch very very first Patroklos 3d appearance and the actual one,way more close to the artwork

Or first Pyrrah and actual one,totally different faces

So before whine let's wait
 
I'm not whining. I was curious if other people felt tere was an actual difference like I did, and for the worse.

But of course it's far from a real "issue".
 
The reason they're different is because of design stages. They create the concept art, and during the 3D modeling designs, the designs tend to change. Sometimes small differences, sometimes drastically. The end product never looks the same as the initial concept, this is true for any game, movie, or any media that follows design stages like this. Even a game's mechanics are sometimes altered and changed throughout it's design before the finished product is presented to the public.

Why are they changed? Various reasons, could be easier to make them the way they did, the concept artist changed their mind about how they wanted the character to look, the producer said "Fuck this shit, make it this way", there's no telling WHY they changed things.
 
Given the extreme complaints about "Stripper Calibur" in the previous two games; I'm not at all surprised the in game models have a more conservative look. This is a good thing, we don't need teenage boys (and probably twenty somethings too) thinking of SC when they think of their hentai fap material. They already have all the other things from Japan to use to sate those urges. A little class is probably in order here.

The only one that annoys me is Sig. In his concept art, he actually looks masculine for the first time in forever. Manly beard. In game? Tottaly metro.

The concept art that you make official can't look better than or noticeably different than the 3d models.

It's just raises questions...I seriously want this game to be hella delayed.
