Things in SCIV that made me appreciate SCV...

Oh god, hehe. There are so many things I don't even know where to begin.

Things that pissed me off about sc4:

1) Shake-able stuns. I'm very happy to see them go away. Less to remember now in scv.

2) Slow-paced. Sc4 was by far the slowest SC EVER.

3) A lot more unsafe moves in sc4. All this does is just limit your viable options.

4) Hilde doom combos

5) Amy. 'Nuff said

6) Sophitia's stabs were far stupider than Omega's

7) The fact that you couldn't step shit in 4.

8) The announcer in 4 sounded corny as fuck

9) CF SUCKED

10) Ivy was stupid. I think 5 is the only game where she isn't borderline broken.

Even though sc4 wasn't "technically" the worst game, it is by far my least favorite SC EVER.

The SCIV Announcer fit the corny tone of the entire series. V's announcer isn't bad but he doesn't sound too memorable.

The one thing I do miss from the series was how maximalist the sound tracks sounded. IMO, a lot of the tunes in SCV are downright forgettable. They lack the melodies and rhythm the older games had.

Metal would be an abhorrent choice as a main genre for the Soulcalibur soundtrack. The pacing would be completely mismatched, and it doesn't fit some of the cast in the least.
That's true, but I wasn't suggesting it'd be the main genre. I was just saying it'd be cool if there were a little more. Won't happen anyway.
Shut up. You're just not mature enough to appreciate metal, go play kiddie games scrub
Why do you over react too much, what's wrong with you?

I hope you're not including "Duel of the Fates". Because I'd like the game to play that for every match in every arena ever.

It's a fine track, I don't disagree. But my complaint about SCIV's soundtrack as a whole is purely based on opinion. It's a feeling, not something really measurable or scientific in nature. I can't really think of any good examples, and to me it would feel a bit cheap to cherrypick examples to support my opinion anyways. No sense in trying to add some sort of faux scientific quantification to something that is purely an opinion, right?

It'd be badass if they made more metal music to SC. The music they got now is great, but nothing beats metal music during a fight. Metal out shines overall & is brighter at its best when weapons clash in battle!

It's not an issue with the genre. Literally every other Soulcalibur OST other than IV I feel has outstanding music. Soul Edge/Soul Blade, Soulcalibur, SC II, SCIII, SCV, and even SC Legends(cannot repress those memories) are better OSTs overall in my opinion. I've even listened to the whole SCIV soundtrack again since posting and I still can't figure out where this opinion finds its basis---I'm utterly baffled by having it but not understanding a base for it doesn't change it.

Is it the same way for you and your metal? It's more fo a feeling, right?

I understand. Music is a way of conveying emotions a lot of times. And although there is theoretically a way to scientificly analyze emotional reactions, it is difficult to do so. So that makes music largely subject to purely opinions.

As something that's purely an opinion, though, I think "Duel of the Fates" is damn epic. Too bad I can't say much of the other tracks in the game...

I still don't understand all this 'hard read' nonsense. It's just guessing as far as I can see, and what exactly is a soft read anyway?
It's just a joke/meme I got started in the ZWEI forums, I basically said that a hard read would work in one situation and now everyone loves it haha. It's nothing more than a silly joke, and I don't think many people use the hard read term seriously though.

wait, that was a thing?! i thought it was just something you did since i never heard it from anyone else.

"Hard Reads" = A player being able to react to a move before 10 frames before it's pressed, or basically being able to predict the next move before your opponent inputs it!

I know... internet fighting game slang is always evolving!! xD The only motto they should have killed off was "stay free"...

I play SWAAAAAG-FRIED, and SC4 people got upset because I could pull of "un-safe" stance dances and still pull off hits. Now in SC5 sieg has less moves, so that gives me less mix-ups. But his Geist stance - cancel into - 3B in SC5 was a HUGE improvement!!!!
